  1. House of Fraser Meadowhall is being converted in to 1 of 3 flagship Flannnels stores outside London. Meadowhall is expected to be around 30,000 square feet in size. https://www.theguardian.com/business/2020/dec/19/mike-ashley-to-defy-odds-with-opening-of-giant-flannels-stores?CMP=Share_iOSApp_Other https://fashionunited.uk/news/retail/flannels-to-open-3-regional-flagships-in-2021-including-liverpool-megastore/2020121852626
  2. 😂😂 - not a regular, just someone who knows what he wants. All the short cuts (between departments / marketplace areas) have been blocked off in Ikea, so you are forced to follow a set route in the market place (no nipping between departments to bypass areas), so I simply followed the route to the section I wanted in the market place (ignoring everything else), picked up what I wanted (30 seconds), headed straight to the tills, payed for it & left. Most of my time was simply having to walk to the specific section trying to avoid or bypass the numpties (who have no concept of social distancing) who saunter along in groups of 2, 3 or 4 (blocking the main aisles) without a care in the world, forcing everyone else to either wait behind them or have to try & quickly cut by them when an opportunity presents itself.
  3. I was at Ikea yesterday (Thurs 4th June ) at 14:25, queued for 10 mins to get in & no queues to pay at 15:30.
  4. Check out this store online. They sell hundreds of different mini figures. Far more than you’d get at the Meadowhall Lego shop. https://www.firestartoys.com/Shop/LEGO-Minifigures.html
  5. This is the company website & press release relating to the Ski village project. https://www.extremesportscompany.com/extreme-destination-sheffield
  6. Unless SCC actually own the shop / building / lease etc. Then what has it got to do with them what its used for. It's likely a private landlord who owns the shop. Now that Clinton's have moved out, they are likely renting out the space at a discounted rate as a short term measure until they get a long lease client to sign up. As far as i am aware, unless it's being used against its classification i.e. Shop is classified as A1 & its being used as a A4 then SCC have nothing to do with it & have no power to stop it opening. Clinton's would be classified as A1 & the cheap 'tat' shop would also be classed as A1. If you want to blame someone then blame the landlord for allowing a 'tat' shop to open in their premises. Seems this is another thread simply to bash SCC.
  7. All their fees are clearly shown on the website & to answer you question, Yes the 12.5% booking fee is normal. http://www.sheffieldcityhall.co.uk/ticketing-fees-explained/
  8. When i've bought Wagu, I normally have to buy it online (unless i'm in London & can buy it in 2 shops i know that sell it). Good quality Wagu is hard to find in most shops never mind in Sheffield. I've not tried this company yet, but looks OK. http://www.iforswelshwagyu.co.uk/index.html
  9. I hadn't driven up Crookes Rd since the resurfacing had started, but having driven up it on Good Friday my impression was that this was a very poor quality job. It looks like it was was quickly, cheaply & shoddily undertaken by Amey & their contractors. It looks cheap, it looks uneven in numerous places, it looks like they simply dug around the raised speed bumps & laid the Tarmac up to & over the edge, likewise with the kerbs, a lot have been damaged by the machine which rips up the old Tarmac etc. Very poor quality & I won't be surprised if it will need refuser ain't a lot sooner than they expect.
  10. I had problems yesterday (Wed 27th) at home with DAB Radio 2 & Radio 4. My car as DAB & had exactly the same problem where it kept on auto switching between DAB Radio 2 & FM Radio 2 (only switches if there is a poor digital signal). But once I had left the Sheffield area & was on the M1 southbound I had no issues & DAB worked perfect. When driving back home last night, no issues until is started coming close to Sheffield & it started auto switching to FM. So my guess is that there is a local transmitter issue.
  11. You will need special heat resistant glass. Check out http://www.stove-glass.com/stove-glass-heat-resistant

  14. I get last 100 days also as default as well. Manually having to change the threads i use to from the beginning.
  15. They closed over the Xmas & New Year period, but it's been open since the New Year. I had fish & chips from them on Thursday night (15th Jan). So not sure why you think it's been closed for the last few weeks as it's been open since around the 5th Jan.
  16. Gritter came down Springvale Road (below Commonside to Ashberry and) around 12 noon today (Tuesday 30th) & was spreading grit.
