  1. It is the Labour candidate that is only 27.
  2. I guess you are in the same constituency (national) as me, but a different ward (local)?
  3. Probably - Heeley has been nailed on for Labour for years, but perhaps that was down to the consistency of Meg Munn. Does a 27 year old have enough life experience to be an MP?
  4. As the postal ballot papers have arrived today I opened them after tea and was surprised to see Simon Clement Jones on both the local and national ballot papers. I wasn't quite sure how that worked - could he do both jobs (if he won)? Would he have to stand down as councillor and then we'd have another election, or would second place get it? I started to look around and even searched this forum to find out if anyone else knew and when I couldn't find anything I reset my forum password (having not been on the forum for a while) so I could post a question and see if anyone else knew. So I'm just waiting for the email to come through with my new password and the phone rings... IT WAS SIMON CLEMENT JONES??!?!? It isn't like I know the guy, or have ever had anything much to do with politics - this was a completely random phone call he made to a constituent as part of his canvassing... I'm normally the kind of guy that sits on the Labour/Lib Dem fence and can go either way on election day and I'm not superstitious either but this has to be some sort of a sign... To be fair I think he has a pretty good record locally and I don't really know anything about Louise Haigh - she seems a little inexperienced and she hasn't taken the time to phone me... Whilst I'm inclined to agree that the Lib Dems haven't had a great time of it in the last 5 years - we still need to make sure that we get a coalition so that Labour or the Cons don't run riot and I'd much rather the Lib Dems being the voice of reason than the SNP!!
  5. I've had two Fords over the past 2 years, both with built in DAB radio. I've noticed when driving around Sheffield there are various times when it goes silent and the message "station unavailable" appears on screen. I can accept that this might happen near the tram tracks as I'm sure there is some interference from the overhead cables. However I have also noticed drop outs in areas away from the tram tracks. For a while I put this down to blackspots etc. but recently became suspicious that this might have something to do with buses. At first it seemed coincidental, but more and more I have realised that whenever this happens there always seems to be a bus near by. Tonight I was sat parked outside the chip shop on Abbey Lane for around 10 minutes without any interference when all of a sudden (without moving) the station went off. It happened exactly as the 76 drove past on the other side of the road. So I was wondering if anyone else can corroborate my experience and if so, if anyone can explain why this might happen (and whether it should). I know it doesn't happen when going past every single bus, but I'm convinced it happens far to common for it to be a coincidence.
