Film photography aint that expensive in the grand scheme of things, the money you spend on development - you save in gear. I love shooting digital and also film! I use both as much as each other as they each have their own perks. Enjoy your camera.

ISO, for me, is completely subjective. It's pointless trying to use complex rules, taking photographs should be intuitive.

Shoot what interests you, for me it's fashion, beauty and people. I didn't read any books, or get any tuition, I just figured it all out myself by never depending on auto. I write really simple blogs here's one about ISO http://www.katiesoze.com/understanding-iso/?bw

I personally SUCK at music photography. I just don't have the right gear/patience/ability for it. Although I can't do it myself I really love gigs and live music and totally appreciate those who can do great bands justice. Try shooting with a low aperture in natural light on a wooden or slate background.

Learn about framing and composition and exposure. I'd say they're the two main things you need to grasp before you become serious about photography.
