  1. Oh my goodness! You're quite right! Well done for spotting that non-deliberate error! Derrrr!
  2. I work in Meadowhell and I've not heard anything about this yet. At Christmas we aren't allowed to park in the main car parks, which is fair enough, and I parked in the car park off Weedon St and walking to and from that wasn't a major problem. On the very late shifts I parked in the normal car park, as instructed by my manager for safety purposes, but kept changing whereabouts I left the car so as not to alert security. It's not such a big deal considering it is free as already mentioned. In addition to this, if you have a Blue badge then I think you will be fine :-)
  3. Definitely the parents because I've seen them with the kids and not even urge them to be polite and give up their seats. Unfortunately many parents can't be bothered to teach their kids manners these days.
  4. I had an individual from the Driving Standards Agency give me a load of gesticular abuse and flash his card at me. I was neither driving too fast or without due care and attention. I stopped and challenged him over it and he drove off....at speed! I was gobsmacked.
  5. I'm originally from Bowdon which is in Trafford (south-west). All the Altrincham area is very nice with the Metro link to the city making it convenient to commute into Manchester. It's not cheap though.
  6. It was awful today and as soon as I got there I wished we hadn't gone. My husband, after sitting waiting for a parking space for ages, had a slight altercation with a stupid woman who had run across the car park to save the space for her husband who was in their car at the other end! Totally and utterly gobsmacked! She refused to move as well and traffic built up behind my husband so he couldn't reverse anywhere either. Eventually he persuaded her husband, who had come up the car park and was blocking my husband from going anywhere else, to park in the empty space right next to him. Derr! Stupid, mindless individuals. First I've heard of saving spaces on foot!
  7. You need to lodge the complaint with the Practice Manager. You won't get an apology though as that will be seen as accepting responsibility and no way will they do that!!!
  8. I had no problems coming off it. I was on 60mg/day for ten years and after reading the report in The Telegraph regarding the heart risks I decided I wasn't taking it anymore. It made no difference anyway. I weaned myself off it over a 6 month period by dropping down to 40mg, then 20mg, then alternate days etc. and now I'm free of it. I feel no different. I had no side effects whatsoever.
  9. Yes, I realised that. It was very naive to expect anything else from them really.
  10. I was refused the service despite describing my emergency fully and accurately whilst writhing around and screaming in agony. I crawled into the Hallamshire and underwent emergency surgery for an irreducible incarcerated hernia later that day. Despite writing a letter of complaint to Yorkshire Ambulance Service I was informed that they had acted correctly on the information I had given them. All I wanted was an apology...
  11. This story just makes me feel so sad and I know that I would also have to intervene regardless of any consequence to myself. My son has SEN and has recently completed Independent Travel training from Bents Green School to town but I have had serious reservations about letting him travel further afield. He was picked on last summer by some little scumbags whilst on holiday but was lucky that he had some mainstream friends who stuck up for him. It didn't stop him running off and hiding in the sand dunes in the dark sobbing to himself. It was awful and I felt wretched as a mother that these despicable individuals could make him feel like this. In my opinion it is largely down to education and being taught respect for others and I do think that it's the parent's responsibility to ensure their offspring are taught this. I would be absolutely mortified if I thought that any of my children could behave in such a manner and they would have to be punished accordingly. Why haven't these hateful little individuals been barred from using the tram? I don't know what else to say to be honest as it beggars belief that the police refuse to intervene. Incidentally, they sent 4 squad cars round to the car park at the back of ours when we reported a couple having sex in their car at midday on a Sunday, but that's changing the subject! I hope you get it sorted out. I am really sorry this is happening to your dear son. I would also take up the kind offers from those who have said they will travel with him and keep an eye out for him. It doesn't have to resort to being vigilante in nature but a few words in these little scumbags' ears may make a difference. Good luck and let us know how you get on.
  12. It's a journey I do regularly as my family live 5 mins from Manchester Airport. The Woodhead was a total nightmare last Friday with massive tailbacks resulting from the roadworks. On Sunday I came back down the lanes past the airport via Pott Shrigley, Kettleshulme, Chapel-en-le-Frith, Winnats etc. in just under an hour and a half.
  13. I have just read through most of this thread and am quite dismayed by the apparently unforgiving attitudes of some people. These children have been taken, abducted, kidnapped. Their parents aren't the criminals. Ok, they left them unattended, but that doesn't make them criminals and you have to remember that they have to live with that decision for the rest of their lives. Their child has gone, because of one really bad decision. Does that mean they deserve that? Do they deserve all this pain? Of course they don't. I don't judge the McCanns or the Needhams because I haven't endured their pain. I hope that both families get the assistance they deserve from our pathetic government. Don't judge unless you are absolutely perfect yourself.
