  1. I know only too ell what you mean, esp. as Google - gmail are so paranoid about security they all too frequently (for my taste !) demand I make up a new one & I'm now beginning to run out of easy ideas to create them. However, I do tend to save them on my memory stick - though that needs re-organising far too often - sigh - HTH?

    Sex

From my "surfing the net" it now seems that both in America (where it seems to have started?) & here, any sex talks given to young kids @ school are heavily biased towards converting them to being VERY woke! - So, it seems the "wokists" want to gain power by brain washing young kids when they are still vulnerable & thus making the next generation as "neurotic" as they are?
  3. Hi, I'm aware that, since 2008 & the World Bank Crisis followed by the re-introduction of so called "austerity" that the banks have gone downhill, but the past few years they seem to have got a LOT worse! To the stage that I feel the need to get a different set of credit-debit cards. The main cause for my present problem is Visa card who seem determined to punish me for breaking rules I was NEVER informed of, by blocking my cards. So, as seems the norm for our present version of "THE MATRIX" I'm trapped in a deliberately created "information vacuum" ( though they are probably unaware of that), & now I've worked that much out, there seems little point in complaining (@ this level) as it just gets ignored! So, @ this stage I'll back off that as getting a usable set of credit-debit cards is MUCH more important @ this point ! As a result of this problem, I've been trawling Google & in particular Trustpilot ( though they seem a bit shy of dealing with obviously bogus "5 star" reviews that appear to have been created by the staff of bogus/incompetent companies, scammers etc . So, in trying to obtain the truth, it seems best to pay more attention to the one star reviews (which are far more numerous than the five star reviews) While online banking might have some benefits, it seems from the complaints on Trustpilot, if you're complaining via phone or email & therefore @ some distance, its the ideal environment for bank staff to jerk you about & give you the "run around". So, as long as a transaction can be kept simple & superficial, there's the hope that dealing directly with a local branch might be less painful? Ideally, I'd prefer a branch, with external ATM in Shiregreen, central Sheffield, or anywhere between, preferably on the # 75/76/88 bus routes & who will issue me with a current account (as it's been so long, remind me of how much I might need to put in, in order to open a new current account) & MASTER CARD & AMERICAN EXPRESS credit & debit cards. - While I'm not optimistic about finding a good bank, perhaps a "least worse" one might be an improvement over the kr@p I'm going through just now. - TIA Cheers, Jim
  4. A reasonable basic starting point is that our species is TECHNICALLY ADVANCED & SOCIALLY PRIMITIVE ! Put it another way, given that 90% of our species are dysfunctional as despite being born Democratic & sociable (Kurt Lewin), by age 2 most have been screwed up by abusive parents who then for no valid reason blame the kids by labelling it "The terrible 2s" This is an inter generational curse as each generation never learns to del with their problems & screws up the next generation! Basically, the longer you live in this dystopic species, the more you'll be screwed up by it! A good primer is PT.1 of the sci fi film series MATRIX - Should you wish to work out our present version of our MATRIX, it's my view that they are formed from CORRUPT POLITICIANS/GIANT CORPORATIONS /PSYCHOPATHIC OLIGARCHIES ( e g World Economic Forum) For an excellent explanation of MATRIX, go to @YOU TUBE@ & look up @EINZEL GANGER@ Also, one of the VERY few good psychologists on this subject is ALICE MILLER - HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! And for those yet to work it out, our corrupt politicians, ETC have deliberately rigged the conventional education system so as to have us "dumbed down" by not teaching us PROBLEM SOLVING / CRITICAL THINKING - RIGOUR/LOGIC* - CAUSALITY TRAINS (in order to work out ORIGINAL CAUSE ) The reason for this is that our corrupt politicians do NOT want to be constantly challenged by an intelligent population! ( From my research this seems to be a GLOBAL problem! *Not being formally taught logic, we're forced to fall back on the Aristotelian logic still in common usage. Beig rubbish, forget about it & stRT USING non Newtonian multi causal holistic logic - FAR SUPERIOR! Cheers, Jim
  5. LOOKING FOR SOME RECOMMENDATIONS ON BUYING COOKING UTENSILS ( ALL UN-COATED STAINLESS STEEL) - & I prefer to avoid Pro cook, as not only are they pricey, but have a limited choice! ONE AIR FRYER ( My understanding is that AIR Fryers don't mix well with liquids such as sauces, etc., thus the need for pots, etc.[ Also, can anbody recommend value for money Air FRYER books for vegetarians? ] ) To this also ONE SMALL(6.6"/6.5 cms) pot ONE MEDIUM 7.4"/185 cms) pot ONE UNCOATED STAINLESS STEEL WOK @ ( 11.2"/280cms) While I've looked round the obvious places in Sheffield, they seem too often to be NINE piece sets which I prefer to avoid, so I can keep the cost down! Despite that, reasonably matching style would be ideal :) Cheers, Jim
  6. Hi, Thanks for the interest about the Pulsar, self winding watch Would you be good enough to give me some more details as to how to locate Atkinson's? Also, some idea of what your service cost you would also help. Cheers, Jim
