  1. my girls went there in about 1963/4 Avril, Lise, Debbie and later Hayley Ball anyone know them they also went to Gresley Rd youth club when Joan Beardow worked there
  2. I posted on another thread about my grandsons treatment at the school he was at. He was one of 3 boys who were the only non muslim pupils,In R.I he refused to write Allah blessed be his name, first he was given detention,5times,then he was suspended until he consented to conform, he refused to do soand the school would not allow him back. Finally the education dept. said they would take my daughter to Court for his non attendence, and warned her that this summons carried the possibility of a prison sentence. she was refused home tutoring. the timing was bad because he was swatting for GCSE's
  3. Why not? parents are general public,, anyone can discuss anything on this thread ,if you don't agree with whats posted, try a different thread
  4. when I lived in Sheffield I used Whichcraft a lot also Pastimes,I also joined Create and Craft, there is an other sitebut unfortunately I can remember the name which has loads of stuff for 1 pence, loads of free downloads for card making as well, if you google Craft Shops, as I did, it is listed there
  5. Hi Birds,I paint on canvas but with Acrylics,I don't use an easel,I either prop it up on worktop in the kitchen using 4 bricks, 2 behind an2 in front or almost flat on the table with it slightly lifted at the top with a couple of thick books. At the moment I am painting a toy box,an old blanket chest from a junk shop, I applied a white base coat all over, then painted fairies, dragons, elves, unicorns, toadstools etc, there are faces in trees and things, the top sides and front panel are all connecting scenes. my grand daughter is thrilled with it and keeps finding new hidden creatures. If you haven't tried Acrylics give them a go,you can use them the same as oils, add water and use as watercolours,on any type of surfice
  6. of coutse never been there though, anymore?

  8. I'm an artist and at present am painting a toy chest with fairy characters, some one saw it and asked if I could make a "pirates chest". He is providing the chest but wants me to paint it to look old ,anyone any ideas?
  9. So sorry about your loss, so hard to cope with. I had a similar loss. I rescued a standard Yorkie when he was 18mths old, trained him to be my hearing dog,not that he neededmuch instruction. He was so fit even when he got to the ripe old age of 17yrs,all the kids loved him as he was mad on playing football,he never went on the road,he would walk around the block and come back, However one day a neighbbour ran to tell me he was sitting in the middle of the main road looking very dazed, the vet said it was a mini stroke,a single decker bus was coming along to the terminus by the time I had run to the edge, all five of us on the scene waved to the driver to stop so we could pick my Jaimie up. H saw us and the dog but just waved his hand in dismisal and drove into him. We all remonstrated with him but he swore he hadn't seen anything. the bus company told the same lies when we all contacted them,we got nowhere. Jaimie, despite his age was a fit, loving, clever companion, much loved by all who knew him,2yrs later I am still mourning him,he ,but should have died quietly in his sleep at home, with me holding him,not with a severed spine at the vets
  10. I have 2 little long haired Chihuahuas and hate leaving them, however I always put them in kennels near Bolsover, it like a 5 star hotel for them. I have tried others but am always dissapointed,my boys have an infrared heated room, a private run, sheepskin beds, and lots of love and cuddlles at these kennels, sorry can't remember name as my daughter always makes booking but will ask her and post on here if you are interested. It's only the same price as others I have tried, but so much better
  11. My brother and I were lucky enough to inherit a full oohornby trainset,an unkle had built it in our attic, it ran all the way round the walls,we added to it, I built all the scenery and my brother designed the route. when we were rehoused in the 50's oor mum chucked the whole lot out along with every Dinky car ever produce, just think what that lot would be worth now. we also trainspotted, hoever our best hobby was potholing ang caving. I loved drawing and painting, still do,at 73, raise lots of cash for charity now with my art work
  12. Actually, Roger had Parkinson;s,people often thought he was drunk when he wasn't because of his mumbling and unsteady walk. Not to say he didn't drink, he did, in copious quantities, when he was unable to get to an offlicence, he would phone his favourite taxi firm, get them to go and pick a bottle of whisky up for him
  13. Strange as it may seem, Norway was my comfort zone, went to live there when I was 17, going up the fjiord on the ship I suddenly felt a great sense of belonging and coming to my true home, I was so happy ther and in the fisrt 3mths, became fluent enough to knit from patterns in Norwegian, shop, rent a house etc, after 6mths, the Norse friend I made had almost forgotten I was English. Now Hull is my zone, must be near the sea
  14. sorry, Cavendish came after Penny, anyone remember Press Club on Carver Lane?
