  1. Apparently because of poor work methods and practices brought into play by the management of Sova Recycling Ltd, they have now been fined £80.000 which should be going back into the SCC funds to help alleviate the hard times that Sheffield Rate Payers are going through. Well, the £80.000 would have gone back to the people of Sheffield if someone at the Townhall hadn't told Sova Recycling Ltd to forget paying the whole sum back, just give us £2.000 instead. It's nice to know that there's a still a little heartfelt charity going on, even though sheffielders are going through a rough patch!

  3. The main issue of our strike is about getting one hour per day added throughout the year at a cost of £98.000.00. From what I hear and the feedback I get talking to the majority of the public who come onto the Douglas Rd site, everyone would be happier if the sites were opened at 09.00 every morning and closed at 18.00. In winter the hours could be reduced by one and close at 17.00. These times could be implemented at each site and ensure a saving of thousands of pounds which is what the cost of counter measures for fly-tipping will be. Opening at these times will also alleviate all the traffic problems that we are now being faced with. The MMH contractor who has allowed his lorry depot to be used as a dump-it site is being paid £165.000.00 per month by the Sheffield City Council and that's a fact! As a matter of interest part of the Veolia management team are working on the MMH site today.
  4. They've been in decline for some years now, people have got wise to their policy of 'print to sell' rather than print the truth, which should have some sort of place in reporting and informing a community who are expected to support it!
  5. Five Recycling Centres in Sheffield, Douglas Rd, Beighton, Blackstock, Highgreen and Deepcar. The Recycling Centre at Douglas Rd is the only one open seven days. Two of the largest Recycling Centres, Beighton and Blackstock are closed on various days of the week, Blackstock also happens to generate the highest tonnage of any site. None of the Recycling centres have a pedestrian walkway which is simply down to bad planning. Early last year a Sheffield City Councillor informed a member of the public that walking onto the sites is allowed, since that day we have always allowed members of the public to walk onto the sites; as Recycling Operatives we've advised the public against this practice because in our opinion 'it's an accident waiting to happen', however, we are not allowed to stop the public accessing the sites on foot. This week a senior manager from Veolia came onto our site at Douglas Rd and told us to stop allowing the public to walk onto our site. Because the public were not taking any notice of us (and why should they, they pay their rates the same as everyone) the Senior Veolia Manager came back onto our site again today and tried to implement this directive himself. After informing one of the public walking his refuse onto the site and standing in such a way so as to bar the customers entrance, the manager was roughly shoved out of the way and also given some fairly down to earth advice! The Senior Veolia Manager then immediately left the site in his car. Well done!
  6. Isn't it easy to slag people off whilst remaining anonimous, you three jerk-offs sound like three real hero's. Anybody can shout the odds from five mile away, come to the Sirecliffe tip and lets have a word together so that I can explain things to all three of you!!!
  7. I've just read on the Sheffield Star's website that the introduction of fortnightly bin collections will start next month. I can't remember that being on the agenda when Labour asked me to vote for them at the last local election. Kept that one up their sleeve didn't they. What a little miracle worker Jack Scott is. First the dump-it sites and now the bins. How are we going to accommodate all the fly tippers? Perhaps if Jack Scott is reading any of this he'd like to leave his address so that we can re-direct them to his street.
  8. Who's Jack Scott? I heard him on Radio Sheffield the other day, he wants to close the dump-it sites and make some of the staff redundant and is blaming it all on the conservatives; I thought it was greed initiated by the contractors who run the sites, Veolia and Sova with some misguided information from the Sheffield City Council. Is Jack Scott even from Sheffield? Jack wont remember what an eye-sore Sheffield used to look like. Well, here come the fly tippers again!
