I remember going in redgates to look at all the model railway , there was a chap who worked there in a wheelchair who used to build layouts in store and it seemed there was nothing he didn't know about model trains.he used to do all the repairs to on the counter too.he used to always ware a brown smock.
  2. The other factory was called robert sorsby they used to make ice skates.
  3. There was two factorys on that site hattersley and davidsons and one that made ice skates forgot name.if you want info about people who worked there feel to email

  5. can anybody remember the wooden cabin that used to be at the bottom of fraser road woodseats that used to sell sweets newspapers and cigs. it was oppisite the entrance to laycocks social club.
  6. can anyone remember any names of people who first move there in 1953.
  7. the fruit shop was owned by jean naylor who had two shops the other was at the top of the dale. there was a pork shop at the side of the fruit shop called swindons and we used to get bag and chitlin and go into big tree and eat it. terry the manager at the time used to go barmy. any one remember terry and june coe who took over from eric bennett who went on to manage the aquarius club in chesterfield.
  8. does anyone remember the tree when it was a proper pub with the betting office by the side of it called holland and endtwicle.
  9. alex did have a driver and he only dealt in cash. all the painters who worked for him used to get paid in the big tree pub every friday. he only wore brown shoes whitch he bought from easyfit on woodseats. i know he had a least one brother mick and his language left nothing to the imagenation. he lived on the corner of holmhirst road and moorview road.

  11. when abbey taxis was based on pexton road maggy was one of the radio operators who married ken fowler who had i think the first non black cab in sheffield it was blue. i had a radio in the cab i used to drive call sign 12.norman hattersleys wedding present to me were his 2 white mercs.greasys veras use to be on the corner of farm road and granville road. she was moved to the bottom of rock st where we all met after work.my brother had one of the first private hire vechiles on abbey a bronze ford capri.any one remember rupert?.a few more name from the good old days,bob colton,midge who use to have chips and six eggs in whimpies on fargate,and lover to name a few.the taxi officer was mr nelson who made me move off trap one on fitzalan square reason dirty cab.good days.
