A friend of mine does a lot of off-road cycling:gag:, on a mountain bike type, and to be fair, he is really good at it, jumping off edges and riding over logs etc, and ive had a go, and its really good fun. Much safer than on the roads, and although its still dangerous, there is no chance of colliding with a vehicle or a pram. I dont oppose bikes completely, I just think there will never be a compromise when it comes to using them on the roads, especially as these days the roads are so busy. I was a bus driver too, for the old sypte, and back in the day it was a great job. But then people got nasty, singled out the driver to be an ogre, then bombarded him with threats and knives and verbal abuse. Not a great job, and would never do it again. Trucker now, and you dont get NO hassle from 26 tonnes of baked beans. Some folk just really make a fuss, when they should take responsibility for themselves, plan their journey and above all HAVE THE RIGHT FARE. Trouble is, in this crazy world, its always somebody elses fault.

A very, very silly post Halibutt. P999 has never stood on an tea-crate and condemned the west. He has never had links to terrorist training camps. This man is an absolute menace, and he should be shipped out, along with all his other fundamentalist cronies, and if he is tortured, then boo hoo for him. He makes a mockery of our country and yet it seems the courts wont allow him to go because he might be tortured or even worse. Even the Government want him out, knowing about the torture risk. Normal, sane human beings dont do what this animal did, and I for one couldnt give a toss what happens to him, as long as he is not here, brainwashing young men into hating the west as much as he does. You should hang your head in shame for even thinking of defending him, just like the courts should.

If some of these alleged victims have seen a publicist, then there is something seriously wrong. Bill Roach said it himself on a tv show that BOTH the accuser AND accused should not be named. I feel a bit sorry for him, as well as the woman who has complained, but crap has a habit of sticking, and even if he is cleared of this, the die has been cast.

Probably the content could have been designed to be a bit more relevant, but I think we are all missing the point that whatever the content is, the document should be completed, without all the hoo har that has come from it. We all know that the DWP has advisors/outsourced companies etc to do its dirty work, and however ridiculous it may be, its still a reasonable request to ask for it to be completed by people who are claiming benefits. God only knows when we will ever have decent people running our country, but until then, they can spend our tax money on whatever they like, including this questionnaire, but at the end of the day its just a simple request, and if a claimant feels he/she dosent have the time or dosent think it will do any good to complete it, then that is just plain wrong. The welfare state in the UK is just one big joke, and the sooner its reduced to be less than minimum wage, the better. There is no excuse for refusing any kind of work. If a foreign immigrant can pick strawberrys, then why the hell cant the 18 year old do it? Simple answer is he/she gets more on the dole. Well bring on the new benefit reductions in the new Universal Credit system, that will target this type of person, and FORCE them to take these mediocre jobs, because if they wanted to be a brain surgeon they should have listened at school. I suppose its a bit like someones employer asking them to attend a health and safety meeting or an appraisal or some other daft thing employers like to do these days. I think the point Wex is trying to make is that technically, the DWP is a claimants "employer" in a sense, and if they choose to ask the claimant to fill out a questionnaire, it seems only respectful to just fill it in. This does make me wonder if an employer asked a member of staff to fill one out, would the employee make such a fuss? It seems that its not working people who are tarnishing the unemployed.......but the unemployed who seem to have a big fat jumbo McCains chip on their shoulder whenever they are asked to do anything other than sign on.

Dont want to start WW3 on this subject, but why do certain sectors of the population that are "unemployed" feel the need to complain about changes to the system, when their ultimate goal should be getting "off" the welfare system bus, and joining the ranks of the working population? It seems the government (no matter if you agree with them or not) are hell bent on making the welfare system so unattractive, that people would better off taking a medial job than claiming the newly introduced "Universal Benefit". We have all seen the newspapers showing people with 20 kids getting £1000,s in benefits, and equally have seen genuine people struggling to cope, but at the end of the day, it seems the general idea is to get more people earning and spending to get the country back on some sort of even ground. I dont agree that that anyone should be better off on benefits than working, and the old chestnut of that there are only poorly paid jobs, so im better off on the dole etc has now been well and truly trodden on. Will this new system get the workshy off their bums, and into work, and help the truly needy? If the new system dosent buy the lager and placepots, I think it might just be a step in the right direction, and I hate the Tories!.the

May I just point out that Ikea is a faceless company, and whether or not SCC give the go ahead is up to SCC, however I feel that Ikea dont care if they come here or not. Either way, its a business decision for them. If its shelved, then they will just move on to the next town. Also may I also point out that your advice is about as welcome as a fart in an astronaut suit, and will be stored in my "I dont give a rats what you think" folder. Almost two thousand posts about a soddin furniture shop. I have been to Ikea once, and quite frankly cannot see what all the fuss is about. Its a shop. Thats it. A shop. It would be different if it were a hospital or a something that would really make a difference to Sheffield, but its not. Its a shop. OK, it may give a few Sheffielders a job, but only a few. Its a retail comglomorate who dosent give a rats turd about Sheffield, only just how much money it can make from its plastic TV stands and gnome-less patio sets. I always enjoy reading and taking part in daft discussions, but this one takes the biscuit. A sodding furniture shop that dosent bring that much money into Sheffield, but brings a hell of a lot in for Ikea.
