Since becoming permanently disabled myself I have met numerous other people that should qualify for DLA but have been turned down, in most cases because they filled their own forms in. The CAB recognises that the forms are set out to trip up claimants by asking the same question a number of times but in a slightly different context, this was pointed out to me by my CAB advisor. I can't emphasize enough, the importance of filling the forms in correctly and for the sake of an hours visit to the CAB it could make the difference between being accepted or rejected.

If you were actually taking 6 paracetamol at a time then you would have placed yourself in serious jeapordy if you had exceeded the maximum dose of 8 x 500mg per day and its not a nice way to die...........

I can agree with that, after 4 operations I have been told that I will have to 'deal' with the pain.... great !! The right drugs are essential or the pain takes over my life. needs must scenario....

The question that you should be asking is do the drugs that I am taking get me pain free ? I am not familiar with the pain that you are going through but the pain that I am experiencing is dibilitating and at worst has me crying, curled up in a ball.

WOW ! Ketamine ? and Sodium Valproate ? they are heavy heavy hitters Medusa, At the point of my worst pain I was prescribed methadone but it made me puke like a good un so the doc put me on oxy codone slow release which did help with the pain but put me in a place that I didnt like, if you know what I mean ? I am just waiting on an appt at the NGen pain clinic, have you any experience of this place ?

You have met me peaches and you know that my claim is just. Go and see your cab advisor and ask them if you should be eligible to claim. Many people are getting turned down by the 'system' because they allow pride to come before the facts. Make that appt. hunni

I have noticed that there has been a few threads on here of late concerning DLA claims. To those that are thinking of claiming because of genuine needs then take this small piece of advice. Do Not fill the forms in yourself...... Make an appointment at your local C.A.B. and get them to fill the form in for you. Failure to do so will lead to you being rejected for a real need.

Ibroprufen is not as effective as most of the adverts let on. It all depends on what pain you are suffering and where it is.. I have been through every pain killer from Paracetamol through to Morphine for my condition and after 14 months the doctor has found the right combination. Paracetamol, Napraxen (turbo Ibruprofen), Omeprazole (to stop the ulcers from the Napraxone), Pregabalin and Oxy Contin. See a gp yer daft sod if you are in pain...
