  1. The Fast Show was the perfect vehicle for Paul Whitehouse, supported by other very talented actors. I've not seen him do anything funny since apart from his very first Aviva advert 'GREEN ARMY'
  2. Funniest thing I've read on here for a long time
  3. Yep, I immediately thought it was the Lodge Lane that joins Lodge Moor to Rivelin. Suppose we all relate to the places that we know in the first instance
  4. Just having a total refurbishment. Due to re-open in the next week or two with Christine at the helm still.
  5. Lost my Sky signal a few times around midday-ish. Normally I'd expect to see some thick dark cloud to the south east but the skies were relatively bright. It stopped after about an hour so no idea what caused it. Glad it wasn't just me.
  6. Came out of goalkeeping retirement at 32 to play a one-off friendly game many years ago. Lasted until the 88th minute when I dived low to my right to gather a tame shot and felt an incredible pain in my lower back. I missed the ball completely and the ball went in ā€“ a goalkeeping howler for anyone watching. By the time Iā€™d shuffled and crawled my way back to the dressing room everyone had gone! Total agony driving home and I was off work for two weeks, topping up on painkillers whilst struggling to move. I still suffer with the occasional spasms now.
  7. Saw numerous examples whilst driving along Moss Way yesterday. Not seen anything on that scale around there before.
  8. I had a multicar policy with Admiral until July. Their quote for the next 12 months was a little cheaper than last year but I thought I'd just check to see what others would quote. I didn't expect it but Aviva near enough halved what Admiral wanted for an equivalent policy so I went with them. I'm not naĆÆve enough to think that it won't go up considerably next year so I'll be shopping around again.
  9. I checked that Wiki page about 45 mins ago and the goal counts were nothing even close to those now showing
  10. You failed the first rule of weather forecasting - always have a get-out clause. What you should have said is: "For those wanting to wash, tomorrow and Friday are going to be nice although there may be the odd light, or possibly heavy shower. There we are, done"
  11. I'm ex-forces (27 years worth) and the idea of being rewarded with a free TV license is not something that has ever crossed my mind Mind you I wouldn't say no Where would you draw the line? There must be many hundreds of thousands of people still alive who have spent time in the forces, from as little as a week to 40 years plus
  12. As the post you quoted is over 3 and a half years old and it has been the only post ever made by nathan1978 you may be waiting a long while
  13. Not sure as last time I actually bought a copy of the Star they still had the Ā£5 And Under section
  14. My breakfast ritual includes checking out the news & sport on my mobile. I usually then head to the Star's mobile page (not the app) in the wild hope that there may be something worth reading. Over the last few weeks a regular main article title has invited me to read about the current weather forecast for Derbyshire Another regular news item title is $article
  15. Went last night as a Fathers Day treat. Got a very warm welcome, friendly service throughout and excellent food It was a little odd though, being in there for the first time after the total refurb from the pub that I visited many times over 20 years
  16. Think the bit in bold should say M60 ? As Blue Day says but you could use Woodhead instead of Snake Pass or head out to Chapel en le Frith and pick up the A6 towards Stockport, really all depends on the time of day I suppose. If you want to avoid Runcorn bridge (extremely busy at peak times and I think there's still major roadworks around there) you can cut up the M6 from the M56 and pick up the M62 straight into Liverpool.
  17. Saw something about this new 'comedy' on The One Show and the clip they showed made it look at least a little interesting. Watched the whole 30 mins and didn't crack a smile once. Think my facial expression throughout was more like ' What the  '
  18. The Milestone at Crystal Peaks has live bands on so it could have been there. As you say the Mosborough Music Festival is next Saturday so likely there will be some similar posts to yours asking about loud music this time next week
  19. Remember someone highlighting that new road name signs had been put on Lodge Lane which links Redmires Rd in Lodge Moor to Manchester Rd in Rivelin. Only problem was that the S10 sign was at the bottom in S6 and the S6 sign was at the top in S10
  20. I'd quite happily stream if I had a decent broadband speed. The great fibre installations of a few years ago came nowhere near my house so I get around a 7 Mbps download speed. That would just about suffice if it was only me but with others in the house downloading & online gaming my internet connection gets a lot of hammer
  21. Signs have just gone up on our road telling us that we soon will not be able to park on the road between 7am & 7pm for 9 days due to pavement resurfacing. The pavements need it, we need it but the logistics of relocating probably around 20-30 cars is going to be interesting I live on a circular road that has one way in and out. The feeder road from the main road is not being done but has yellow lines along most of its narrow route. That leaves the main road which is busy, hasn't got much in the way of available parking and what there is, is already taken up by those living on it. That means going further afield and most likely upsetting another residential street by nicking their regular parking spots. So it's either leave the house at the crack of dawn and stay away until after 7pm or spend a while driving around looking for somewhere to park and risk the wrath of the local residents. Decisions decisions
  22. Didn't you read the previous posts? Or search the forum for oven cleaning? I've only used one of the companies recommended on this thread: Oven Revive And they did a very good job
  23. Good call - 17416. Not really surprising given that there's nothing much to play for apart from pride.
