  1. Can anyone reccomend a decent pub which sells decent food between 2pm and 5pm during the week. Anywhere in or around town. Tried Bankers draft, Queens head ( but the times have now changed) and Riverside. Anyone got anywhere as good or better? Thanks in advance!
  2. Yeah mate, send me a personal message if you can.
  3. As the above says, anyone interested in starting a 70's style punk covers band? Mature average rhythm guitar player with backing vocals looking for drummer & bass for fun jams. Lead vocal would add to the mix. Clash, Pistols, Buzzcocks, ( early) Rats, Gen X etc. Not looking for big egos but easy going types.
  4. Counted approx 8 police cars including firearms officers because a woman phoned police due to her dog biting her arm. They even had the helicopter overhead, thought there's been a terrorist attack! I don't know the final outcome, but there must have been 15 or more police, two with rifles and full body armour, plus the chopper, when the dog was contained safely in it's garden. Unbelievable waste of resources.
  5. Quick question. Can I go down Granville road and left onto Queens road without going into the CAZ? The map is rubbish.
  6. You obviously didn't read my comment properly, did you? I'm not "moaning as if it was the whole park shut for the day" I never said any such thing. I am saying that as it is a public space, then the public should be entitled to enjoy the event, even if they have to make a financial contribution, rather than succumb to big business. Please do not misconstru my post.
  7. Noticed big tents being set up for a private festival with titles "Sumofest23" When I asked the security guard about it, he said it's for a private festival conducted by a corporate company. I think it's a bit rich when a bog public space can be used by private business, and the public aren't allowed to get involved.
  8. Easy cure. Block the holes, smoke them out at night when there's no one about. Get a team of rat killing dogs to kill them. Do it a couple of time a year.
  9. 6.70 if I remember right. 10.30 return
  10. We went out on Saturday night. Normal fare. Came home at midnight, 2.2 miles. Charged 1 and a half the price it took to get into town When I rang City cars, after being dropped off, they said time and half weekends, after 10pm, but this was never mentioned up front, either on the phone or in the car. It isn't the price I am questioning, which I am aware has gone up anyway; it's the price plus 50%. They only used to do this at Christmas time, and you were told when you ordered your cab. Don't have a clue what these "5days holidays" are to which you are referring. So to conclude, does anyone on here use City Cars, and can, and do they just charge fare and a half without warning?
  11. We ventured out last week, first time since lock down. We were shocked that the taxi home charged 1.5 times the fare getting into town. City cars said that they charge time and a half at weekends, but this was not mentioned on the phone. Is this correct, when did they start charging time and a half without warning?
  12. Be mindful that TPE are cancelling a lot of trains at short notice due to staff shortages, so build in extra travel time. This is happening almost daily.
  13. You got both guitarists, rythm and lead?
  14. More details, bands, age, location?
  15. I reckon its all over now. sell your gear, oh no one will buy it because Covid is the new n😪ormal
  16. Sounds a nice idea but I would say the timing isn't great considering. Any more details I'm sure people might be interested.
  17. Sharston in Wythenshawe is a good council area, great access for tram, motorway, airport and more affordable. Also just near there is Gatley which is a touch posher but also a touch dearer. Also has a train station into town
  18. Went to Tesco at Spital Hill today and went through the usual queuing system, trolley etc, and I noticed the security guard separate two Roma women, saying only one could go in at a time. I have been in there with my partner, and my partner has been in with her adult daughter, without any hindrance. When I got inside, I asked the security guy inside (different one) if the rules had changed, not telling him which rules or why, just to see what he would say. He confirmed that the rules had changed as of yesterday, that Tesco head office had decided that only one person can shop at a time from any family or household, nor can two friends shop together. As the lockdown seems to have been eased recently, ie I am now working again with a colleague and not on my own, using 2 metres social distancing etc, and more trains are running, why has Tesco suddenly INCREASED their lockdown rules? When I was in store, I noticed a young couple, trolley each doing everything they should, not endangering anyone; and a security guard went over and asked them to leave! Also, there were at least two of these security guards walking round checking people weren't together and speaking to each other via walkie talkie as in a football stadium or night club. Trust me it was very intimidating. Also I noticed Tesco staff themselves congregating within kissing distance of one another, two, three even four at a time. This is not unique, it goes on ALL the time. I have mentioned the latter situation before to their managers, and was simply rebuffed. Now before this comes across as telling tales, it is not as simple as that. I really, really cannot understand why they are making customers feel so frightened of breaking these rules, when their own staff are blatantly flouting them. My partner's adult daughter cannot shop alone, she has cerebral palsy although this is not obvious to see, but she cannot use both hands properly, and has anxiety and panic attacks when challenged. My partner takes her shopping once a fortnight, as her daughter has a baby and likes to get her own shopping, but now they are too frightened to go to this particular store. Is this rule for all Tescos, or just this particular branch? I have noticed that Morrisons at Catcliffe are not as bad even though they stick to government guidelines regarding social distancing, shopping there is a safe and more pleasant experience. Any Tesco workers please feel free to enlighten us. Mart.
  19. I think parking over someone's driveway is not on, and blocking them in is really not on. But to not allow someone to park on the road outside your house by putting up obstructions is almost as bad. If I had a drive way and someone blocked me in for any ridiculous length of time I think I'd just push the car away from the drive way. may need a few big lads to help though!
  20. That's because De Niro actually adopted Duvall as a kid, he was like a father to him. Duvall became De Niro's lawyer later in life, and De Niro became Brando as he got older...
  21. Has anyone tried paring on Glencoe Road recently? Due to builders' vans working on Park Hill flats, it has become a nightmare. Residents have taken to putting wheelie bins and traffic cones outside their houses to stop people parking ( I presume the builders) This means that anyone catching a train, visiting the local chemist or even friends, cannot park. I understand the frustration of the residents, but this has a knock on effect. What are the legalities to moving the cones/wheelie bins even planks, and just parking up? There are no yellow lines.
  22. Very sad if it's closed, used to have some good evenings in there.
