  1. Morning all, We are thinking about putting an offer in on a house in Greenhill but for it to work for us we would want to carry out a loft conversion to add an extra bedroom. I'm therefore wondering if there is anyone who knows of a loft conversion company who would be happy to attend a second viewing with us to take a look at the loft and see if it would be possible, with a view to taking the work on once we had moved in. Has anyone taken someone to do a viewing for something sinilar or any tradespeople who'd do this? Thanks, Milly
  2. Thanks for your replies Guess I'll have to go back to the drawing board for the time being! The car meet is a good idea, I'll see if I can find any going on soon. Thanks
  3. Hi all, Sorry to hijack your group with a wedding request, I hope it is OK to post it here. We are trying to find a classic car (with driver) to take my new husband and I from our church service to our reception venue for our wedding. The church is in a small village in the peaks called Alstonefield (DE6 2FX) and the reception venue is about 10minutes away. The wedding is the 29th July so not long! If anybody thinks they might be able/willing to do this an has a suitable car please reply here or pm me, we will obviously sort out appropriate payment. Thanks Milly
  4. Hi all, I'm looking for some help in finding a wedding caterer for July 2017. We'd like a sit down meal with a main course of pie, mash and peas (not sure yet about starters or deserts) I've had a bit of a research but currently nothing is jumping out at me, does anyone have any recommendations for caterers that are reasonably priced (we are on a budget) but would still be happy to serve a sit down meal. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks Milly
  5. Thanks for all of the advice, I think I might try and use brick slips, that way they shouldn't be too heavy and I don't have to risk chopping back the plaster!
  6. Hi looking for advice from anyone who has experience exposing brick on a chimney breast. We have a mid terrace Victorian house and the chimney breast is plastered over in the bedroom we want to either try to take off the plaster to expose the original brick or possibly add new bricks up against it for the same effect if it will be easier. If we expose it ourselves is this a job that can be undertaken by someone with basic DIY skills (ourselves) and also would it generate excessive dust!? Or would I need to look for a bricklayer and any ideas of prices? Or has anyone built a brick wall up against a chimney breast and if so would this be an easier way of getting the same end result? The chimney breast is 275cm high, 136cm wide and 36cm deep. Apologies for the long post, Amy advice would be greatly appreciated Milly
  7. Thanks for all your replies they have been really helpful. I did think about a lurcher but I'm just not sure if I would be happy leaving it alone all day with sporadic meetings etc that come up. I would love to be able to have a dog walker but unfortunately the budget won't stretch that far. I have contacted 2 dog rehome kennels to see if they want foster carers over the summer holidays and the local one dog walking so I will see what they say. I also spoke to someone at support dogs who was very helpful and is sending a pack about fostering a training dog which sounds ideal (apart from having to give the pooch back ! ) Fingers crossed I can help in some way!
  8. Hi I am just looking for some advice really from anyone that can offer some wise words! I would absolutely love to get a dog but I work full time (I am a teacher) and my partner works full time so we are both out of the house all day. I have heard that some people offer dog sharing so that I could help look after a dog for someone who works evenings or weekends, does anyone have any experience with this? Obviously being a teacher I also have long holidays so would love to be able to help look after a dog during the day and take them for walks in the holidays. Is this something anyone would be interested in? I had a dog when I was younger so have experience but would only be interested in friendly dogs. I don't have any other pets and live in S7. Any help would be appreciated, thanks. Milly
  9. Hi, looking for a painter/ decorator to do some internal painting. Not looking for someone to do the work through this post I'd just like some advice from anyone who might know roughly what kind of price we would be looking at so we can decide if we are going to go ahead! It is for the hallway /landing including ceiling of a typical 3 bed sheffield terrace, (so up the first flight of stairs, whole landing and then up the next flight of stairs to the attic room) Also to paint the dining area. I appreciate I haven't given much detail but if anyone has any idea it would be much appreciated! Do painters charge per day or per room? Thanks
  10. Meant to say as well, it is that shop on the corner.
  11. Thanks Andrew, that would be great. I don't think it's looking too hopeful.
  12. Hi My partner and I bought a bed from the country pine shop in bakewell about a year ago, no problem and was delivered to our house. We decided to buy some bedside tables to match which was a good 6 months ago now, and we have still not received them. Unfortunately we paid up front and we can't get hold of him at all. The phone just rings out and we have phoned local shops which say that the shop looks empty. Has anyone had any problems with him as well and if so have you been able to get in touch? The guy who seemed to own the shop was called terry but went by tezzo. Obviously very worried that we have lost our money, any info would be greatly appreciated. Milly x
  13. Ok thanks I think I will get her done. The vets did ask if I wanted her done at the same time but I am going on holiday next week and I didn't want to leave her as they explained it was a more involved procedure.
  14. Two steps on sharrowvale rd has always been my favourite
  15. I took my *male* rabbit to vets4pets in milllhouses to get neutered as he has started being aggressive and I thought that it might help. After dropping him off I got a phone call from the vet and apparently my boy bunny is actually a girl! Have to say vets4pets were really good, he had already had his anaesthetic so they kept her for the day to make sure everyone was fine and when I went to get her they didn't even charge me anything. I thought I might have got hit with the anaesthetic cost. Now though I have no idea why she is aggressive. The vet suggested getting her spayed as said this might help. Has anyone experienced the same kind of problem and did it help? Thanks
