  1. Not much choice really is there. IMHO Forge Valley is shiny and new but TBH it's shockingly badly run and I fully expect it to get a good kicking by Ofsted if the behaviour doesn't improve.
  2. I shut my mind to it as long as things seem to be going ok but after every visit or contact I feel it's still a dreadful place. Unwelcoming, unpleasant atmosphere, negative blame culture. Torn between leaving her there and going through the upset of moving schools
  3. Yep, I'd go along with that. At Bradfield I counted twenty two sheepheads.
  4. In the last few months while out walking I've seen a few instances of animal remains dumped in various places Foxhill, Oughtibridge, Wadsley Common and the worst, near Bradfield. The latter was in a quarry which had obviously been used for the slaughtering of sheep with blood spattered over a large rock and hooves and heads scattered around.
  5. Happy to report the place is just as inept now as when it first opened. Communication is just appallingly bad. No one there ever knows whats going on, whether pupils are in class or even in the building. Surely Ofsted must be getting ready to turn the rock over
  6. Nibbles, Broomhill. Has rated highly in a couple of national polls. Personally, I like their 9" Vegetarian Special Pizza and their 9" Chef's Special Pizza best. Not expensive either
  7. Jeff, the owner was ill in December and I was told he would be off work for a couple of months. Don't know if the situation has changed but the same people who were covering for Jeff are still there. Taplin Road chippy has had its ups and downs but generally it's been one of the better ones in the area and until his illness Jeff maintained the same high standards he had in his previous chippy at Malin Bridge (which is about to re-open under new owners). Chip shops are very much a matter of personal taste but as for the Riverside being the best?! I don't think it's the worst but the quality is variable to say the least. The last time I ordered fish from there it was inedible- tough and tasting like cod liver oil. The bloke behind the counter couldn't tell me what kind of fish it was other than not cod or haddock. Did give me my money back though.
  8. Lots of over excited bobbies milling around outside meadowhall. Got a bit delayed getting in here- almost caused my shopping gland to overload cos it thought I wasn't going to get in at all. Anybody know what all the fuss is about?
  9. Ha ha! Mr Staniforth is related to me. He's now retired and lives in Harrogate
  10. I met a relative of hers in the Rawson Spring at Hillsborough, His name is Max Stringer and I think his wife is called Cath. Believe they live at Wisewood and I'm sure he's on facebook if that's any good to you.
  11. Exactly! Information that ALL parents should be GIVEN freely. Elitist and exclusive. Join our club and we'll see you alright, all sadly misplaced of course in a school starting to look seriously mediocre. I didn't hear of any serious, searching, to the point questions being asked at that meeting or any others.
  12. Know of two incidents where burglars are simply walking up the road trying front doors. Oughtibridge and Middlewood
  13. Communications have improved! Got an A4 envelope with about ten pages of information and forms that clearly should have been sent on the first day of term at the latest. Still, it's a recognition that the silent majority of parents exist. The overall attitude conveyed by the pack of information is still arrogance and inefficiency I'm afraid so despite the loud claims of "Inclusive" in the pack, that's not the message I get. F for effort Forge Valley
