  1. As an ex british soldier, and still a reserve for the next few years yet, I find you repulsive and will no longer give you the time of day. you should be deeply ashamed of yourself. Dave Marshall, 4 Para, Leeds.
  2. so libya didnt blow up a plane over british soil? so iraq and afghanistan were not breeding grounds for terrorist teachings? I have served proudly in afghanistan, and those wars were just and so, to protect the world from these terrorist animals. a war continuing, and quite rightly so. do not dare call me a liar for this, as I have first hand knowledge, and was prepared to lose my life to protect the innocent. you are bang out of line here son, and dont have a clue about the real world.
  3. yes, I have been to these places, for both pleasure and during my stint in the forces, and I have seen evidence of this disgusting act. it seems that its the norm in these places, with little girls being told they are attending a party, and when they get there, they are led into a room and mutilated by some so called midwife (male or female) with filthy dirty tools. if this is acceptable, why are the girls lied to? why is this done? whose right is it to decide if a girl has a sex life or not? I will tell you, its not the right of any religion, and is a disgusting filthy and downright wrong thing to do. why are you not shouting this from the rooftops? watch it again. http://www.cbn.com/tv/1414018600001
  4. you said this "me and the wife watched a programme on tv " which TV programme was it? which channel? this is against Islam , I can guarantee there is nothing in Islam to support this, hence why i have never heard of it and i have lived in North africa http://www.cbn.com/tv/1414018600001
  5. here you are; http://blogs.tribune.com.pk/story/15979/female-genital-mutilation-many-pakistani-womens-painful-secret/ http://www.who.int/mediacentre/factsheets/fs241/en/ http://articles.timesofindia.indiatimes.com/2013-03-31/news-interviews/38162112_1_senior-women-fgm-priya-goswami disgusting, and well publicised in many publications and media forums around the world. not a lie, not propaganda, not from the mail.....its real, and you dont know nothing about it? now I really dont believe a word you say.
  6. me and the wife watched a programme on tv about fgm (female genital mutilation) that appears to be rife in muslim countries, especially north africa, eygpt, india and pakistan. is this disgusting accusation true, or does this not happen either?
  7. if you dont agree what is written in the media, complain to the media. people have a right to make their own judgements, and not be driven as to what is right or wrong by you.
  8. the problem with yougov is that their perception of a poll involves less people than a mori poll. that said, their claim of 55 percent is questionable.
  9. it may be true that sheffield retail offer is sadly lacking, and it may also be true that people thought the council may have been anti-car 30 years ago, but this is 2013, and people attitudes have changed to the modern way of thinking. I dont think it is wrong to say that sheffield really has lost the plot when it comes to what people really want, yet the last few posts have done nothing to change my mind that our city has lost its way. its a real shame because sheffield used to be a real vibrant and excellent shopping experience. its clear that the current economic climate has affected the retailers, but their plight is not being alleviated by the way our centre is run, by both the traffic systems and the charging for paying retail customers. if there is no carrot, then nobody will bite, and people will continue to shop at meadowhall and retail parks just like it. just out of interest, is there a retail park anywhere that charges for parking? probably not, because those guys who plan them know how important the motor car is to todays shopper.
  10. but still a charge nonetheless, for a service that dosent come close to the other major cities.
  11. thank you for that spikemac, although I never set out to have my driving abilities judged, but my point is that history is proving that shoppers prefer to use their cars, and in this day and age of every penny helps, parking charges are obscene. yes there are people who do use buses, but there are also many who wish to use their motor cars. dont you agree that should parking in town be free of charge, many more people would start to revert back to shopping there? other cities may have similar parking charges to ours, but in fairness sheffield centre is hardly on a par to leeds or manchester. ---------- Post added 06-05-2013 at 23:27 ---------- that is where the councils blinkered vision comes into play. other cities are much more desirable to shop in than sheffield, which saddens me to say, but that is the state in which our centre is at.
  12. pretty easy planner1. sheffield has become very anti-car over the last few years, and im old enough to remember how it was, and still capable of making a judgement on how it is now. im lucky enough not to work in the city centre, and can really see the benefits of out of town shopping areas, especially when they offer free parking. I can see what you are and what you do, and I appreciate how difficult and stressfull you job may be, but maybe it would be nice if our town planners took a step back, and looked at it from the shoppers point of view. regardless of how much you come here on the forum and tell us all how wonderful the planning department is, im afraid you probably need to take a step back and look at it again. for a start, town centre parking should be free of charge, to try and entice people back into the centre on shopping days. you may not agree with this, but I can assure you this small gesture would change the face of the city centre and help all those businesses who are struggling to stay afloat. the biggest problem that the council are failing to acknowledge is that in 2013, people want to use their cars, and if you dont make that prospect available cheaply, then your designs for our city centre will be your undoing.
  13. totally agree, however with all the new bus lanes and bus gates popping up over our city, it does feel that whoever is in charge of implementing them does have a little bias against the motor car. mrs dave used to love going into town shopping, and having the comfort of the car, which meant she could buy as much as she could (pennies allowing), but she wouldnt dream of going into town for a large item on the bus. it appears that the designers of these new systems assume all shoppers want to use public transport, and dont want to buy very much. that does appear to be a little bit stupid, but heh, what do we mere mortals know about life!
