  1. I get my lenses from here as well - much cheaper and convenient - here is the link http://www.daysoftcontactlenses.com/
  2. The other day we got fish and chips from Two Steps sister shop - Green Steps. The batter was lovely and light, the veggie pie i got was delicious and the chips were yummy!
  3. Apologies for jumping in on this thread without having read much of it but we are a house of 4 adults and we only need our black bin emptying every 2 weeks because we recycle everything else. Never mind cost saving, the planet needs saving as well so please recycle more!
  4. I'm sure Oddbins is still there on London Road - its a massive one! I've only used it a couple of times but they are very friendly and helpful in there
  5. You might be better posting in the Sports and Activities section
  6. Moan moan moan - it was all over by midday!
  7. The crowds made a huge difference to the run and I was particularly grateful to the man who encouraged me to start running again after I walked for a little bit on Ecclesall road. Also, the lady handing out jelly tots at the bottom of town deserves a big thanks because I really needed a boost of energy by that point! Great day but a bit more entertainment and more crowds round Attercliffe, plus better organisation with the handing out of water would have made it even better
  8. Isn't it her sister Shami that you mean? Rita is the news reporter. Shami is the pain in the neck Director of Liberty
  9. Interesting...i went for an interview there but didn't get the job and after reading these comments, it seems like I had a lucky escape!
  10. I'm sure i saw a thread on here last month about a night service starting in Sheffield that links Leopold Square to Hunters Bar and beyond?
  11. That's fine but there is an empty unit opposite Bistrot Pierre that needs filling and they've still not finished the flats on Psalter Lane. What's the flipping point of building MORE apartments if there isn't anyone to live there and there are other buildings that need occupying?
  12. Thanks MobileB - that's just the type of advice i need
  13. I'd be interested to know what is happening with that and also the awful flats just further up the road on Psalter Lane that keep stopping and starting
  14. Also, if we were to employ someone, when writing up the contract of employment, is it possible to say that we can guarantee 20 hours a week and pay on an hourly rate when there might actually be more work than that? Can we also state that work will only be available for certain months of the year. Obviously with it being a gardening business, there are peaks and troughs with the amount of work, which is where my train of thought comes from...
  15. The people we employ as subcontractors are friends of ours so we are happy to pay them a bit more anyway and they understand that we are not in a financial position where we can afford to pay holidays etc. In the long run, we'd like to have enough money where we could afford to employ staff and pay them for holidays etc but we only set up recently and are still paying off the cost of setting up. My main concern is whether or not we might get ourselves in a pickle for having more than one subcontractor but it sounds like we should be ok.
  16. Hi - we do this already but because we need to take on another person, we're not sure that we can do have two self-employed people on the books and reckon we'd have to have one of them as an employee. Do you think that is right or do you think we could continue have self-employed staff?
  17. Hi - thanks for this although i don't understand much of what you are saying! What is COE - is it contract of employment? And how do you work out number of holidays if the hours are varied? I went on a business link course recently and found it quite useful although it didn't go into enough depth about taking on an employee. I've printed off a few things from their website so i'll make sure to read through them.