  17. You could try OFCOM at http://www.ofcom.org.uk Or try the Information Commisioners Office at http://ico.org.uk OFCOM will deal with the complaint about O2 & ICO may also get involved re: a Data protection complaint.
  18. I listened to Chris Evans this week & I certainly don't feel uncomfortable with the "things that money can't buy" auctions & the amount of money people were bidding. I certainly don't feel that they were parading their wealth in front of the nation as some on here have suggested. The whole point of the auction is to make AS MUCH money as possible, so if that means certain wealthy individuals pay huge sums for the big events year in year out then who really cares. These events are produced at no cost to Children in Need & I would rather a very wealthy person won the auction with a bid of say £100k, than a poorer person win the same auction with a bid of say £3k. Again, the whole point is to make AS MUCH money as possible. Not to satisfy those people who seem to think they should be allowed to bid a low amount to get on these events. There are hundreds, if not thousands of ways for people to take part in Children in Need & the "things that money can't buy" auctions are just a very, very small part of it. I was encouraged by the fact that people were being so generous (however wealthy they were) and I was especially pleased that an 'unnamed donor' was going to match the highest bidder. So on a successful bid of £100k Children in Need would actually get £200k. On a side note, I would have loved to have bid in the auction & could probably have stretch to 3k or 4k, but do I care that my bid was way off & I had no chance of winning, NO because Children in need would have received circa 96k more with a successful bid of 100k. Again the whole point is to make AS MUCH money as possible.
  19. Check out http://www.tvdiscountcentre.co.uk they charge £10 for the initial investigation & then let you decide if you want to proceed. If you proceed with the repair then the £10 is then included in the repair costs. I've used them twice on two separate TV's & the repair costs were very reasonable & only took a day or 2.
  20. Luckily my 2 dogs had just deposited a rather large pile of poo each & the free Sun came in very handy for picking it up & dumping in the trash. Didn't even bother opening it to see what it contained.
  21. You need to check with the specific airline(s) you are flying with as they all have slightly different rules. Easyjet & flybe for example let you fly (in the UK) with an expired passport as long as it expired within the last 2 years. Having had a quick look on a few airlines & they are all similar, some take company ID cards with a photo as long as it's a nationally recognised company I.e BT or The AA, they won't recognise an photo ID card from Joe Bloggs motors in Sheffield. Check your specific airline on the web, then call them & make a note of who gave you the info (name, date & time etc) as when you get to the airport some jobs worthy may decline to let you travel. Having the name & contact number of the airlines customer service rep you spoke with may help. Key thing check with your specific airline 1st.
  22. I heartily recommend Jeff the Joiner (jsmith2009). He has just completed relaying & levelling a new subfloor as well as fitting new solid oak flooring & skirting in my home office & he has done a fantastic job. Both Jeff & his helper Matt were both studious, on time & Jeff did exactly what he said he would & consulted me at every stage if things needed changing. The original quote for the work was acceptable, but as Jeff finished earlier than planned & we had to change some of the work due to the floor structure, he amended the quote downwards. A lot of builders would have tried to keep it at the higher price, but Jeff lowered it without me having to ask. Honest & trustworthy are two words that come to mind. Would I use Jeff the joiner again? - definitely.
  23. They did our entire street in mid Dec (S6), they stated that they were checking all the drains as a precautionary measure. I suppose before the bad winter weather hits & to stop possible callouts at a later date. They had ID & were happy to show it. Though if you're still concerned, as others have said call Yorkshire Water & check with them.
  24. There's a thread about a Tesco opening in the Old Stonehouse in which you state that a new Tesco is opening at the Springvale pub & I quote "I have heard from my uncles, cousins, brother in laws friend, that there is to be a new Tesco on Commonside, where the Springvale pub is". The pub has a big sign stating that's it's being leased / looking for a new tenant as a going concern / business. It's not for sale so how could Tesco have bought it? Plus, I doubt that they would get planning permission to convert to a Tesco due to there being on the 0.2 mile stretch of road between the Springvale pub (Springvale Rd) and Crookesmoor Road a new newsagents / mini market a Co-op, a Costcutter, a brand new Sainsburies & the old Asian mini market. That's 5 super / mini markets in a small area.
