  1. There are pilates classes on Monday evenings at the Joseph Stone centre on School Street. Beginners 6.45-7.45pm and intermediate 8-9pm. Contact number on leaflet I received is 07809 131792 - Sophie.
  2. My current commute to work can be measured in yards and takes seconds Previously I had a daily 140 mile round trip into the wilds of Lincolnshire which was often a pleasure in the summer but very demoralising in winter.
  3. HP, or Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) as they are called now after the split into two separate companies are not the "quite flexible" company they once were. All roles are in the process of being moved into Regional Delivery Centres (RDCs) in Erskine (Scotland), Newcastle and I think one down south somewhere. Sheffield, Nottingham, Derby and many other HPE locations days are numbered. Homeworkers who thought that this wouldn't affect them had the rug pulled out from under their feet when formally told in March that they soon would have to work in their nearest HPE office! On top of that there are nearly 800 redundancies at the end of this month with plenty more to come. Many have already gone before this current round.
  4. Wow Welcome back, it's not often someone re-appears like this
  5. I have started to get the same issue on a laptop I upgraded from Vista to Win7. Updates are set to notify me before downloading but when I hit the OK button to download nothing happens for hours. First time it happened I spent hours trawling the net to find out what was wrong but after leaving it all day it finally did its stuff. Now I'm wise to it I just leave it on overnight and the updates eventually download and install.
  6. Used to see flatbed trucks up and down our road most days looking for 'scrap', and the 2 or 3 white goods I've left at the side of the house have disappeared very quickly (one even had the audacity to knock on my door to ask if he could take it) Not seen much of them in the last year or so, might be something to do with the tightening up of the scrap metal selling rules?
  7. Don't hold your breath. MEC176 has only posted twice on this forum and his/her last activity was 3 years ago.
  8. I bought a 55 plate Renault Megane from Evans Halshaw in Jan 2008 so the car still had around 8 months left on the manufacturers warranty. They offered me a 2 year extended warranty which I accepted, however whilst checking the paperwork before signing it I noticed that the warranty started immediately so I was only getting a year and a few months for my money as it overlapped with manufacturers warranty. Realising they had been rumbled they changed it for me That extended warranty paid for itself at least 5 times over after various faults were repaired, especially one major electrical one that cost well over a grand
  9. I think you might have mis-typed 'shut'
  10. This is usually avoidable. The likes of EasyJet, Ryanair etc don't let you check-in online until 7 days before flying however they do offer you the opportunity to guarantee seats next to each other around 30 days before flying.....at a cost per seat! I've always managed to book seats together for free as long as I check-in as soon as possible at the 7 day point. The one time I left it until 3 or 4 days before was when we ended up at opposite ends of the aircraft.
  11. If I really have to go there on a weekend then I find it best to park in Crystal Peaks Retail Park near to Carphone Warehouse then use the covered walkway down to Peaks itself. Spent far too many hours of my life driving round and round looking for a space over the years!
  12. Highlight of my driving commute for so many years and they were so so funny, every one of them Don't think anyone but Sir Terry would have got away with that on national radio at that time in a morning. Times move on and I quite enjoy Chris Evans breakfast show as I did his Drivetime show before it. RIP Terry Wogan - probably the finest radio broadcaster we have ever seen (heard)
  13. There have been a fair number of accidents on this junction over the years. The layout was changed a couple of years ago in an attempt to make it safer however that will never protect us from "the cretinous morons here who drive about without bothering about their safety or anybody elses." Had to quote that Old Tup, it sums it up perfectly
  14. Derby dropping like a stone...again Makes Wednesday's job of climbing through the play-off places a little easier as each week goes by, especially if Brighton start to wobble again.
  15. Me and my dad were season ticket holders at Wednesday throughout the 70's but we often went to Bramall Lane when there was no home game. No social media in those days so the only rivalry I was really aware of was at school and that was very tame! Don't remember any 'pigs' taunts in those days either and I never really saw any intense rivalry at all apart from the rare Sheffield derby when a minority of knuckleheads and school kids clashed. Social media has taken the rivalry to a different level as we have seen at times on this very forum (which has thankfully calmed down considerably in recent times, which cannot be said for the Star's football articles comments sections). Where we used to have (mostly) friendly banter face to face down the pub we now have keyboard warriors who most likely wouldn't have the bottle to apply their style of banter in public So to answer your question, for me there is nothing wrong whatsoever in wanting both Sheffield teams to do well. I usually tune in for most of their TV games and don't feel aggrieved if they win (unless it's been against us)
  16. I think I must have been there on holiday every summer for at least 15 years running back in the 60's/70's. As a kid it was brilliant and holds many great memories of summers gone by. Miles of beach and a long way to the sea if the tide was out. Amusements at Coble Landing, boats, archery, putting green at the park on the north side. Exploring the Brig. It was dangerous then and still is now even though warnings and fences are prevalent.... and there's much less of it due to erosion. As others have said, it has a yesteryear feel but if you've got kids and the weather's good it can be a fantastic place
  17. There's a group on Facebook called Oughtibridge Paper Mill which appears very active despite the closure of the mill and has some great photos, both historical and fairly recent. I did a seven month contract there when it was Georgia Pacific, looking after the onsite IT. The papermaking side closed during that period (Sep 07-May 08).
  18. I think you can still walk all the way through, no new housing estate blocking the route as far as I know.
  19. That's very close to me in Mosborough so a trip up to Bridle Stile or The Brow may be in order to get a good view. I've seen elsewhere that it should be somewhere between 1500-1600 on Saturday afternoon.
  20. I've been to Fuerteventura a few times, latest being in November and the weather was fine for sunbathing. Have you tried the Tripadvisor Fuerteventura forum as this question is often asked?
  21. If you have the time and fancy some fun, at each step they tell you to do just say you've done it (without actually doing any of it). See how long you can keep it going. The more computer illiterate you manage to sound the more exasperated they get If you Google "Scamming the Scammers" there's loads of YouTube recordings of people doing this kind of stuff.
  22. Roughly how much do these Envirovent systems cost? Can't see anything about prices on that link.
  23. Every couple of days I find that I cannot connect my wireless devices to my broadband router. A reboot usually fixes the problem but only temporarily. Is my gadget fixable or should I get a new one?
  24. It's now a very good Indian restaurant (you may have missed that recent change to its history). I like Indian food. It's less than a 2 minute walk from my house. What's wrong with that being a Father's Day treat And the British Oak is very good too but that was my treat last year. Thanks for your comment anyway
