  1. After waiting 5 weeks for a telephone consultation with a doctor about tinnitus in my ears, she said there was nothing she could do about it.I asked if I could have a hearing test and if it might help. Her reply was ,can you hear me speaking over the phone because I have a quiet voice.I replied yes,she said well you don’t need a hearing test your ears are fine.I presume that was my hearing test over the phone, that’s one way of saving money.

  2. I now live in Scarborough and it is now 5 weeks to see or even speak to a doctor over the phone.I thought it was a shortage of doctors but on asking around the surgery I was told that it was the number of registered patients to the surgery that was the problem ,it had more than doubled. The council says that the towns population has not changed over the years but I believe it’s the government putting pressure on them to say that.

  3. In our town it is now 5 weeks to see or speak to a doctor at our practice. On asking a nurse why this was I was shocked by her reply .She said they had the required number of doctors but the number of registered patients to the GP practice had doubled. The council has recently said there is no change to the population of the town, but I think it is the government pressurizing the council to say that.

  4. Talking about Hastings insurance my car renewal came up and it had gone up £150 ,I checked on internet and low and behold Hastings was offering my type of policy £150 cheaper.I rang Hastings up but she said it didn’t apply to drivers who already had a Hastings policy.I said I would go elsewhere and put the phone down. After about 5 mins the phone rang it was them and they agreed to do the policy £150 cheaper .The next year I got the renewal letter from Hastings and it said they couldn’t find anybody to insure me.So I rang them and they said they had tried all over but nobody would take me on.Bearing in mind I have been continuously driving for 55 years ,never had a claim ,never had an accident,no endorsements .I must have been flagged and it was a case of getting their own back, very petty.I consider it their loss and I would not now touch them with a barge pole.

  5. A couple of years ago I haggled with Hastings insurance and they reluctantly agreed to reduce the price ,but the year after they got there own back as they said they couldn’t get anyone to insure me.At the time I had been driving for 55 yrs continuously with no claims and no convictions.

Oh well, gee, lemme guess: slam the door out on WTO terms, when the Article 50 instrument was delivered to Brussels at end March 2017.

    AmIrite or amIrite?

It's quite amazing some people are still that dumb 4 years on. When even the very shysters who sold them the Leave vote 4 years ago, Johnson-Gove-Raab-& Co. are going on the record clear and loud now, and telling like it is and always was: this is going to hurt.

Or maybe they're posting to get a rise and laugh. Heh, I guess we'll see who laughs loudest in a few months, deal or no deal. Read up about VAT changes yet?

While I bow to your obvious knowledge of the workings of the EU and politics LOOb ,I can’t help thinking your replies on this website smacks at William Joyce(Lord Haw Haw).Do you really dislike the UK and it’s inhabitants that much?

  7. My state pension is £128 per week ,my wife’s is £80 per week ,it was £34 but because when I came onto pension with full dues paid it went up to £80.Can’t claim additional pension because I made the mistake of saving for my retirement and have too much in savings. Not moaning we are ok but I am surprised at the huge discrepancy of state pensions

  8. We saw him last year on stage,he was in a sorry state ,not the doddy we had come to know and love,he was even turning round to the drummer asking for the punch lines. At the end of the night the audience stood up as one and all clapped ,no shouts for more a truly moving experience as it was thanking him for all those years of entertaining them.A true great of the entertainment business.

  9. Hi Tez ,my name is Roy I didn't play in the Knights but I saw them and knew them.I remember Sean Piggott his brother Vin,Chell Morton and Roy Mcginley and also Phil Wright .I used to play in a band at that time called Big Ben and the Chimes, perhaps you heard of them.I am in good contact with Sean if you want me to relay any message to him.

  10. Yes most of clubs concert secretaries were hard working and honest but you got the odd scammer who disgraced the title. The scam goes like this:- The artistes are on a fee of £28 the concert secretary comes in the dressing room at the end of the night to pay the act he presents a receipt book to sign for a fee of £45 saying if we sign there's an extra £5 for us so we are presented with £33.That means the secretary can pocket £12 for himself. This happened to us more than once

  11. What handypandy said brings back fond memories. We were in a band and used to get around in an old ford zephyr estate.Problem was there wasn't enough seating in the front for all of us.So the smallest and thinnest of us used to make himself rigid and we would pick him up and feed him into the back with the gear just like a mic stand.Health and Safety today would have a field day.

  12. Always remember Woodhouse Central club ,it had a huge long concert room we arrived too early and were the only ones in so we sat at a table next to the stage, there seemed to be hundreds of empty tables. At the back of the room we saw two dots come in and shuffling along they got bigger and bigger till the old couple came up to our table and promptly informed us we were sitting at their table,we pointed out all the empty tables but they were having none of it and the chairman told us to move.Incredble :)
