  1. And it's the SAME franchise owner that owns them all. I have tried actually approaching the heads of each company via e-mail but received no joy as of yet!
  2. Sigh! I'm suggesting that McDonalds tried, and failed for years to open a franchise, then some company placed signs saying they were opening a store called "Hey Potato" in the old Pizza Hut site. Then, all of a sudden it changes to a KFC. It's the fact that, to open food establishments, they're obviously having to apply for various licenses, how are these licenses being granted with NO planning applications/notifications (Yes, I'm sad enough to read these) being posted, and AFTER they open the amount of rubbish being created! They should really have bins or sponcer bins close by!
  3. When I used to post on here many years ago I saw a similar thread. Since then the problem has been made SO much worse by the addition of the turning lanes and traffic lights by the new Marks And Spencers. Now this is only a ROUGH Idea that I suggested, so please don't all jump down my throat! I suggested that with regard to the "Underground/Overground" then instead of digging expensive tunnels and/or constructing ugly skyways then why not use, in the case of Ecclesall Road, why not use the River Porter?! You could simply dig the river to a more expansive depth then run trains ON TOP of the river following the route right the way up to Hunters Bar, similar schemes could be run using other river routes with a hub by the train station. this would attract students and such like as well as people who live in Ecclesall. With regard to Ecclesall Road itself between certain hours (peak times) enforce a strict car-pool/bus only policy, this would also encourage parents to not take single children on trips but to have a sharing scheme. Just a few ideas
  4. Now I've lived most of my life just off Ecclesall road and, as a rule I've never had a massive problem with all the bars and take outs and the rubbish that comes from people using the establishments, indeed, I've seen some owners such as Harlequins actually cleaning up the mess left by students after a busy night. But lately, well lately the amount of trash from THREE main culprits is really starting to get me angry, those being K.F.C. TACO-BELL, BASKIN BOBBINS and COSTA COFFEE. The amount of litter all over Ecclesall Road from these stores is bordering on the ridiculous! I did some research and it appears that it's the SAME company that owns these stores! Now, those long time residents will no that McDonalds tried, and failed, for many years to open a store in Ecclesall. Well it appears that this company have managed to slide in with the stores they have, gentrifying the area even MORE! They originally took over the old Pizza Hut site by applying for a license to open a "Potato Store" but then opened KFC and a Baskin Bobbins (Or whatever it's called) surely this can't be allowed?! What can be done about the litter too?!
  5. Ok, people that own this franchise are the same people that own the KFC just further down the road. You may remember that they took over the old Pizza Hut plot by blagging whomever that they were opening a store called "Hey Potato" indeed, if you look at the unit next door to KFC you can see on the windows it still says as much. For years McDonalds have tried to open on Ecclesall Rd but have faced stiff challenges from local residents and businesses (myself included) seems these guys obviously know what palms to grease and all that! Congratulations on the further gentrification of Ecclesall Rd guys, add the fact MORE take away litter for US locals to put up with! With regard to pricing?! WAAAY more expensive than the U.S. stores!
  6. WOAH THERE! Ok Mr Dutch, are you honestly saying that these people deserve my respect? They are scum and it appears that you're just trying to get a rise outta me and other forum members! Is this how you get your kicks you sad deluded little man?!
  7. So there I am shortly before ten O'Clock this evening watching that coppers show on channel 4 when i started hearing thuds at my back doors, I went to investigate and some scum have shattered the glass in a brazen attempt to break in! Well they left there G-Star top and the scenes of crime officers told me that they're sure to get D.N.A. off the item. I'm posting this as a warning to ALL residents in the area as they told me that there has been a massive increase in attempted break-ins of this nature in this area in the past couple of months so please, make sure that your homes are secure as these "people" really are brazen at what they're willing to do now. Here's hoping the offenders have previous and they can get the D.N.A. off there top!
  8. No but Plug HAVE employed ex doorstaff though, as have Academy and several other venues!
  9. A common urban myth with young students in sheffield is that he was caught on Stalker lees rd that runs parallel with Eccy rd, i have great fun setting them straight!
  10. There were defo some lavs, in the early/mid 80's whilst caught short i broke my rule about using public toilets and found, bizarrely a sex pistols L.P. in there! Also i can imagine the toilets got a lot of action as it was a cottaging hot spot back in the day! I worked at the Lazer Quest in the late 80's early 90's and when we were depositing money at the bank over the rd in the night box the place was teeming with fellas!
  11. Are you serious? Either you are too lazy to do any research or you just want other people to do the hard work for you! There are LOADS of pictures on picture sheffield and there also exists old cine film on youtube driving from the bottom end of London rd (town end) Right the way up to the old abbydale picture house, looks like from the mid 1920's
