  1. I think legally it is the term following their 5th birthday, and I am pretty sure that I read something that now says that children will be able to start full time schooling the september following their 4th birthday, thus getting rid of the typical january intake, but that will be parental choice. if you the parent feel that your child is not ready then you can defer till the jan intake I think

but at least its a step in the right direction with regard to intakes

    :)

  2. technically its indirect sex discrimination (i think, or direct sex discrimination, one of the 2) to base a refusal of a job if a lady is pregnant. however they are hardly going to say that I am not employing you because your pregnant, most likely they will give another reason and then you will have to prove its because of your pregnancy

i'd go with carly83 suggestion and get yourself to the job centre to see if your entitled to statuatory maternity pay or maternity allowance..

    good luck

  3. I wish that my consultant was Mr.Baxter, I saw him once and he proposed alternative treatment to what consultant number 1 suggested. needless to say it didnt go down well with consultant number 1, I shall not name names, but lets just say that both me and my baby girl are lucky to be alive. Consultant number 1 and his ego discharged me from hospital after a failed induction, which was against the standard procedure and even against what he said would happen a few weeks earlier!! even though there was decreased variability in the ctg's when my waters were broken a few days later there was grade 3 meconium and I ended up with an emergency section, plus more complications.

consultant number 1 wasn't Mr. Ghandi though :)

  4. you have to take the free hours over a minimum of 3 days.

so you can have 3x5 hours

    2x6 and a 1x3

    3x4 1x3

    5x3

etc etc etc, the problem being is finding a setting that will meet your requirements. its not just nurseries that can offer the funding, childminders can too.

  5. I have spaces for the summer holidays for 0+ children. I have posted my details on netmums, I am on asksid, childcare.co.uk etc etc

fully ofsted registered so that you can claim the childcare element of tax credits and I am very competitively priced (one of the cheapest in my area) while having an NVQ level 3, fully insured and providing loads of different activities for the children. I am in S14

    happy childcare hunting!!

  6. Hi

Depending on which day you needed I have space for the 3-4 year old 15 hour entitlement. I am in s14 which is on the route out from Sheffield to Chesterfield.

Again, depending on which day I can offer a full days and part days.

I was graded Good by Ofsted in March 2009 and have been caring for children in a childminding capacity for nearly 2 years. I have an NVQ level 3 in childcare, A-levels and very good G.C.S.E's. First aid certificate for babies and toddlers, food hygiene and safeguarding qualifications amongst others. I have a 2.5 year old little girl and I offer many different learning experiences. The children and I visit play groups, parks and libraries etc.

Feel free to drop me an email if you would like more information. You can use your free entitlement with me as I have received further training and completed the process called acreditation, that childminders can do so that I can provide the free entitlement

    :)

  7. Don't forget though ladies that...

YOU DON'T HAVE TO SEND YOUR CHILD TO A NURSERY TO GET THEIR FREE 15 HOURS!!

There are many providers that are able to offer it. Preschools and some Childminders can also offer the free 15 hours for some 2 year olds (As you have found out above) 3 and 4 year olds.

I too can offer the free 15 hour placements. I work with the parents to ensure they get the session they want. Good Luck sorting your place :)

  8. pure gym near mcdonalds :D where the old purple car place used to be. it has a new joining offer of 12.99 a month but its not finished yet.

its a chain and has gyms in manchester and leeds I think. I have not used so can not recommend but looked at it for DF

    good luck!

  9. Hi all

I am an Ofsted Registered Childminder in the S14 area of Sheffield. I was inspected by Ofsted last year and was graded Good in all areas. I have an NVQ level 3 in childcare and I have also become accredited to offer the free entitlement for 3 and 4 year olds. (Free 15 hours nursery places, you dont have to send your little ones to a nursery, you can choose a pre-school or a childminder).

The children and I do many different lovely things, we go to parks and farms, libraries and play centres along with toddler groups and shops. A real home from home environment. We cook, bake, garden and play whislt meeting the requirements for learning and development under the EYFS.

I have a vacancy for an under 5. Please feel free to get in touch via pm

  10. hiya can anybody tell me if there are any nurseries that allow you to use your vouchers when you like? ie 2days x 6hrs and 1 day x 3hrs

    thanks

    Hi

some childminders can also offer the funding and tend to be a bit more flexibile as to how you want to take it.

I offer the funded places myself and can do 2x6 hrs and 1x3 hrs or 3x5 hours

upto you depending on spaces I have availiable

    feel free to pm me

    Joy

  11. Hi Gardeners and Allotmenteerers (is that a word?!?!)

I am planning on having lots of different herbs to use as centre pieces at my wedding but would like some unusual things rather than the run of the mill stuff...

were having a bbq so herbs that can be used would be great!

    I have:

    mint

    chocolate mint

    lemon balm

which I have taken cuttings/shoots from and seem to be doing well but would like some others

need 12 different ones in total!

so do you have anything weird and unusual that it would be possible to get a cutting/split from?

    Thanks

  12. There are a number of childminders who will work unsociable hours, I know of at least 1 in the S14 area but do follow up the flexible working hours option. It is a legal obligation for employers to look at it and do anything they can, within the normal remint of the job, to help.

    Hi Zebra!

Hope that was me you were thinking of!

I do offer a flexible service, some days I end up working 8am till 10pm to accomodate different parents. However I am in the S14 area, which you may feel is too far from you, feel free to pm me if your stuck for someone for your little one.

    Joy

  13. have you thought about looking for ancredited childminder (an acredited minder means that they have completed or are completing and NVQ level 3, they recieved a Good Ofsted grading and have met high quality provision standards) An acredited childminder will be able to offer the nursery funding and because the ratio numbers will be lower than in the room that he is in at nursery his planning can be tailored towards his learning needs (and his apparent thirst for learning!)

Ask to meet with his Key worker at nursery, his planning and/next steps should be based uniquely on him. Ask them how they meet his individual needs and what activities they can provide that will challenge him.

    Feel free to PM me