  7. Hi, I'm still running on a steep learning curve on computers-internet. The basic system I've got is a Dell that I bought as a complete kit around 2004 with a Windows 7 tower, which now has a basic upgrade of a Windows 10 tower I bought off my oldest son as he was wanting to upgrade to a more games oriented set up. I've been using it for sometime now & it's been basically OK until a while back when I was using a multi/(4) port USB digital connector by "UGREEN" which appeared to burn itself out. However, unplugging it from the rest of the circuit & carrying on using it without the multi USB port, the system seemed to be working OK. Since then, the present problem is that I've lost my internet connection. This wasn't part way through me using it. But rather a question of it being OK one day, & the next day that I switched on & booted up, couldn't get an internet connection, & unable to, ever since. My initial suspicion fell on my router cable where there are two overlapping plastic "spade" style clips where compresssing the outer black one, in order to push the male plug into the female socket in the hole in the rear of the tower also compresses the two red coloured ( the outer are black in colour) inner plastic "spade" connectors thus locking the overall spade connectors in place, normally!-However, with the end of the cable router, with one red spade connector broken off, this allows the whole male plug to back off just over 1 m.m. backwards. - I've also been over all the other cable connectots & can't find any loose ones. However, I arranged a visit from my oldest son who brought over a few of his bits that were compatible & exchanged them over, so as to see if that made any difference to how well the computer worked. We swopped over the Windows 7 tower ( & both monitor to tower cables), the "router" cable, Keyboard & mouse, & none of them seemed to make any difference! Though I don't know any details, there is some talk on my street ( Wheatfield Crescent, S5) of poor connections & the fact that "Out Reach" who have a government mandate for some years for BT have a poor reputation, but I know of no specific problems that would also directly affect me. For a while I've been using my memory stick to transfer messages to & from beteeen my home computer & the public library. In the last week or so, when "booting up" the Windows 10 @ home I notice that the tower has got mechanically noisy, but when it has booted up, then that stops!( At which stage I fit my memory stick. - so whether it sorts itself out, by itself, or under the influence of the memory stick, i'm not sure? ) Unless somebody else on this forum has any better ideas, I've run out. That's pretty much as far as I can work out things @ my level, & should it be a problem with either of the towers, it's beyond me. With regards to taking it to a computer shop & getting bits checked out, I did once take it to a nearby one just off to one side of the Firth Park Library ( going down Sicey Avenue to the Firth Park roundabout-library, on the same side as the library, but off to the right hand side of the library by a few shops. He seemed entirely reasonable, but seems to have now moved on, either to retirement, or elsewhere, I don't know? The bus routes I mainly use are #s 75/76/88 & @ the traffic lights & cross roads @ main entrance to the Northern General Hospital, diagonally opposite is another computer shop - "Fir Vale Tech" Returning from city centre & passing under the "Wicker Arches", going up Spital Hill & passing the main Tesco supermarket, on the right, on the T junction on the left is a small blue shop on the corner, called "Suda Tech". ( I'm unsure of his opening hours, but certainly after returning late after an afternoon;s shopping it usually seems closed! I also note a computer shop diagonally opposite the cross roads-traffic lights @ the main entrance of the Northern General Hospital - called "Fir Vale Tech" Ideally, i'm looking for a reliable shop that gives value for money! Can anybody recommend either of those, or indeed anywhere else? - Presumably to get either - or even both towers checked out?And if I had to make a choice between which tower to get checked out, which should I go for first, the Windows 7 or Windows 10 ( the noisy one )? - And in an ideal world, I'd be looking for a shop that gives value for money! Cheers, Jim Lyon
  8. Hi, I've got a "Pulsar" self- winding watch that seems in need of a service, in that it stops overnight when I'm sleeping & even during day, time is starting to run slow. Can anyone recommend a "value for money" watch maker - jeweler where I can get that done. I live in Shiregreen S5, & the local buses are #'s 75/76/88. So anywhere between there & city centre would be most convenient. - T.I.A. Cheers, Jim
  9. JL - I went from Wi Fi 2 broadband, Having now completed my contract with BT - now up 2 £38 per month I need somewhere more like around £25 per month
  10. Regardless of what they might like to claim, "Wokists" give the impression most of them are extremely immature ( to the point of being very childish), emotionally unstable & only too happy to be extremely manipulative by deliberately engaging in emotional warfare, ETC. But then when corrupt politicians deliberately set up the conventional education system in order to have us "dumbed down", as the last thing they want is to be continually challenged by an intelligent population! What else do you expect? For those who have yet to work it out, this is a main weapon of our present version of the MATRIX ( from Pt. 1 of the sci fi film series of that name ) - The other weapon they use is when THE child psychologist ALICE MILLER wrote to all heads of state in the world, explaining the reason as to why the human condition is so TOXIC i.e. (because kids are born to be DEMOCRATIC, but over controlling parents would rather abuse them! - Which is why 90% of us are dysfunctional ! ) They all ( e g Tony Blair , George Bush & including the Pope ) chose to ignore her. Clearly the reason for that is because they all benefited from maintaining the status quo @ our expense !
