We have had exactly the same fault with our mk4 golf and have purchased a vag cable thingy from eBay for £7:50 best thing we ever bought unfortunately this is a well known fault with vw golfs but before we found this out we'd spent loads on ours trying to solve it but still no such luck so vag it is till it goes

Thanks everyone for your comments I can assure you they have all been noted. Even so I know my child more than any one and I can honestly say she didn't understand what she said would have had such an impact and it WAS said in all innocence in the first place we do have to remember that not all children grow up as fast as each other. I think I've said all I'm going to say on this now as we are just going round in circles. Thanks again x

Unfortunately when the school seems to allow the bullying of my child for the past year after numberous complaints what more can I do. She knows to an extent it was wrong to use the word but as it wasn't aimed at an individual doesn't understand why. Basically it's just a case of ppl reading far too much in to a childish comment.

Hey I'd have no problem with that you can't help who you fall in love with but the issue was she was punished without my knowledge until after which according to the school isn't the way they deal with things.

Cheaky sod I wasnt the one with the issue about the word in the first place why should I have had to explain I have no problem with the word and she wouldn't have used it at home anyway

No I'm not missing it I understand exactly. But what I'm saying is she'd never used it before and never really knew what the word ment let alone that it was an insult. Like I've said in a recent comment you can't punish a child for something they don't understand, explain to them and then tell them if they use it in that way again they will be punished. Unfortunately it is now up to me as the parent to explain to her.

This is what we've told her but we have also had to explain what the word means in all it's meanings even though I find at 7 years old this was quite inappropriate although we did just say its when two men or two women love each other. And I feel that the school making an issue of this has provoked this explanation they have the issue they should have explained why it was inappropriate after all she was in there care at the time. Sorry but I have issues with the school and this is just another one to my list that I feel are wrong ways of doing things.

Exactly you can't punish a child for something they don't understand. Explain and tell them they will be punished for using it

Tbh how can she not use this word as it does have other meanings would the same thing have happened I wonder if she'd have used other words like "fag, faggot, puff, queer, queen" need I go on. I mean she only has to mention that i have a gay friend and that means she's using the word which she been told to be a bad word.

You yourself have said exactly what my point was she didn't understand, punishment I believe was not the way explanation would have been better. Don't be so silly my point about my friends was that they were gob smaked they don't speak for the countries gays but if they don't have an issue with it why should anyone else.

Omg Suffragette1 that's just a prime example of how quick kids grow up these days. I'm not oblivious to what goes off but in the it's all part of learning and they shouldn't be punished for that.

At the end of the day I have gay friends who themselves can't believe she was punished in this way for using the word in the first place. The school have made it a homophobic issue now not us. I mean it's a word used all over the place daily. Kids playground banter is at this age just kids learning new words and thinking its funny to use them was you not once a child. Your all entitled to your options but please don't pull my daughter to bits for learning about the world.

JLS or gay LS either way she wasn't saying they are homosexual she repeated something one of her other friends used so now who's interpreting it as homosexual insult as I said before gay can mean a number of things nowadays. And I'm not saying wether the other child lied or not it was just another incident between my daughter and this bully and as always my daughter gets into trouble if it had been the other way round my daughter would have got told to stop telling tales. She is 7 for god sake still learning words was you never that age as some one previously said at that age children use words and do t fully understand what they mean and get confused that they have differant meanings personally I think who ever the child have been the school shouldn't have punished them at this age but explained why they think it's a bad word to use instead that was up to me and I didn't want to have to have this sort of discussion with my 7 year old just yet.

All these comments just show ppls different opinions on the word which in the first place was NOT used to bully anyone as it was asked as a question "who likes gay LS ". One thing I thought was that although the school has rules that punishment like this in primary school should be told to the parent was going to happen to the child before they took place this was not the case. also it was another child that told the teacher so the teacher never herd my child say it in the first place and could have been a lie to start with but the school choose to act on it. As for bullying don't get me started on that, the child that originally told on my daughter for this has been bullying my daughter for the past year and after speaking to the school to look into it on several occasions still continues to happen. Infact one incident (not my daughter) of detention ended up in a child not been able to have lunch now where is that the right punishment. I can assure you that the parents of this child have took this further. I know how this word can be interpreted but I for one will not stop her from using it as long as she uses it correctly and as I'm the parent here is it not up to me how I bring up my child. Schools these days think they can stop your child from having sweets / chocolate/ crisps and fizzy drinks for lunch or anytime for that matter but then allow them to take these things in for celebrations like birthdays / holidays. They want them to take water to school but are not allowed to drink it when they want or even use the toilet when they need to. They need to get things sorted out as its not good practice if one time its allowed and then it's not. No wonder the poor kids are confused.

Ruby dazzler you hit the nail on the head there, they are still babies and as a 43 year old mother I'm probably old fashioned but I think in today's age they are taught to grow up far too quickly at 7 yrs old I'd never have thought I'd have had to explain this sort of thing to her.

Read op the school was challenged this happened over two weeks ago and is being looked into and I trust my daughter to be honest she told me exactly what she said like she did the school and my husband I can tell when she's lying unlike ppl that don't know my daughter and pass comments on here about her when they clearly don't

What's that ment to mean ? There are numberous meanings for the word gay or have you not looked it up recently. She didnt use it in an abusive way and certainly not the way ppl have made out. Like I say she's no angel but she knows right from wrong.

I'm not saying she's an angel lol but I thought this was just taken far too serious she only understood that the word ment that two men / women who liked each other .

Basically all she said was gay LS for JLS another incident at the same school was some kids calling another one fat so he called them gay guess who got into trouble yes the poor lad that said gay. I was really annoyed that this was taken this far in the first place. Just wanted some comments on this thanks x
