  1. Try ringing the bank. I know HSBC will temporarily increase the amount you can draw off your card. I wanted more than my £350 amount in one day from a cash machine so they upped it to £1000 for 24 hours.
  2. If you try and use it too many times it will ask you for your pin.
  3. No not just Hunters Bar roundabout but I bet a fair few people would have liked to have driven up Ecclesall Rd! Imagine if there was a no cyclists on Penistone Rd day? There would be a right uproar!
  4. Closing Hunters Bar roundabout really doesn't help. Inconveniencing the majority for the minority!
  5. Really don't agree with closing major roads of for things like this! I personally like lots of other people, have no interest in cycling whatsoever so why should a huge chunk of that side of the city be closed off? Don't mind for once in a lifetime Tour De France or the like but a frivolous thing like this, really don't agree!
  6. January 2013! Also you can't do direct access until you're either 24 or you've taken a test on a 125 at 19 then you can take it at 21! http://www.90-one.com/testchange.html
  7. Not anymore! If you pass on a 125cc that's all you can ride until you do the test again on a bigger bike. You can't pass on a 125 then two years later (or whatever time it was) buy what you want anymore!
  8. Why should public sector workers get paid less? If you're doing a job you should get wages that are competitive with your private sector counterparts!
  9. Success is a personal thing, what one person sees as being success, another might think "what on earth is that person so happy about".
  10. I'll be extremely glad when it's gone and hope it never comes back in my lifetime....
  11. Would people want a 60 year old fire fighter coming to rescue you??
  12. These morons that smash houses up are 99% of the time on benefits because they aren't capable of doing a job and are a drain on the world! Utter scum should be put in already smashed up houses!
  13. At the end of the day, it's the governments responsibility to provide housing for people who are, shall we say, predisposed to this sort of behaviour. A private landlord has a choice! If he wants to stop letting to people on benefits, that's his call! If all landlords decided to stop renting to people on benefits so be it. I'm all for it being like it used to be, you knew which areas to avoid because all the nasty people lived in one area. Now people are spread out and forced to "integrate" which doesn't work. Instead of the one nasty family on the street behaving because there is 30 good families, the 30 good families all live in fear of the one family. Why not stick the scumbags together and leave the decent houses for decent people? Then private landlords have less chance of getting a bunch of numptys and everyone else doesn't have to put up with them!
  14. Yeah but doesn't change the fact you can't do it properly and make good money quickly!
  15. Also there are some good buy to let landlords out there that use it as a pension! Bide their time, keep the house in decent nick then plan to sell up in 20-30 years time. Only way to make quick money off a property is turn a dump at an auction into a good property and flog it or rent it out!
  16. Anyone who thinks buy to let is a get rich quick scheme wants their heads checking! Buy to let is for the long haul!
  17. Everyone uses Leader Rd to cut through from Dykes Hall to Middlewood Rd and they're not going to grit it anymore! Steep and might as well be a main rd! All it takes is some clown to come quick around the corner!!
  18. What kind of a market is that where most people can't afford to buy a house? Everybody on the average wage should be able to afford to buy a house! End of!
  19. Unfortunately I think he's sort of right! No one can deny property prices are ridiculous at the moment. They need to stagnate and sit for a while until wages catch up. Otherwise no one will be able to afford a house at all! If the average house price is higher than what the bank will lend to someone on the average wage then surely something is wrong!
  20. Again, the small matter of needing around 10k to get a mortgage! A lot of people can't get help with a deposit so need to save it up and have somewhere to live in the mean time! So yes would be better paying your own mortgage but the 10k deposit stops that from happening for a while! Thats why people rent! Also the government is on about stopping the help to buy! The fact of the matter is that the housing market is in a mess!! Prices are too high. Well above three times the average wage. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-27461692
  21. Definitely! Get the market moving for first time buyers again! Get more 5% mortgages out there like there used to be! One thing we don't want though is the 100% or even 110% mortgages rearing their ugly heads....
  22. True, we could probably save up in about a year or so. But i think the point I was trying to make is that if it takes us a year to save up, whats it going to take someone on 16k like your friend. 9 years your friend could potentially have had to deal with landlords and the sad fact is that for most people it is a similar sort of time. Therefore there needs to be protection and security for people that rent for this amount of time! I do stand corrected though saying I couldn't afford it was probably a little bit of an exaggeration!
