  1. Interestingly enough, I've lived in Bolton for most of my life without any trouble. I moved to Sheffield a number of years ago for University and had no-end of trouble. Was burgled on Ecclesall Road. I moved back to Bolton after Uni. I'm not saying Bolton's a nice place because if I did that would make me a hypocrite. I've often referred to it as the "spawn point for all chavs in South Yorkshire". But I'd rather not turn this into a trolling thread. It was a serious and sensible question
  2. Anyone know of any good bonfires going off tomorrow night around the Dearne Valley? I live in Bolton on Dearne and fancy going to one this year but don't particularly want to trek through to Sheffield to go to After Dark.
  3. This is such a shame. Frite Nite are, without shadow of a doubt, the best WMC act around. I live in Bolton-on-Dearne and make an effort to go and see them whenever they come out our way. I'm a huge fan of the Rocky Horror section. Though I would like to point out that, as a straight male, it has nothing to do with Lee in his get up.
  4. Just wondering if anyone knows what the weather's like at the beginning of October in Cuba? I have a friend who's thinking of going then but she's not sure what it's like.
  5. When I left my house on London Road at half 6 my back garden was rapidly filling up with water. I was a little worried that the water might get in through my back door but I had to leave Sheffield. Is it still raining on London Road and if not around when did it stop?
  6. I wouldn't say that. Personally, I think the 360 is a fantastic machine and is a much better alternative than a PS3. Especially as it's runs on tried and testing technologies, such as DirectX, so developers love to make games for it. As to your remark about it being a re-packaged PC, it isn't. The 360 runs on three PowerPC chips which are RISC based processors that the last generation of Macs used as well as the GameCube. The Cell processor that's in the PS3 is also a RISC based processor. The architecture is far different from the PC CISC processors. The thing is, the Wii wont be for everyone. Games for the Wii will mainly be party style and short play games. What you've also got to bare in mind is that you can get a 360 AND an Wii for cheaper than a PS3 will cost (check out www.wii60.com)
  7. Where did you read these reviews? I'm yet to hear anything negative about the Wii to this effect and I've read many reviews (I'm an avid gamer). My housemate has been using his since launch day and he's still loving it. Define proper console? And please don't say PS3. Sony's attempt at a next gen console is, quite frankly, laughable. I'm a game developer and know many people in the games industry and I can tell you first hand that developers are dropping from the PS3 like flies because it's so difficult to develop for. Plus, although it's technically more powerful than the 360, it has less video memory so actually getting anything better out of it is nigh on impossible. The only people who'll buy a PS3 are people with too much money who don't know anything better. The same kind of people that buy Need for Speed: Carbon. Marketing works too well. Also, £600? Go shove it, Sony!
  8. I've got one... but I'm not allowed to play on it until Christmas However, I managed to have a few goes when they were demoing it at Meadowhall and thoroughly enjoyed it.
  9. No, I believe I used the phrase "unvolutary suicide". I'm willing to bet there's a much higher fataility rate in the army than there is in the fire force. Plus, I happen to think that being in the fire/health/police force is much more beneficial to society than the armed forces. To some degree. I was an NCO (Flight Seargent) in the air cadets so I did have to spend a fair bit of time on RAF air bases.
  10. And here we have a prime example of right-wing mentality. Not that I'm saying it's wrong, we all have our opinions. In fact, I do quite feel like ripping off the testicles of rapists sometimes. But it's proves my earlier post that it's quite interesting how might right-wingers there are in a Labour run city.
  11. This, I agree with. It sounds like an excellent idea.
