  1. I've been told that Beeches is for sale so maybe that's an opportunity to think about running it as a community asset. We'd need a good strong team of people willing to take responsibility for management. We struggle to find help at the community centre and are currently run on a shoestring by a tiny team of overworked volunteers. The Walkley Festival is also having problems finding people willing to step forward to do the work needed to organise it. Still, I'm thrilled Walkley has achieved hipster:D I could see we were heading that way after Gertie's had it's makeover. I love the hipster trend
  2. Let us help you get into the Christmas spirit! We are holding our annual Winter Craft Fair on Saturday 12th November 2-5pm. A great opportunity to buy beautiful gifts, support your community centre and local crafts people. There will be quality craft stalls, cafe with home-made bakes, mulled wine and a penny social raffle downstairs in Ruskin Hall, charity stalls & activities upstairs. To book a table (£15 Maker, £5 Charity/Activity) contact Natalie via events@firstreet.org.uk. Any donations of cakes & raffle prizes gratefully received.
  3. If you put Holly Hagg into the same search bar on Facebook it will come up with their group & contact details. They are owned by a group of volunteers and they have lots of open days
  4. There are several in Walkley. One at Walkley Community centre - see website for details, there is also a group at Greenhow st hall run by Hannah Penn and a yoga centre on burgoyne rd.
  5. We've got 4 full sized tables at Walkley Community Centre which is not that far from you (though admittedly up a big hill). Pretty cheap too. See website for details
  6. S6 Flix is showing Home Alone at Walkley Community Centre this Saturday. Doors open 3.30pm for 4pm film start Live music, xmas colouring table (if kids or adults need a break) mulled wine, gingerbread coffee, popcorn, sweets. Dress up if you feel festive! All welcome! Come and help us raise money for the community centre. All procedes go to keep the centre running.
  8. I don't know of any. We all have to cover our running costs even when run by volunteers like us. The sheffield help yourself website(sorry no links on my phone) has a list of all community halls for hire if you want to call and ask.
  9. Have you looked on the Sheffield help yourself website. That lists all "village" halls for hire which are your best bet
  10. Did Chanchan used to sell clothes as well? It's ringing vague bells. I think I had a couple of dress by them.
  11. Walkley Festival this year is 20th June to 5th July: if you think you might be interested in putting on an event and helping fill our programme with something for everyone, please get in touch! walkleyfestival@gmail.com we've already got exercise classes, dancing, film shows, hula hooping, Japanese Star Festival, but there's still plenty of room for more
  12. Contact Rick 07768341122 and he will talk to you about community centre snooker.
