I lived on Queen Mary Road Manor Estate 1955 to 1963 & could see the "burning tip" from there. We all called it the burning tip. It was just to the right of Manor Castle ruins that I could also see from our house. In fact I went & "played" with a friend a few times , on the burning tip. Really we were just poking any bit that smoked with a stick. The smell was of tarmac, tyres, oil , burning vegetables & of course this was how my mum & dad knew where I'd been as it clung to our clothes as evidence. Got into a bit of trouble for it. So direction wise: if you were stood with your back to Manor castle it would be at roughly S2 1WE that would be the northern edge of it and ran eastward from there a few hundred yards. It also ran towards Darnall but how far that way I don't know.

I was only there for the last year. But I remember a few names on the list. I escaped earlier than I should. Any scooter lads on the list ? Silver Blades lot or Bowling Alley. I knocked around with a few mods after leaving. Great days, great music.

There is currently no requirements for planning permission to errect radio or TV aerials on a house ( unless its a covenant in the deads ). However there is a requirement for planning permission for fixed antenna masts and towers if they are Free Standing structures. Its quite possible this petition is poorly worded or someone who started it has got something wrong in their understanding. Rules that may be separately applied by any landlord or council dwellings and the like not withstanding. CB and amateur radio are quite different. CB requires the use of commercial equipment that carries a type certification. The system as such must be plug and play. Amateur radio requires a licence which must be studied for and an exam taken. The licencee in then issued with an official callsign by ofcom. The licence is for the self training and experimentation and furthering of telecommunications technology. To be blunt, if it wasn't for radio amateurs you would not have had radar at the time it was most needed in WW2. You would not have had TV and now mobile phones or internet as all these technologies were pioneered FIRST by radio amateurs then taken commercial later. Radio amateurs are still doing this research BIG TIME. many CB operators become radio amateurs. Good on them

Sell it on ebay . I have sold many of my own cars on ebay and never had a problem . I buy them from ebay too as do other family members many many times. Its a bigger market with more buyers and covers all of the UK . They pay cash too and take it away and its gone in 7 days. If the cars honest and you are honest , you should have no problems. ( I am sure many wont agree with me and I am sure many have had problems but hey ho some people make their own problems by being silly ) Good luck
