  1. Does anyone have any recent recommendations for Sunday breakfast?

......love Jonty's but it doesn't open Sunday so looking for alternative. Ceres is fine but would like another option (tried Tamper recently and while coffee was excellent food was pretty average).

Preferably Sheffield City centre or S10/11 .

  2. Having just watched (on TV) the Nevada man with 10 stone testicles left to the mercy of his county's supposed healthcare system (he could't afford the treatment he needed outside his state, so had to go without), I have never been so appreciative of the British NHS. If that man had lived here with his dreadful condition, he would have had access to the best treatment in the country.

You would like to think so but would he? for certain?

  3. Yeah but they usually drop people off at hospital so they should be part of the emergency service which we could afford if it wasnt free

I think its nit picking what my points was that we should treat the ill and not people who had an accident while rock climbing or doing a wheelie on a motorbike at 70miles an hour.

treatment that leads to a criminal conviction like fighting should not be by the covered by the NHS

In short, the NHS should not cover personal injury or stupidness.

But persuits like rock climbing, or sailing, or cycling, or playing football are all forms of exercise which is actually good for you.

Would you pay for the treatment of the coach potatoe who stayed safely indoors watching Tv but had a heart attack?

  4. If you negatively impact someone's day or life you SHOULD suffer some consequences and more to the point be happy to. Because that's what good people do. It's called being accountable which is sadly lost on most of the people in this thread. Thankfully I don't have to live amongst you.

Well said (that the taxi driver was wrong after all as he negatively impacted on the OP and 3 others day).

  5. same thing happened to my work mate with his 6 year old son taxi driver wanted 50 quid and tried leaving them about half way from home. Cut the story short my mate walked away without paying and leaving the poor taxi driver face down at the road side , you should have done the same

Glad the OP had more respect than that - what your mate did was very wrong and shame on you for advocating it.

  6. It is incredibly late for a 2 year old, could have added to why they were sick in the first place.

I understand you are upset, but the taxi driver has a job and family to feed themselves. By being sick in the taxi, you take their car out of action for 2 hours, a massive loss in income.

Regarding not taking you home, the taxi driver had to consider whether the child would be sick again, adding to the time his cab would be out of action.

I'm sorry but what do you hope from this? What is the point in posting it here? You have made a complaint, and the company are following it up. There is no need to rant and rave on here.

Incredibly late? for a party? The children didn't have school next day - what the taxi driver did was disgraceful - what the OP did wasn't.

  7. Our grandaughter is well today thanks. We gave him the money because he wanted to take us to police station which is what they usually do when an adult is sick, both children were crying and upset, driver opened car boot told us to get the pram out, he was rude and nasty

I think you should have called his bluff and let him take you to the police - what would they have done arrested a two year old for being ill? A disgraceful way to behave.

  8. That sounds an awful experience - the taxi driver should have taken you home (especially as you seem to be quite content that the "sick fee" had to be paid).

    ---------- Post added 23-06-2013 at 18:19 ----------

The taxi driver would have had to clean and valet his car, losing about 2 hours work.

Is a sports club bar a suitable place for a 2 year old?

    2 sides to every story.

So taking a poorly child home is not warrented ? The taxi driver would still have to do the valeting.

It was a family birthday party - you not into them?

  9. I am the original queen of all things cakey wakey....but somehow I just never got why the cupcake thing got so big over here. I thought they were more style over substance. They looked good...but didnt taste so great. That creamy stuff on the top was far too sickly for my liking :gag:

Agree-only bought once and it would have been better used as an ornamental object that an item of food ; not pleasant tasting at all (all a bit emperors new clothes) but shame that what appeared to have been a Sheffield success no longer is.

Aren't you charging £3.50 per child for this? What does that cover if not the fruit and veg?

The market is good value for stuff like that & most fruit shops/supermarkets have offers on *something* each week.

