  1. Just wondering if anyone remembers an old pub out near Low Bradfield called, i think, The Haychatter? Remember going in about 15-16 years ago; talk about a time warp! I know its been closed a while now though. Pity. Not many 'real character' pubs left these days!
  2. Not sure if this is the best place for this topic, but hey! Thinking about stocking up before Christmas and wondered if anyone knew of any good supermarket beer/lager deals? (2 crates for £18/ 3 for £24 type of thing). Cheers!
  3. I had a look back and found the pics; they certainly ran dark blue cabs, although the pics are from well before my time! It was mentioned them being in Malin Bridge; i remember them on the corner of Park Road/Undercliffe Road (between Spoonhill Rd & Stannington Rd). If its the same firm, did they move from Malin Bridge then?
  4. Someone told me a couple of weeks back they'd heard the same on the local news - colder than last years. Best dust of the sledge ready for the trek to work!
  5. I remember growing up in the 80's and going with my best mate to a small yard near his house between Spoonhill Road and Stannington Road. The yard was perched between the houses on a corner; an odd place for a transport yard we thought. Remember seeing several dark blue "modern" trucks, ERFs i seem to recall, plus a couple of decent now "classic" trucks; Atkinsons (i think) tucked away and left to 'rest'. Spent many hours watching over the wall as the skilled drivers shifted these trucks around in the smallest of spaces. Can't recall the name of the firm though!
  6. It was THE best toyshop in the world! Got my first Scalextric set from there, and had the cars fixed there! I remember shelves and shelves of Matchbox & Corgi cars, buses and lorries. Still have most of them too! Then they closed! Zodiac was never the same, not even with the "funky rocket lift" in the middle. Shame.
