although i am back in my native city, I lived in another city for 4 years. it was ok with house mates e.t.c but to really get to know join local groups. there is a good local walking group (sounds crap but is really good, with good socials and walks in the peak district with pub stops!). the group is aimed at the 20 and 30 year olds. http://www.sheffieldwalkinggroup.org.uk have a look. salsa dancing classes on a tues at the forum is good also!

Outdoor club - hiking peak district

There is a young walking group: Sheffield 20s and 30s Walking Group. The website is http://www.sheffieldwalkinggroup.org.uk Its been going just over a year and has good walks and weekends away as well as socials. They have a monthly pub meet at the Devonshire Cat on the first tuesday of every month.
