  1. Terri, this is the reason I got Pops spayed asap. She had an early season as a pup and was ill as hell, I really really thought she was very seriously ill. Then had a phantom pregnancy, and then another straight after he next season which was only about 12 weeks later. She was so ill and miserable and, as you know, she is a very bouncy full of beans kinda girl normally, and so I got her spayed as soon as I was able. Poor girl and poor you, it's awful when you can't do anything for them x
  2. Spotted about 20 minutes ago running along the road together - one black, one black and tan - from the Harthill end of woodall lane towards woodall. I tried to stop and call them but they just kept on running and I couldn't turn the car round
  3. I will never forget Daisy...she was the dog to be groomed after mine that day. I never went there again.
  4. What an awful awful thing to happen and I am so very sorry to hear of it. But let's not turn it into a discussion about bull breeds? It's not just bull breeds that attack, I live next door to one that wouldn't say boo to a goose and actually he looks after my two littlies all the time. It's lovely to see him with them. Mine were attacked, numerous times, by a border collie and as I couldn't find where the owner lived the dog warden couldn't do much. The police were less than interested. I hope this person is found and made responsible for their dog's terrible actions
  5. Awww poor little thing, I hope he/she doesn't end up in the pound
  6. This pretty much here too. Alfie barks at the door to go out, Poppy doesn't make a sound so we have to watch her signs. She will wag her tail as well if you ask "want to go out?" but if she doesn't want to go out she moves away from the door. I am having the poo at night problem too with Poppy, mainly I think due to the fact it's freezing and raining and she just won't stay out. She will do a quick wee but won't always poo before bed, and if she doesn't she gets up in the middle of the night to do it. But she at least goes to the bathroom (lol!!) and does it on the lino. This happens with her every winter.
  7. Lots of dog rescues are desperate for dog walkers, I haven't heard of any imposing rules and times that you must be there, you are a volunteer after all not an employee. I used to just walk in to Thornbury and say hello, I'm here to help with walking. Same with Rotherham Dog Rescue. Not sure about cat rescues as obviously you don't take those for a walk, so they may have some restrictions health and safety wise on having a baby around. It's certainly worth ringing and offering!
  8. I'm so sorry you are going through this, something that will come to us all and we all absolutely dread, but you are doing the right thing letting her go if she has no quality of life anymore. I had to do this several years ago and the vet from Springfield Vets at Gleadless Town End came out to me with a nurse. He went very peacefully laid in my arms and although it cost a fair bit I am so glad I did it that way as I didn't want him stressed at the vets. I'm sure if you ring your vets and ask them they will do this for you, or at least point you in the direction of a vet who will. x
  9. Lol poor Dex!!! If you had asked sooner I could have made you one but I am very very slow at knitting and he wouldn't have it in time! Can you knit?? I have a few patterns I could email you....
  10. As I am currently sitting here having a break from: Removing tiles Sanding walls ready for painting Stripping wallpaper and am finding plaster dust in every crevice, then yes I most certainly would. If I could afford to. The thing is most DIY-ers do it all themselves to save the cost of a professional. And if I could afford a decorator to do the job for me, I would probably expect them to do the prep?
  11. Oh!! He looks just like my Alfie when he was that young.....awwwwww x
  12. Yep, probably eating it. One of mine does it and although it is disgusting to us I am told it is quite a natural thing for them to do. I have tried allsorts to stop her doing it including the flag thing H Hounds mentions, but ultimately the only way is to watch over the dog and pick it up as soon as possible. It's not always possible with mine as they do spend a fair amount of time out in the garden when I am in as I leave the door open for them, and I can't stand out there all the time. Interestingly she only does it in our garden. When she poops on walks she doesn't even attempt to eat it - but then she knows I am just about to pick it up I suppose.
  13. Do you know....I never even considered the clock change!! He is very stuck in his routine, bless him, so yes when tea is late on the odd occasion I dare do something else instead of put his food down at 5 he hangs around in the hallway where they are fed acting like the world has ended
  14. Another vote for Terri here. It's odd isn't it how we are so "British" and don't like to cause a fuss or complain! I've done the same - took my two shih tzu's to a groomers that I won't name but have been complained about on here many times. They were rude to me, told me because they had a few knots it would have to be "all off" and proceeded to yank the leads out of my hand and dragged them away from me (they are sometimes a bit nervous of me leaving them) - literally dragged them into the back of the shop and slammed the door.......and I didn't say a word!!! I really really don't know why. They were in a shaking upset mess when I picked them up too, and I still didn't say anything! But then thankfully I found Terri and she is absolutely great with them!
  15. Well it seems it could be a combination of suggestions above or just "one of those things". He's been much better since yesterday morning which could be because he's had no meds, or the fireworks have stopped, or he's got used to my new routine, or all of the above!! We had the first night without any fuss for a while last night, so that was great! Very strange.
