We are running a holiday club in the Shiregreen/Firth Park area for ages 7-13. This is a free week for anyone living in or around those areas. The holiday club will run from 20th - 24th August from 9am-3pm everyday. The club is free and refreshments will be provided, but children will need to bring a packed lunch. The holiday club will be focused around performing arts, with children taking part in dance, drama, singing and other arts and crafts. If they do the full week a qualification will also be awarded. We are starting a Hip-Hop dance crew for 6 years and upwards, every Wednesday 6:30 - 7:30. the kids will get training from Suzy Dyson, who is our Hip-Hop teacher and has extensive experience of teaching and choreographing for crews. Following over seven years of training in performing arts and over five years of working and continual development and training in the industry I have seen individuals and companies come and go, attempting to begin classes in specific areas and failing to either offer them at a reasonable rate or to recruit the children and young people in that particular area. I would like to focus this first newsletter on performing arts classes and how to find the right one for your child. It can be a daunting experience sending your child to a drama or dance class for the first time. There are many questions you might ask yourself. “Can I afford this expensive hobby for my child?” “Will the class develop my child’s confidence?” “How do I know the teacher is qualified to teach?” “Is the teacher CRB checked?” are just a few that might be running through your mind.
