  1. Has anyone got a cherry plum glut? I need lots to make cherry plum wine but our tree has hardly any this year. Ditto damsons. A bottle of wine in 6 months for a swap!
  2. Went there with the lads. The grub was so good I went back with my wife two nights later. Really good. Ten out of ten.
  3. I have a Hymer 544. Lovely old thing but just too big. I got it from my dad who has had it from new. I would think about swapping it for a smaller van if anyone is interested?
  4. I have just accidentally strimmed my wife's Medlar tree. Does anyone know where i can get a replacement?
  5. I have advertised for one on general wanted but it just got buried under loads of other posts so i am trying on here. Has anyone got a greenhouse for sale? I need one for my wifes birthday in 3 weeks! Any small one will do so long as its capable of a diy dismantle and rebuild. Please pm me! Thanks. John.
  6. Hello Gelfling and Sheffielder, I Have been going in the horse and jockey for a year or so and have found it to be a friendly relaxed place . So far as i can see the "local residents" use it happily with no problems atall. It is true that on wednesday nights "Bikers "Meet there but so what? I think you should call again and leave your prejudices behind. Its unfortunate that you may have called in on what must have been the only night for years that there has been any sort of trouble,(i wasnt there so i cant comment) I have never seen any hint of an unsavoury atmosphere. The horse and jockey is a good local pub that the residents of Wadsley can be proud of. I would urge you to Give it another go. Some of the biker types can look a bit off putting at first sight but without generalising too much the seem to be a good bunch.I recently saw one "heavy duty Biker type " covered in tatoos taking great delight in bouncing his grand daughter on his knee which cast him in a rather different light to that which would be gained at first sight! I have nothing but praise for the way the current landlady has cleaned the place up and once more created a friendly welcoming pub.
  7. Fancy staying on a farm for a while? The residential units at Whirlow Hall Farm are available to rent over the summer. Self catering. 14 beds (mainly bunks). Either overnight, weekends or weekdays. £100/night. Suitable for youth groups with a responsible adult, families (hall only) or groups of friends. No wild parties please. Call 0114 236 0096
  8. I have decided to avoid flying whenever possible to try and do my bit towards reducing pollution. Last summer we wanted to go by train to Brittany taking Pushbikes with us. after hours on the net i gave up and went by train to the west of Ireland instead. The Goverment are now talking about being more rigorous in enforcing the speed limit on the motorways. They say that this will save millions of tons of carbon dioxide emissions. Imagine how much pollution could be saved if we were not forced to use cars and could instead rely on a decent bus and train system. Roll on the elections so that I can vote Green,.
  9. Can anyone please suggest any good pub quizes on mondays?
