  1. I have lived in the area with my 2 kids for 3 years now & never had any problems. It isnt a bad area despite what most people believe based on false opinions.
  2. You can hire the hoops from wedding dress shops but they are not reasonably priced even for hire. I was advised in the past to buy off eBay & this was by a wedding dress shop sales woman as she admitted hiring was a rip off but on eBay you can get 1 quite cheap.
  3. If you ring the office direct to report this on 0114 2734567 advise your bin was not collected they will come the following day to empty it as long as you leave it out, I have had this a few times living on a junction. If there is a few houses missed they will most definitely come out the day after as long as you make them aware.
  4. Meat man usually doesn't go to job lot on a Sunday there has been rare occasions when they have been like around Christmas when they're busy, but usually they will only be there Thursday, Friday & Saturday.
  5. I would maybe speak with your midwife again & ask her to check what she told you. If you dont feel comfortable about that, either speak with your doctor who could get you referred for an earlier scan, or maybe call Jessops hospital direct & speak with them about your concerns.
  6. Asda sell Lincolnshire sausages on the chilled meat aisle around £1.70 for a pack of 8 or you can get 2 packs for £3 so 16 for £3. Not as cheap as Iceland but at least you'll get Lincolnshire sausages with more taste to them.
  7. Hillsborough arena just by the park does functions has option to do food for you, & has licensed bar, & allows children in if required.
  8. Kicks football sessions are available at the majority of the leisure centres Concord, Hillsborough, Ponds Forge, Graves, Stocksbridge & a couple of others. It's not a team but trains children from 5-13 years old. You can read information on the Sheffield International Venues website on each centre. I'm thinking about sending my 5 year old it could be good to gain/improve skills before joining a team.
  9. I have a 5 year old & 2 year old & can only hope when they get to a school leaving age that they have respect for their teachers & appreciate their hard work just like this boy has. In a time when not many people have a good image of 15/16 year old children it's nice to see there is hope for some to stay in school & try their best. Well done to Andy, this post has given you a life lesson about how decent human beings will praise you for your effort irrelevant of whether it is perfectly grammatical, it's the effort & thought that counts, but then you have also learned about those 'perfect' people in the world that have never made any mistakes in their lives & love to put others down for their mistakes. Good luck in your future after school & hold your head high knowing your a decent human being. :-D
  10. I was in this position 4 years ago with a 2 year old, we rented a house from a friend so didnt have tenancy contract or anything, house owner decided they wanted to sell, we were already bidding on houses with the council to get our own house, so after informing them we were being evicted we were declared homeless. We were concerned about being placed in flats or hostels with drugees & other people we didnt want our child near, but after expressing these concerns to someone at Howden House they were very reasonable & worked to get us a place in temporary accommodation on langsett road which was in the area we had been living. The flats were brilliant, furnished, secure & through south Yorkshire housing association so had an office with some lovely supportive staff. We were in their for 6 months, & whilst there we were still bidding on houses each week, we still had some choice as to where we could be rehoused but it was made clear we had to broaden our areas & actively bid on a number of houses each week. Once successful on a bid you are obliged to take that house but if you have bidded on it, you obviously didnt mind it. This part could have changed in 4 years, but I know how you feel its scary not knowing what's going to happen or when. I would speak with Howden house go in person & tell them how you feel & ask anything you are not sure about. If you are honest & get answers it will reassure you hopefully as what's to come wont feel as scary. Good luck & I hope you get sorted.
  11. So your really moaning because you dont know what time each day your post arrives?! Postmen try their hardest to get post out as quickly as possible, they are stuck to set routes & walks & on certain days have a huge amount of post to deliver. If you aren't satisfied with this then pay for the timed delivery, otherwise put up & shut up. Dont moan for the sake of moaning. Funny how moderators are supposed to stop deteriorating of topics, yet a moderator has detered off topic, but hey it's ok because your a moderator.
  12. You think it's fair for OAPs on a pension who are hit left, right & centre from this government & have worked & paid taxes all their lives, because they come from a time where this was how you supported your families, they should be charged for getting on the bus even though for years they've had passes. Maybe they should increase students who dont contribute to taxes, their fares to £1.20 & they can pay the extra 40p they want to take off pensioners who most probably fought for all the rights these students have.
  13. http://www.ultimatecoaches.co.uk or http://www.itsahummer.co.uk were companies I looked at when planning something recently. Both companies with good prices. Itsahummer are limos where as ultimatecoaches have a karaoke bus. I didnt end up booking as the event was cancelled but have kept a note of them both to use in future.