  11. Hi, I'm still on a steep learning curve, regarding home computers & the internet.- A while back, in order to upgrade from Wi Fi & its attendant problems, I set up a contract with BT, as they are the only ones that would connect me up to THEIR phone lines. That contract has now run its course, & I feel I can now get better value for money elsewhere. Currently in my area, Shiregreen, S5 I have both Virgin Media & Talk Talk canvassing for customers. Whilst I know little of them, I do know that STILL suffering divorce induced poverty, any contract would have to be run on a shoe string e.g. NO bundles - I'm perfectly happy with basic broad band for about 25 GBP per month & for the little I use my mobile, I'm perfectly happy on O2 P.A.Y.G. Any reasonable suggestions will be welcomed. Cheers, Jim
  12. Hi, All I want to do is to inhibit a couple of engines & having started off with some cheap 20W/50 I prefer to stick to that grade. But now that I'm looking for another gallon to see me through, suddenly it seems to becoming rather scarce! e.g. Wicks/ Screwfix no longer do it & would rather sell me some expensive synthetic oil. - Which is a non starter for me. So, if anybody can recommend a suitable place preferably around city centre, & cheap & easily available, please let me know. If no 20W/50 is easily available, then I'll accept something reasonably similar. Failing that, any online recommendations? - TIA ! Cheers, Jim
  13. JL - I'm on BT because I needed their telephone line to get broadband. But @ £35+ per month for just the basics they are about £10 "too rich for my blood"
  14. It tastes a LOT better, doesn't go off so easily & most of all, it's NON processed. If you start to look @ the processed junk food we are palmed off with, it's actually quite poisonous - especially sugar as that can cause - cancer/diabetes & is THE biggest cause of tooth decay! - The sugar mixes with your mouth saliva, to form acid which rots your teeth ! That could have been a 4 hour conversation, butI'm in the library ^ about to be timed out!
  15. Hi, While I'm keen to tune up my diet, an all too common problem is healthier foods are more expensive, & I'm a pensioner. - Given that, can anybody tell me where I can get VALUE FOR MONEY 1) TAJ MAHAL brand ghee 2) Organic HONEY I live in Shiregreen & with my free bus pass can easily access most places close to the usual bus routes in Sheffield, though Sheffield center is more convenient. TIA Cheers, Jim
  16. JL - The original problem on the W10 tower was the picture froze, a "loading circle" appeared, & after a minute or so that "loading circle" also froze. I selected back, got a repeat, then it came up with a No internet connection. Later I changed over to the W7 tower & initially it appeared OK, , though there was nothing specific that I requested came up. So I left it for about 10 mins to settle down. Instead it went into "Energy Saving Mode" & shut down. During that 10 mins, the Wi Fi light kept pulsing on & off, as it would normally. As for cleaning up, I've taken off easy access panels & stuffed a vacuum cleaner inside, which removed mainly dust.
  17. JL - Ur "history" is my "context", but no point getting into that. - The problem is still the 'same' - boots up OK, but no internet connection ... - & BT deny it's their problem ...
  18. JL - Sorry, but I'm self taught , & as such you'd have to give me a lot more detail for me to understand - not that I object to learning Though I can say that my provider is BT ( I needed them to upgrade to fibre optics ) - & that, given their prices, I'd hope to leave soon. - So, if you can recommend a value for money, reliable provider, I'd certainly consider them.
