  1. I think I first went in round the time of the last big solar eclipse - so 1999ish at latest give or take a year.
  2. Possibly the always friendly, helpful and great service On the Spot Tyres Address: 11 Langdale Rd, Sheffield S8 0UQ Phone: 0114 258 4146
  3. I'm not pulling your leg here, honestly. I have employed the ACME baby bath upside down propped up with a stick tied to a rope and trail of bird seed trick (copyright W.E Coyote) to successfully capture and return not one, but two lost racing pigeons in the past few years. The first time it worked was just the best feeling - like having a childhood dream come true.
  4. That was Hartley's Electronic music. Sadly Pete died a year or so back.
  5. Thanks for this information Andy. This is the first we have heard of this proposal and it is worrying for those of us who rely heavily on a subsidised route. I shall take part in the consultation.
  6. Went in Saturday early doors and thought exactly the same thing. I couldn't leave fast enough. Those wall tiles weren't the best idea IMO. The place seems much more claustrophobic now somehow, and I legged it up to the Greystones after a very quick pint. They have installed a large screen on the wall opposite the lounge bar, but from many angles about a third of this is obscured by long pendant lights, so a bit pointless. Also, the nice, round locals table has been replaced by, well, something I have trouble explaining to be quite honest; a sort of big squarey thing. The pub was in need of a refurb, but I think errors of judgement have been made. Don't get me started on the naff, folksy "isn't drinking great" type quotes written on the walls - the one by the late, great alcoholic Georgie Best being in particularly bad taste. I wish the new people well and every success, but I fear my visits will be few in future.
  7. I suspect that a lot of people got very wet at bus stops yesterday, as the petition to reverse the changes is currently growing at the rate of 10 new signatures a minute!!! Nothing like a bit of bad weather to unite people...
  8. Just like these hope valley complaints that their long distance bus is now also used like a city service in Sheffield slowing things down. When the 272 does go down the length of Eccy Rd it tends to get stopped at most points between the terminus and the centre - not just for people to get on /off, but for people to enquire where it's going to! "Do you go to town/station/bus station..?" You can't blame them because from my own experience it is faster to walk Prince of Wales to the centre than to wait for one of the 8*'s now, especially on a Sunday.
  9. But that includes the 272. During the day it has been renumbered 271 and scuttles up Brocco Bank.
  10. True in part. http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/world-news/coca-cola-really-invent-santas-red-4775218
  11. Get an old detergent/ garden sprayer. Fill with water and a healthy squirt of washing up liquid and spray over tyre and rims. Follow the bubbles..... Job done!
  12. It's very telling when you stroll down Division Street using Google Earth Street View. Which shops have people outside looking through the shop windows? Is it Yates? Starbucks? Gregg's for their cheap sausage rolls? The charity shop? Must be the sex shop surely? Check it out planners and reckon what it is we love about the area.
  13. Peugeot 205gti J335 OFC. Taken last week from the corner of Onslow Rd and Carrington Rd. Graphite Grey, no mudflaps or aerial. Sunroof but non-sliding type. Faded paint on the tail lift. Any info much appreciated. picture 1 picture 2
