  1. My vote goes for Mintons. They did most of our house refurb, including carpets lino and floor tiles that look like wood. Very professional and efficient, and good prices. We even got some remnants to make mats.
  2. I'm considering a skirting board radiator. Has anyone got experiences (good and bad) on having these? / Recommendations/warning on installers? Thanks!
  3. Hello, I'm also hypothyroid - not yet on the magic TSH 10 figure, so GP refuses treatment. I feel awful, so I wonder if anyone has found a decent GP or else a private Dr willing to treat subclinical hypothyroidism? If I feel this bad now, I don't want to deteriorate so badly that I reach the threshold until the GP thinks it's worth to treat. Thanks!
  4. Hello, I know this is an old thread, but I wonder if anyone could tell me the name of the sympathetic GP in the Walkley Medical Centre to deal with thyroid conditions? I am subclinical hypothyroid -diagnosed by chance while abroad-, have previously been to GP about symptoms, which were dismissed with no further investigation. I've gone back with the foreign lab results and again the response was not great. I'd like to know what is the best GP in the clinic to see next time and fingers crossed they'll take me seriously. Thanks!
  5. I'm new-ish to Sheffield and still furnishing my first home. Can anyone recommend any good carboots where you can find old fashioned/antique furniture at affordable prices? -Any of them tomorrow? Thanks!
  6. Thank you! I shall give them a try. Cheers!
  7. Hi, I need to register with a dentist, hoping to find one that still takes NHS patients. I've read very mixed reviews about the Walkley practice, so I wonder if there are any more recent comments about it? It is the one nearest to me, but I'd be prepared to travel a bit for a good dentist, so any information gratefully received. Cheers!
  8. Hi, sorry about your loss. Just to add, anything that charities won't take you can offer on freecycle or gumtree.
  9. What market is that one, Sharrovian? I've been looking for jumbo eggs, but can't find them anywhere. Thanks!
  10. I'm with Bogg172. Keep us posted. One to one lessons would be good too, as I've a sewing machine I don't know how to use...
  11. MAC Plastering Yet another recommendation for Chris from MAC Plastering, who has just plastered the walls in our living room. A very professional approach from the very beginning, he always turned up on time, cleaned after himself and of course, did a magnificent job. Plus he is very friendly and gave us loads of advice. We'll be using him again soon. Many thanks again, Chris!
  12. Cheers all! The cellar is about 4m x 4m give or take. Like all cellars its a bit damp, but its pretty "dry" compared to similar cellars I've been in. I assume the old limewash has to be removed before the cellar paint can be used?
  13. In need of some sound advice :-) I am looking to use my cellar for storage, and as a rough and ready gym. The walls of the cellar are covered in old limewash that is flaking off and dusty in many places. I know that limewash is caustic, so I'm not sure that it would be a good idea to exercise in a room where the limewash is flaky and perhaps limewash dust is floating about? I'd be grateful for any suggestions for cheap and cheerful solutions. The cellar doesn't need to be comfortable, attractive, warm or dry (my last "gym" was a drafty old garage down the bottom of the garden) just safe. I don't know whether just slapping on another coat of limewash would do the trick? Quotes for the work welcome. Thanks all!
  14. Good luck, midgecat! I'm a cat lover, so completely sympathise. I hope someone can help you.
  15. Thanks all for your responses. We're moving from the south east, so we're getting local quotes as otherwise I think it would be awfully expensive! We are moving into Crookes, so I'm very wary of narrow and steep roads. Are luton vans or lorries ok in the area? Thanks!
