I would highly recommend Piccolinos in Millennium Square - but really depends what you are looking for.

Biggest range of prams/travel systems in the region?
Alker replied to Yeti's topic in Sheffield Parenting Group
I was looking for the same thing a few months ago. The best one I found was Pramworld in Wigan - they also have a web site and if you link up with them on facebook you can ask them any questions you want - they give very good advice. I bought my iCandy Strawberry from them in December - had it on order with them 3 months - it only came out in December and I was probably one of the first people in Sheffield to have one as not even John Lewis had stock of them. They sell a huge range of prams and their showroom in Wigan is fantastic - bit of a drive for you 1 1/2 hours on a good day (my family live there). Both me and my sister have bought prams from them and customer service has been fab. -
Adz - this is the type of thing I was thinking of - is there a specific place where you collect such donations?

I have quite a lot of very good like new good quality baby girls clothes I want to give away. I would really like to help out some new mums who may be struggling at the moment with the soaring cost of having a new baby. Please nobody reply to this saying they want them - I am after some advice of where I can take them to to make sure the right people benefit from them. I was wondering if a local Sure Start centre would be the best place. What do you think??

Stressing because of midwife and appointments
Alker replied to XgirlieX's topic in Sheffield Parenting Group
Hi there, know how you are feeling been through exactly the same thing. Its a very worrying time for you. Just ask for an early scan as CLE-CKY says. I had one at Jessops at around 9 weeks (I lost my first at 8 weeks) and got the photos after just as you would at your 12 week scan. It did put my mind at rest a little but it wasn't really until my 20 week scan that I started to believe everything would be ok. I'm now due in a few weeks time. Ask for another midwife straight away. Good luck and congratulations x -
Due in 2 Weeks or Less - Pram Considerations
Alker replied to CRachel's topic in Sheffield Parenting Group
I've been looking for one at the moment - its a mine field looking for a pram - especially if its your first child. I joined the Which web site and their top recommended pram is the Uppababy Vista. I saw it in a shop the other day its very nice but quite big. I've still not a clue - its seems to be a very personal opinion. -
Advice on Areas to live in Sheffield
Alker replied to earmstro's topic in Sheffield Property & Housing
Nether Edge sounds just right from your descriptions of what you are looking for. I have lived (just off Psalter Lane) for 6 years now. All within walking distance are lovely parks - at least 3, near to good range of shops and supermarkets and you can walk into town in 30 mins ( we never had a car for the first 3 years of living here and never really missed one). I do not live near any students - they seem to keep closer to Ecclesall Road, and its very quiet and perfect for raising a family. We are about to move to Dore - on request of my other half always wanting to live there but I would stay around this area if it was totally up to me. -
I've checked with my new post code on the internet - I thought these were just estimated speeds though? That's why I wanted to know from someone who is actually living there. Maximum estimated speed it said was 6Mb my actual at the moment is more than double this.

Hi - anyone live in Dore and can tell me which provider provides the fastest broadband service??? Living close to town centre at the moment, I realise my speed will decrease from what I have now but I'm a bit worried by how much. I have looked into this using the online web sites but its always better to get advice from someone using the services already. Thanks!

Window Manufacturer and Installers
Alker replied to MrTrigger's topic in Sheffield Property & Housing
I used Yorkshire Windows for some french doors - not the cheapest but a very good job and I am not easy to please. I would use them again. -
Its a mess - I live nearby as well. It just brings the area down it could be such a lovely house and as for the "new gate" well ummmmmmmmmmm

We are selling our house and the survey has thrown up that we have damp issues so the buyers have had 2 damp specialists round. I am lead to believe both reports differed considerably in where the damp was and to what the extent the damp issue is. This is no surprise as I realise that these guys are out to find fault in order to make a living hence not charging to come out to do a "survey". I would like to get an independent damp surveyor round to check out what exactly the problems are. Does anyone know of a good company in Sheffield?

I used to do this route for about 8 months every day of the week a few years ago. It was a nightmare then. I gave up my job in the end and looked for something closer to home as I kept thinking one of these days one of these idiot drivers on the snake pass ( and there are a lot of them!) is going to drive me off the road - I would class myself as a good confident driver but the snake pass on a dark winters night/morning is dangerous!!! Good luck