I ' m with you on this Irene - £3.50 a child (so £35.00 for 10 kids ) and all they ate according to the OP was a lettuce (50p) some tomatoes (1.00) and a couple of peppers (1.50) between them - so 30 pence worth each and yet the OP complains the food is costly and wants it for free. Not sure the local veg shop , who incidentally offers excellent value for money, will be making as much of a mark up as she appears to be.

If this was a charity supporting local children then fare dues - but asking for freebies as a business so make more profit- and not alluding to that in the thread- is a but rich.

    Good offer though from HHGroup.

  11. I’ve been referred for an arthroscopy following a knee injury sustained playing football. As the procedure requires a general anaesthetic, I need to be booked in for a health assessment first. When I tried to book an appointment two weeks ago, I was told there were no appointments available and I would get a call when a slot became free. Doesn’t this contravene the basis NHS charter? Surely a patient is entitled to an appointment date, regardless of when it is?

The only literature I could find on the subject relates to the below.

    http://www.nhs.uk/choiceintheNHS/Rightsandpledges/Waitingtimes/Pages/Guide%20to%20waiting%20times.aspx

    Any thoughts and feedback appreciated.

My partner had a arthroscopy using local not general anesthetic - can you ask for that?

  12. Why not quote the whole paragraph?

"The other four are Lee Unwin, aged 26, of Nethergreen Road, Nethergreen; John McLachlan, aged 65, of Downham Road, Firth Park; Kareem Ahmed, aged 29, of Manor Park Centre, Manor; and Bashdar Hamadamin, aged 26, of Rock Street, Burngreave.

I agree that the scum who murdered the organist is English.

But that's the point, we have enough vermin of our own, we don't need to report more from the third world.

Didn't quote all as was illustrating that some of those in your quoted article sounded indigenous...........can you explain how you know any (or none , or most) of them are English? This one:

    John McLachlan

sounds a bit non English to me.

  13. I think that you'll find that most of the perpetrators of the three serious main crimes reported in today's Star are not from the indigenous Sheffield community.

Are we all feeling enriched now, and all ready for a big, multicultural hug?

    From the sex abuse case:

Amanda Spencer, aged 22, from Canklow Road, Rotherham, is charged with 41 offences all relating to the prostitution of victims who were aged between 12 and 20, between the years 2006 and 2010.

She appeared at Sheffield Magistrates’ Court yesterday along with five men.

One of the men cannot be identified for legal reasons.

The other four are Lee Unwin, aged 26, of Nethergreen Road, Nethergreen; John McLachlan, aged 65, of Downham Road, Firth Park

These sound like they may be indigenous. Not sure how you concluded from the reports you posted that the others weren't ? Is it simply based on names (like my presumption here) or other considerations?

    Is this guy indigenous? :

  14. Just been to Wagama and can honestly say the service is the. Slowest i have ever encountered. They do not seem to understand that a family expect to eat together. Some oc our group had finished their meals before the rest had even received theirs. A day spoilt by this restaurant atotal waste of time and money

I thought it was the norm at all Wagamamas for the food to be delivered at separate times - and every time I have been that has been explained to us.

I like Wagamama as a chain and usually hope my food isn't out as that way I get to eat it - if its first everyone digs in!

    "japanese restaurant + noodle bar

inspired by japanese noodle bars, our wagamama restaurants are known for fast, fresh food that is full of authentic asian ingredients. you can eat in – and enjoy our famously friendly service – or order your favourite wagamama dishes to take-out"

    http://www.wagamama.com/

It is fast - just each dish delivered as it is cooked.

  15. How do you know these Asians are not in cars especially as the letter cant be read

If they are then they would be snatching a child (thankfully unheard of in Sheffield despite regular threads like these) rather than using general method of grooming - which is via social media and aimed at vulnerable kids that are usually known to them.

You really do talk some twaddle..........good job the likes of you with your daft attitude are not in charge of our country!

Wheres the twaddle in that post? can't see it myself- talks about :

    - waiting for police advice

    - the over exaggeration of child abduction threats (where are these many cases?)

both sensible comments - so not sure where the daft attitude is.
