This has been a topic on this Forum in the past, but I think it deserves fresh mention, so I would like to join those who would NOT recommend the children's swimming lessons at King Edwards.
Not only that the facilities are decrepit and unhygienic. That would even be just about tolerable if the actual swimming lessons were any good. Which they aren’t. Shall we say the instructors’ tone towards the kids is ‘robust’, i.e. there is a lot of shouting and hardly any positive encouragement going on. Plus the ‘lessons’ consist of a seemingly endless repletion of the same drills.
My kids, who are both pretty water confident, had to be dragged there after the first sessions, until we finally gave up. When I told the instructor that we weren’t happy with the course, she agreed that the method they used was not much fun for the kids, and if we wanted them to have fun, we’d best go elsewhere. This, at least, was helpful advise which we gladly accepted...
