  1. I started reading the first page of this thread from 2007 and saw Kito's in Woodseats mentioned. A good sign of a place that it's still going strong, we've always enjoyed it every time we've been in.
  2. That's really interesting to hear, we got married there a few years ago and were sad to see it close. Is it a bit strange being there when it's all deserted? Do you have access to the bar and restaurant areas?
  3. Can anyone recommend a handyman in the S8 area for a range of small-ish jobs, including fixing a gate, repointing an outside wall, putting up a washing line and an internal blind. I'm also looking for someone with a van who could take about 25 bags of rubble to the tip, to save multiple journies in a car. Please get in touch if you know anyone who would be interested in either of these.
  4. Didn't realise The Three Tuns was closed - do you know if it is just undergoing a revamp or a change of ownership?
  5. No disrespect intended, but it sounds like quite familiar with the places around the Crucible already. Depending on when you're planning to go, I'd expect a lot of places could be busy with theatre-goers or weekend shoppers. Crucible Corner (formerly Ruskins) would have been my suggestion if it's not too busy.
  6. Just been in the Budgens on Pinstone Street and they've got signs up saying it's closing down. Just checked this thread and it's not even 6 months since it opened, must be performing badly. They've started reducing a lot of their stock but at 25% off, it's now comparably priced with Tesco! :-/ Main reductions are crisps, confectionery, groceries etc - only a few reductions on alcohol.
  7. We visited for the first time yesterday, been meaning to try it for ages. You can definitely see the resemblance to the Brewkitchen menu, particularly the burger, fish and chips and rotisserie chicken. Good food, but then again, we always had good meals at The Beauchief.
  8. That's disappointing to hear, we've not tried it yet. I saw that a car crashed into the external wall at the front of the restaurant, I take it there was no damage to the actual building: http://www.thestar.co.uk/news/latest-man-arrested-for-dangerous-driving-after-sheffield-crash-1-8115665
  9. Not been in yet but I've heard they've done it up well, particularly the beer garden. Also heard the opening night was very busy - a 20 minute wait at the bar and ran out of beer by 8.30. Will go and try it when it's calmed down a bit.
  10. A bit later than originally planned but it has now re-opened as Rodeo Joe's. I've not tried it yet, has anyone been?
  11. Any idea what the retail unit next to the new Dunelm will be? No sign of Carpet Right, or anything else, opening there.
  12. Also Woodseats Festival: http://www.woodseatsfestival.org.uk/
  13. According to the waitress when we went last week, Swanky Franks is set to be re-branded as Rodeo Joe's and will launch on July 4th! Not heard any more about it and nothing on their Facebook page.
  14. Have they announced what it's going to be? Has it been bought by a chain? What kind of demographic are they targeting?
  15. Yes it's still standing but doesn't look like anyone's done anything with it, other than put security fences up around it. A real shame to see it stand empty. What happened to developing it into flats?