  19. Hi, Bear with me, as I'm self taught on computers & the internet, but I'm guessing you mean provider? If so, it's BT I have been thinking of moving elsewhere, as they are not the cheapest, & the only reason I'm still with them was I was having lots of trouble using Wi Fi only. So upgrading to fibre optics made sense, & as I needed a land line running to the house to get a router, it was only BT who gave that facility, @ the cost of a minimum contract of one year, plus IIRC £140 for the work ! So, if you know of a cheap, reliable provider, I'm interested. A problem with BT is that while they are a public company, our less than entirely wonderful government insists that the maintenance is carried out by a private company ( Out/Open reach - or similar? ) & they skimp on repairs in order to maximise their profit as they have no interest in maintaining BTs reputation - so "class war"? Although it's too early yet, whilst BT are not admitting to any problems on their side, there is still the possibility of the guy I talked to being a Kafkaesque "gate keeper"? - You should be able to Google that? Cheers, Jim
  20. Hi, Well I've moved my computer upstairs & reconnected it with the Windows 10 tower, but not the Wi Fi aerial. I've connected the router cable to the tower & switched on. While their is a quite different tone whilst it's "booting up", it seems OK - until it tells me, yet again that I have no internet connection. So, basically back to where I was before - sigh ! Cheers, Jim Thanks for that : ) You are far more use than the help desk, who haven't bothered to reply.
  21. I'm aware that it's longish. But I've laid out the back ground context & worked through the problems in chronological order. If I hadn't, then somebody else would have complained of lack of detail! To simplify, with the Windows 10 tower, the picture froze, the "loading circle" came up, froze & then a message came up. saying I'd lost the inter net connection. With the Windows 7 tower, it seemed to be taking a long time to boot up ( long update after being out of use for some years? ) - Went into power saving mode & stopped! - Can't make it any simpler than that.
  22. Hi, I've lost my internet connection & everything I've tried doesn't work ! - The system I was using when it occurred was a 2004 Dell Windows 7 set up, upgraded to Windows 10, ( using a tower by ZALMAN [ those As should be upside down Vs, but I can't find a key to replicate that] that I bought off my son who wanted to upgrade to a bigger games console, & the deal suited both of us ) which has worked OK for the last few years - though for the last year or so it has developed a mechanical "scratchy" sound during start up, which quickly disappears. - I don#t know if that is relevant? The system is that there is a router upstairs, & my computer is down stairs & I use a Wi Fi aerial to get a connection & that has worked OK for years. This problem showed up when I was watching a channel on You Tube & the picture froze & then a "loading circle" appeared, but nothing happened. I then went back a page & the 'same' thing happened again ! Eventually a note from Google came up explaining that I'd lost the internet connection. By the time I looked @ it, the Wi Fi aerial was no longer flashing, so I started checking all the obvious connections in the aerial part of the system & tried using a different browser. but still no luck. - Shut down power & rebooted, but still no luck. So, I went through this a few times @ increasingly longer intervals, but still no change. The router upstairs was still showing a blue colour, so that seemed OK I then phoned up BT, to see if there was any problem on their end, but they reported no fault on their end ( but that's not a complete guarantee, as years back when I was upgrading to fibre optics, the technician was saying that they had problems with a supply box in my area [ Shiregreen ] simply because the management of their private company didn't want to spend money on maintaining a public company [ BT, despite that's what they are contracted for - so that smacks of covert class war ! ] - & realistically, it's a bit optimistic to assume that ALL the internet is of a uniform strength? ) so if nothing else that seemed to narrow the field of problems to my side - sigh ! Given that, & being a pensioner, I'm always looking for cheap options, so dragged out the old Dell Windows 7 tower & plugged that in & booted the system up. While that was "doing it's thing" I noticed that the light on The Wi Fi aerial had started flashing, so the internet connection seems OK, @ least. Being a self taught, & thus relative novice, what came up seemed fairly chaotic, but with hindsight, as the tower hadn't been used for several years, perhaps it was updating itself & had a lot to catch up on? So, that seemed relatively OK for about 10-15 mins., then an arbitrary ( as in I didn't select anything ! ) note came up telling me it was going into power saving mode, & then it shut down - & has been ever since ! So I went through the now all too usual series of shutting down & rebooting the system, with no results! However, I did notice one small anomaly, in that usually the monitor screen is a dark black, but after a minute or so, it appeared to lighten up to a dark grey, as if there were some kind of energy input? Whatever it was, the system still failed to achieve a full boot up. After numerous attempts @ the next stage of waiting for increasingly long intervals before another failed start, I'm still stuck in this stage of, while the computer appears to work OK, up to a point, I still can't access the internet ! Given that, I've now removed the Windows 7 tower & refitted the newer one with the Windows 10 set up. - So, I've run out of ideas & am stuck. Does anybody out there have any better ideas that can pull me out of a tight situation where I'm under a LOT of pressure especially now that while @ last the public library system may have finally upgraded to Windows 10, they only give ONE browser that provides use of a mail box! ( As in to obtain verification codes by mail requires TWO mail boxes to be set up, otherwise you are timed out [ As for sending it to my phone, as they charge for that, & won't accept their own verification codes, it rather looks as if that is a scam! ] ) Apart from other problems, on that alone, it seems that the new Public Library upgrade just doesn't "cut it". So, any suggestions or input would be welcomed - TIA Cheers, Jim
