Good to see Dempseys doing so much this year to support ! :-)

Gatecrasher is gone - iconic club stamped on by student flats... Watch out Niche ,iconic pioneering hip hop club in its day , you are probably next ... One of two tiny galleries... Some small number of artists studios not normally open to the public except 2 weekends a year ... Museum of Popular music .. now a student union ... Maybe there is one or two obscure recording studios and a digital art gallery , thats it ... no other galleries .. SIAC open 1-2 weekends a year to the public ... Why not give up and call it the Sheffield Students quarter instead ??

Oooh dear that is awful especially when you consider how much money the asian contingent make out of the late night gay bar scene, what with take aways AND taxis :-( Lets hope it was just a one off ....

What do people think of the shameful recent vile homophobic abuse from a well known fast chicken food place near OMG against its patrons ? Do the customers have to really put up with this and should they vote with their feet? Is it actually safe now to have a gay club near West Street ?? :-(

Ive always thought that the door men and ladies in there were courteous, professional and fine but I guess no matter how good they are , some bad apples still slip through the net. I had a particularly bad experience in there a few weeks ago with some "friendly customers" that I cannot and dont want to go into too much detail on here about, but its mainly concerning things that happened after I apparently left Dempseys in their company and nothing to do with the club itself - sadly again like the case above, these appear to be more bad apples that slipped through the net , I had never seen them in there before as regulars and I guess all clubs straight and gay get it to some point. Dempseys is no worse, and I would imagine in the case of a lot of clubs, better, due to the sheer number and professionalism of the bouncers in there :-/

If you are about in town this friday evening, as it will be the last friday of the month, there will be karaoke in the Roebuck Tavern . I may even make an appearance with my dog ;-)

I remember Gemma from ages back, but this one looked a bit more haggard looking but maybe it is that "blonde haired girl" again ! Certainly her forthright and pushy manner was the same as Gemmas !!

One dodgy looking girl walking around the Showroom Bar last night (why cant the staff chuck them out) with one crutch , presumably her foot had enough needle holes, and asking us , scuse me love can you buy me some food - I was expecting money for drugs - then my friend took pity on her and asked her if he could get her some chips if she is hungry as everything else in there is mega expensive food wise and she scowled and replied and whinged "ooooh no that wont do at all , I want fillet of steak duck la la orange!!" or some such posh thing - where in Gods name do these people feel they are so entitled to ask for these things when the rest of us law abiding and long suffering lot are slaving away in jobs with barely zero wage growth or zero hours" its down right sickening and disgusting !!

They are nibbling away at Graves Park like crazy ! Its only a matter of time before its all gone for development :-(

The Red Lion in Heeley/London Road is very good and has it on Saturday (Dangerous Dave) and Sunday (Pam the landlady) nights

Well I must swallow my words !... ---------- Post added 07-01-2016 at 23:55 ---------- I was back on a night I did not expect OMG to be open this week and it was the busiest bar that I was in all evening in these lean times ! I think this club has gained a lot of traction and has a good chance of surviving ,,, It must have learned from the bad mistakes of Twist ! Again delightful friendly staff and cheap drinks offers, decent music and busy !

Its a well known fact that SCC dont want any big successful businesses in Sheffield , they want to keep Sheffield uniquely "Sheffield" and thus poor for a city its size :-(

So .... after going along especially tonight , I find that OMG is shut with no warning ! Why register members and take their details if you havent even the courtesy to text them opening times over the weekend ... After tonights episode I have no option but to shun this place indefinitely since I dont know when it will be open or closed , does this ring a bell with another place, Twist / Fuel? That shut down suddenly as per above ? Not surprising , same behaviour :-( :rant: Dempseys may have its issues but for all that I know that whenever I turn up at its front door , it will be open at least !!
