  1. Chubb residential lock devision were taken over by assa abloy and are now rebranded union. Depending on age a replacement should be pretty easy you just need to know wether its a sashlock/deadlock and if its 2 1/2 or three inches deep. If replacing a really old lock you may need to move the keyhole slightly Locks are available from Shaw's and a little bit cheaper from screwfix. Thanks
  2. Are they upvc windows And how do you know the mechanism is working?
  3. I've been driving eight years and still find brook hill a bit scary at times. On a Friday afternoon its like the wacky races
  4. Sounds like that job would take 2-3 hours @£20ph, less tax, materials, Insurance, van , tools, and proper disposal of chemicals. Probably works out at around £10 pH for a job few people would like to do. If your happy to diy then so be it. If you'd like someone to do the jobs you don't have time/don't want to. Sorry for the rant but a lot of people want things doing for very little money
  5. We resently fitted an IG steel clad door to the side of our house . Its really secure with a multipoint lock and antisnap cylinder, with thermal performance equal to four wooden doors. There not cheap but there's currently a couple for sale on eBay. Andy
  6. Standard concreat large flags.. Your more than welcome to take them away Andy
  7. I know you said you want nice flags.. But I have 15-20 large flags free to anyone who will take them away... Probably look OK after a jet wash Andy
  8. I hang my head in shame....... I got two letters the wrong way round and made the word securtiy up. Thank the lord for the title of this topic and its content , or people would have no idea what I was talking about. Hisky3 I owe you one, if it wasn't for people like you.
  9. Anti snap cylinders are easy to fit! But what do you do when the original installer put the fixing screw in with a drill and the heads chewed to bits? How do you remove/replace a floating mullion? What if your door just has a latch and rollers? Or its externally beaded? Securtiy is best left to the pros.. And as always stay away from the cheap eBay jobbys, also if you buy your cylinders online have them posted to a different address .
  10. I care not if Katie K owns. All I can say is the coffee is amazing , the service warm and welcoming and prices spot on. Starbucks/costa etc get lost ! (And pay some tax) Wish you the best of luck, coffee bean Keep business local Andy
  11. Hi hotrock. Glad your happy with the lock on the front door, I've not had one go wrong yet.. If you still have the card that came with the lock? Supplying you with another for the back door, that works on the same key should be no problem.... I'll try and call round in the week or you could give me a call.. Thanks Andy
  12. Most modern council doors are fitted with the uap anti snap/bump lock although the older ones are just fitted with six pin standard cylinders.. The uap lock has anti snap cuts and a anti bump pin but is the cheapest anti Snap on the market, and if I'm honest not very good . You may be lucky and have a devise called a cylinder guard fitted. But beware I seen quite a few fitted the wrong way round ( Kier) My advice would be to upgrade you cylinders and make sure your cylinder guard is fitted the right way round( Allen key on the inside of the door) I'd stay away from the cheap anti snaps ( £ 15 and under) as they are still open to attacks I won't go into on here. Andy
