I was just about to start a similar thread. I want to start selling my handmade jewellery and accessories. Online for now but was wondering how to go about the tax side of things as it would only be a side job, as and when I could fit it in to my 'normal' job. Easels are good for when you're out and about and can't find something to rest on. Basically they allow the painter to keep their hands free and be supported. Not an absolute must. Mine's in the loft because I don't use it!

I think I may have to do the course next year when I have less work at university. I'll just hope and pray it's still running!

That explains why I couldn't find the course on the Leeds website. You can enrol online now for the Hillsborough course and I think you have to pay during the enrollment process. I'd also like the tutors name if possible thanks

Thank you for your reply! It sounds like it could be just what I'm looking for. I have experience with sewing machine but not pettern cutting, it's something I'd like to learn. I'm glad to hear it is an evening course. Thanks again. I will look into getting the tutors details

Have you tried eBay? The one in the picture looks like those decorations you stick on kids crocs. They sometimes sell them in shoes shops or sports shops. Hope this helps

Hi! I was just wondering if anyone has done the part time Millinery course at Hillsborough College? Or knows anything abot it? It's on their website but there's no start date yet and it doesn't say if its an evening course. If it is an evening course I'm hoping to do it alongside University as its an area I'm really interested in but don't have the knowledge to do it. Hope someone can help!

Hi everyone. I guess I'm just looking for some advice. I'm currently studying Art and Design at University but lately I'm finding it difficult to keep on top of the work load and I'm constantly falling behind. It's very frustrating and causing me to have panic attacks! Last year we had actual lessons and that was easier to follow and more interesting because I was learning new skills. Now we're given a brief and sent off. This is fine but I can't help feeling like I haven't learnt enough to be confident in my work and myself. I've spoken to my tutors but I'm still worried my current project won't be good enough. I failed the last project and I am now starting to worry that I won't pass the year. If I don't I might as well leave Uni because there's no way I'll graduate. I really enjoy creating jewellery, decorations, cards, all kinds of things. I love ceramics and metal work and my dream is to sell the things I make but I'm in a slump. I know my parents will be disappointed, I just can't help feeling lost I'm thinking of getting a full - time job (if possible :S) and just making bits and pieces to sell online I just don't know what to do anymore
