  1. I'm in S20. Moved from BT to Sky broadband unlimited about 10 years ago and went from around 1-2Mbs to 15Mbs (it was advertised as up to 20 Mbs). As the years went by this gradually decreased to around 7-8 Mbs so I recently took up a Sky offer for an 18 month free upgrade to fibre unlimited and I'm now getting around 37Mbs. It's going to cost me another £14 a month when the offer ends but right now I'm more than happy that I can finally stream stuff at the same time as my daughter without it dropping out all the time
  2. I was the last car (no cars behind me) through a very green temporary traffic light in a Lincolnshire village a few years ago. Unfortunately I was right behind a lorry that very very slowly did a left turn into a tight side street right in the middle of the roadworks. Needless to say I got verbals and hand gestures aplenty as I passed the queue of cars waiting at a now green light at the other end
  3. Came up our road a week or so ago... at 07.20 when the verges were still rammed with cars! We've now got short grass verges, long grass verges and half and half verges And there were grass cuttings left everywhere with no attempt to clear up
  4. I was also a little underwhelmed however it looks like it was only meant to be the halfway point and there maybe a second series. After reading a few articles on DigitalSpy it makes a bit more sense..... Requiem explained by creator
  5. Coisley Hill is a great example of this, in both directions. Two lanes going towards Sheffield Parkway which then change into one. Same going the other way. Rush hour in a morning and the left hand lane is queuing whereas the outside lane is often virtually clear. So many times I see vehicles (usually big vans) positioning themselves over two lanes to stop anyone 'queue jumping', as well as other vehicles making sure there's only a couple of inches between them and the car in front so no-one's getting in front of them! This also happens when both lanes are queuing back to the same place! Last time I checked the Highway Code, using any lane on a road was perfectly legitimate. Having merge in turn signs on this stretch would alleviate potential road rage however I've seen many discussions here on SF saying that this is not going to happen.
  6. One of the biggest potholes on that stretch got the 5 minute repair last week. Today it's worse than it was before. You're right in saying that it could cause serious damage and/or a serious accident, cars are swerving at the last minute into the oncoming carriageway such is the size of it!
  7. Not sure how they went about the order of sorting missed bin collections. First bins they wouldn't have collected would have been last Wednesdays, the first day of snow (and our black bin day) so you would think they'd start with those. They clearly didn't as even though they worked over the weekend and extra hours (according to their website) ours was only collected today. Didn't cause too much of an issue for us but surprising that it took so long.
  8. Paul Butlers barber shop was on Fulwood Rd, the second last shop on the left before you got to the Ranmoor Inn. Looks like it's still a hairdressers now and has knocked through into what was the last shop.
  9. Extract from the BBC webpage article: Having re-read this it looks like a description of his journey to the viewing point, which was possibly some way off from the Snake Pass.
  10. I remember being able to see the floodlights when they were on from the A57 Manchester Rd just before you entered Crosspool (near the old Bell Hagg pub). Of course they were at the top of tall pylons then so no idea whether you'd still be able to see them now. Don't recall ever being able to make out the ground in daylight though. And if you were heading to Hillsborough from the Snake Pass you'd turn off onto Rivelin Valley Rd towards Malin Bridge rather than go via Crosspool wouldn't you? Some artistic license being used here I reckon.
  11. Yep, it really is a thing Used to play pub league darts throughout the 80s & early 90s until it became more and more difficult to let go of the dart. Probably hard to relate to if you haven't experienced it but no matter how much I practiced (no pressure), and how much I told myself that it could only be in my head, I couldn't get back to the smooth, easy throwing motion that I'd taken for granted.
  12. The full list of flights affected was released by Ryanair about four hours ago and can be found at the link below. No flights to/from Fuerteventura are affected. https://www.ryanair.com/ie/en/useful-info/help-centre/travel-updates/flight-cancellations7
  13. No need for driving refresher courses, DVLA just need to send out a letter that explains what INDICATE means
  14. Try Spray-Tec in Halfway, did a great job for me a few months back http://www.spray-tecsheffield.co.uk
  15. Euro Dismantling Services (had to Google it)! Had me thinking too as I worked for EDS then HP then HPE before their never ending redundancies finally caught up with me a year or so ago. Looks like the incessant redundancy cycle continues since HPE Enterprise Services merged with CSC then became DXC Glad to be out of it
  16. Check out melthebell's post above and watch the Fulham's View video at around 6.30 mins. Fletcher does look offside, just.
  17. Used to be the best way to get through all the unread posts on the forum. Nowadays it's just as quick to work your way through each sub-forum individually. Strange that it's vanished though. The few other forums I frequent have this function and I use it often.
  18. Driving back from work this evening along Moss Way towards Mosborough. Car in front of me suddenly slams on his brakes just before the Beighton Rd junction and lets a car out. Then starts to make the right turn into Beighton Rd and puts his indicator on as an afterthought The word 'indicator' has totally lost it's meaning with far too many of today's drivers
  19. My old one was certainly of some use. Left it at the side of my house for a few days and as anticipated, it didn't take long to disappear on the back of a scrap mans truck
  20. There's a Jon Allcard on Facebook. School listed as King Edward VII and his public profile hints that he might be into photography. Googling his name gives a few other possible ways to contact him as well.
  21. Drove up through Manor Top the other night, turned down City Road so I could then turn left down Eastern Avenue. To my left I saw three kids on bikes hurtling down the pavement. I'm indicating, they're still going and two of them shoot straight across the junction as I prepare to turn. They never once checked it was safe to do so. I'm just starting to turn whilst keeping a good eye on the last one and true to form, he does just the same. Anticipating this, I brake, he survives. Lucky boy.
  22. Is this a forum record? Very nearly 8 years before anyone replied to the original post
  23. Wish all motor cyclists used your common sense, having lights on 24/7 surely lessens the risk for a motor cyclist. I don't believe that ALL "drivers don't look for bikes anyway", it's probably just those dumber ones out there that have been discussed earlier in this thread.
  24. Unless you want to feel special but without the VIP treatment then go ahead and book priority boarding. I've never used it and me, my family and my baggage has always taken off and landed at the same time as those that have. And I've spent a little less time in the cramped confines of the aircraft