  14. 2 grand bonus?? Fact or just a stupid remark from someone who is clueless. Royal Mail are not a farce & aren't all accountable for 1 member of staff's errors. Yes it's an inconvenience for those involved but dont take it out on the good ones that are left having to put up with the abuse from clueless people like you puddinburner. Would love to see you try do their job for even one day, they deserve every penny they are paid & even if they were going to get a bonus it would be deserved also. They are not bankers or politicians though so any claim of them getting a 2 grand bonus is ridiculous, unless they're sharing that 2 grand between all of them.
  15. Do you even know how many thousands of employees Royal Mail employs, how many of them like their jobs, are good at it, and have never had any complaints against them. There are a very minor few that are not good at their jobs & they are dealt with when their employers are informed of their behaviour. That can only be done when you actually contact Royal Mail instead of slating them on a local internet forum stating untrue facts about what their employees receive and how apparently all their staff behave. For the record I do not work for Royal Mail but know people that do & for the crap they put up with from people like you demanding & expecting miracles of perfection they are absolutely brilliant at their jobs. The world is not perfect, things get lost, people make mistakes, but dont tar all employees of one organisation with the same brush from the mistake/attitude of one employee.
  16. Enterprise rent a car opposite meadowhall retail park are brilliant, have hired numerous times from them. It must be the staff that make it so good because we once hired from Enterprise on Rutland road & they gave us a car with a cracked windscreen knowing it had a crack, we ended up taking it to the meadowhall branch who swapped it for a different car & told us it should never have been given to us. The manager at the Rutland road branch is the biggest arse, but at meadowhall all staff are helpful & friendly. If you hire over a weekend at enterprise it's cheaper aswell
  17. As far as I was aware, from past experience of being homeless & being rehomed by SheffieldHomes, you have to take the first offer of accommodation that you are offered and if you do not then they wont help you any further. Surely if you are homeless you would take what you are offered. I do believe when they process you as a homeless person they ask you to clarify which areas you would like to live in & if you have attachments to any particular area, I would have thought you would have chosen an area close to your child's school. Also I do believe they dont randomly offer you anything, you still 'bid' on houses every week so it must have been a house & area you chose & bid on.
  18. Try to remain positive, if your mum isn't telling you anything it could be that she's embarrassed because she stopped your dad seeing you. Or maybe he didn't really know about you. I have a friend in a situation now where his ex has refused to let him see his kids, he has been threatened, so for the kids sake he has pulled back until the ex calms down or the kids get older & can find out the truth for themselves & not just listen to the twisted lies their mum will no doubt be telling them. Maybe try talk to older people in your family see if they can help you at all, or maybe friends of your mums. Or maybe a family member or friend could speak with your mum and see if she could be more reasonable. It's worth checking with the birth, death, marriages people aswell, it's possible your mum could have originally registered your dad on the birth certificate but at a later date went to 'uodate' the certificate & removed him. There would still be a record of the original certificate. Or maybe obtain a copy of your medical notes, your dad may have been listed as a next of kin or partner to your mum whilst she was pregnant with you. Good luck anyway hope you have success!!
  19. Would love for some of you that are complaining about your postman to try be a postman for a day. My bet is the majority would give up before leaving the office, then you would be waiting for your post. Too much time criticising the postman for things that are not their fault. Complaining about the time you get your post, but then complaining that sometimes you get next doors mail, if they weren't rushing to get your post to you to keep you happy maybe they would have less mistakes but it wouldn't be guaranteed as previously stated machines do the majority of sorting. Fact is over 99.9% of postman are good at what they do and are honest so appreciate the service you receive because other countries dont have it & are responsible for collecting their own post. Imagine the complaints and moaning if we had that.
  20. Thanks for your help beddoe79 & surfinjim I will ring those places & try to find out if they are suitable for me. Thanks
  21. Do you know what size room they have at the black bull? Should really have mentioned on the original post, there will be 175 invited & we know at least 100 will attend so the venue also needs to be big enough for over 100 people.
  22. Hi Can anybody help, I am trying to find a party venue for a 30th birthday party, ideally close to Shiregreen, Ecclesfield and Chapeltown area but will consider other areas. The party will be in June however I am looking to book now as I need a venue which will allow me to book on a Saturday night. I also have children that are going to be invited so kids will need to be allowed in the venue until closing. Any help would be appreciated.
