  1. This looks more complicated than I thought and some of the instructions dont seem to have any relevance to what's being displayed so it will have to wait until tomorrow night because I'm up to my eyes with the most massive mess to sort out.
  2. Thanks Ann. Hopefully it will work. Thought I could rely on you for a response. Wendy
  3. I did some work on an important document last night which I saved, switched off this computer and packed up for the night. When I went to retrieve the file this morning I got the following message: "Word was unable to read this file it may be corrupt. Try one or more of the following: Open and repair the file (which I cant do) or open the file with the Text Recovery Converter. " What is the Text Recovery Converter and how do I use it? The file in question is extremely important. Gratefully Wendy
  4. I have just been advised by one of my card companies that they have a special offer on which will enable me to transfer other credit facilities to them and for a small one-off fee, the debt would attract 0% interest. As I am currently paying a similar amount on the other credit facilities with interest rates which are quite significantly less competitive, a good percentage of my monthly repayments are therefore going on repaying interest rather than the actual debt. I am typically extremely reluctant to consolidate debt because there is usually less scope for flexibility. In this case however there is 0% interest on the original credit and the transferred credit for the lifetime of the credit. Apart from the increased payments I will have to make on the consolidated debt are there any other disadvantages which I havent considered?
  5. Get them to send you an email to confirm the tickets are on their way with the reference numbers etc.
  6. I think you'll find there are a few places around Sharrowvale Road
  7. Thanks for the invite strix, I'm fully committed on Fridays/Saturdays. I think the most I could realistically do on Saturday would be to meet you guys at Hunters Bar for a leisurely stroll in my "Sunday best" from which you can take it that I've already done the "risk assessment" If I'm around, I otherwise have a fairly flexible diary unless I've got deadlines to meet. Another aspect of my "risk assessment" is that apart from excellent boots, I dont have suitable clobber and I've already checked the links thread for special offers which are more than I can afford for the foreseeable future.
  8. Hi Think I did that more than once, but I'll have another bash. Thanks.
  9. Someone's offered to buy my computer from me and I need to know the spec so that I can work out a reasonable price for it. By this I mean things that arent as immediately obvious such as the monitor, printer, keyboard and mouse. I also know that it's got a CD/RW drive, FD and a hard drive but dont know much else about it. When I went in to the Desktop, right-clicked and got Properties I'm afraid that it wasnt exactly informative either. Thanks
  10. So what was the outcome of their investigations or didnt they talk you through what they were doing whilst they were doing it?
  11. There should be some kind of unsubscribe thread somewhere. I also use Sheffield Freecycle but have never received a single email.
  12. There are obviously some very highly experienced walkers on this Forum which I'm sorry to say doesnt include me. I wonder whether they could somehow get together and compile a list of issues to consider if going on a walk/ramble/hike or whatever and for small or large groups. As strix points out there is no radio signal for mobile phones in the Edale area and it would be useful if some information could also be included on this issue. We could then post it as a sticky and would add feedback on possible amendments as and when required. Thanks :thumbsup; Wendy
  13. As regards the original debt of £8.99, it will cost them more in terms of recovery costs through the courts than to write it off. If you're worried about it or need to maintain good relations then pay up otherwise just remind them about being polite.
  14. All data must be kept for a reasonable time although what is deemed to be "reasonable" will be defined by circumstances. Manual records are subject to different rules than electronic data so a piece of paper can be stored in a suitable manual filing system (sounds like they dont have very good ones). It could also be quite difficult, if not impossible to retrieve that piece of paper under the Data Protection Act under certain data storage systems. So if the file is stored in a numerical, alphabetical or alpha-numeric system and not filed by reference the named person I suspect the document could not be retrieved under a Subject Access Request.
  15. It definitely needs styling that's for sure. Shaped around your face and keep the length at the back and sides. Suggest Creator; they do free modelling sessions and are excellent cutters.
  16. Ask one of your course tutors for advice about this and for a referral.
  17. I'd still be very careful about how you handled the entire situation because it could backfire and blow up in your face. Perhaps it may be wiser to ask your boss for his advice on how to deal with a situation that seems to be causing stress in the team. And just take it from there using low key terms etc.
  18. Personal safety and awareness, is as previously stated, an extremely valid concern and although I cant see any difficulty in going for a hike with men I would also feel a tad uncomfortable going for a day out with lots of men and being the only woman in the group. Another common sense thing in this mobile age would be to take at least one fully charged mobile.
  19. Forum Policy on Off-line Meetings We have been asked to make it very clear that any meet-up is not endorsed or officially organised by the forum. This is due to obvious legal issues if someone was to go missing, be injured, etc. The forum's opinion is that people should never meet each other via this or any other web site. In the event that people choose to ignore this advice, as already happens with the social drinking meet-ups, that is their concern and the consequences are their responsibility.
  20. Does anyone have any experience of this package who might be able to give me some advice on it? I need it for statistical data generated from a survey questionnaire intended to support quantitative analysis. It has 1 license owned outright c£900 + product training @ £595 in Woking Surrey and ONLY one person can use it with 10% discount to Not For Profits to organisations like mine. Sure I gave them some feedback and suggested they may like to rethink their pricing policy because M$ is infinitely more generous So I'd like to know if there are there any other comparable products and whether the exorbitant cost can be justified in which case how?
  21. How do I calculate the cost of my gas bill? The amount I've used is 201 units but they're charged by the Kilowatt Just managed to convert it into kilowatt hours but there seems to be another split and it's unclear how they've divided in between 2.492p/kwh and 4.412p/kwh The actual consumption which I'm trying to calculate the cost of is 2261.05704 kwh 1788kwh is charged at 2.492 per kwh 1226kwh is charged at 4.412 per kwh
  22. I've got a similar problem with a leg that needs screwing to a bedside table and I dont know what to do or how to go about fixing it having always relied on men to do this sort of stuff for me.
  23. T K Maxx usually has lamps and lightshades but not sure about stuff suspended from the ceiling. Atkinsons also has a real cheap place right at the end of the Moor down by Moorfoot which may have some suitable stuff. Otherwise there's always Argos.
  24. If you're going to use b4u.co.uk I suggest you let it do it's own thing rather than limit it to any specific place because in the first instance you will really want a very broad search which you can then narrow down. have another bash at getting your husband to talk about history just out of idle curiosity sort of thing to wheedle out some clues from him. You could say for example that you wonder what happened to xxx and xxx etc.
  25. An important factor in the landlord's decision not to take in DSS and which I do not think has yet been mentioned here is that these landlords are then found in receipt of rental income which they many not necessarily be declaring as was the case with many landlords I have previously dealt with. So effectively that makes it either tax evasion or avoidance which ever it is that is illegal - I always confuse these concepts
