  1. Don't the unions have to give so many days notice between calling a strike and actually going on strike. 7 days notice rings a bell but I could be wrong. So while a strike has not officially been called yet, I just don't understand all this panic buying.
  2. Moscow is a fantastic city but 2 words of advice. 1- It's expensive 2 - Don't forget you will need to apply for a visa to enter the country
  3. Heathrow has 2 runways split into 4 configurations which are 27R 27L 09R and 09L. Currently 1 runway is used for landings and one runway is used for take offs, if mixed mode was used both runways would be used for landings and take offs at the same time. When take offs from Heathrow are to the west, runways 27L & 27R will be used. Currently one of the 27's will be used for landings from first arrival until 3pm and the other will be used for take offs. At 3pm the runways swap. So the landing runway becomes the takeoff runway from 3pm until last departure and the take off runway becomes the landing runway. When take offs are to the east, due to the Cranford agreement, the northern runway, which is runway 09L can not be used for take offs. So runway 09L is used as the landing runways all day and 09R is used for take offs all day long. If mixed mode was introduced permanently then the Cranford agreement would need to be scrapped, although it was announced a couple of years ago that the agreement would at some point be coming to an end. I think I read somewhere that moving to mixed mode for landings and take offs it would increase capacity at Heathrow by about 150 flights a day.
  4. There are no holiday charter flights that arrive / depart from Heathrow Airport. Gatwick yes, LHR no. One way to instantly increase capacity at LHR would be to use mix mode landings on the 2 runways. Although lack of gate space could be an issue.
  5. £8 Vs £30 for the same product. I'll take the online store registered in the channel islands.
  6. Of course not, cyclist should not be riding 3 abreast and it is out of order for them to be cycling in such a manner. Sadly we live in a world of both idiot cyclist and motorist alike. For every idiot cyclist story, we could easily match it with a idiot motorist story.
  7. I can't see a cyclist wobbling into you. Let's not forget your meant to overtake leaving a safe distance between yourself and the group of cyclists. Just like you would or are supposed to do when overtaking another vehicle.
  8. Yes it would be your fault, just like if you overtook a car and missed timed it and clipped the car. Clearly if your unable to safely overtake a clump of cyclist, you shouldn't be on the road.
  9. Ok, look at it this way. A car producing C02 emissions of less than 100 g/km pays no " road tax " so using the same taxing bands for bikes as you would for vehicles, a bike would be exempt from been taxed anyway. In fact a vehicle registered from April 1st 2010 and producing less the 130g/km of C02 pays no road tax. Oddly you never hear rants as to why they are not taxed.
  10. And oddly there is no direct link that the money raised from VED and fuel duty all goes on the upkeep of our roads. If there was, clearly we need answers as to where the cash is been spent, when you look at the state of our roads.
  11. As I said no direct non stop flights to Berlin from Manchester until June 3rd, but plenty of 1 stop options available. Jet2 from Leeds Bradford from June 1st but that flight only runs 3 days a week. Otherwise it's getting a flight from the London area. If wanting to flying out on June 1st, I personally would go for the 1 stop flight from Manchester.
  12. There are currently no direct flights to Berlin from Manchester, although Easyjet and Lufthansa do start a service later in the summer, June 3rd i think. The airberlin Manchester / Newcastle - Berlin flights are a codeshare with BA, so you infact end up flying on a BA aircraft having to make a connection at Heathrow.
  13. The only way i see it getting violent is if the protesters decide to go down fighting should the get evicted. I get the feeling they would love to have images of themselves kicking and screaming and been dragged away by the scruff of the neck. If evicted, OSC could just walk away from the cathedral peacefully without any real police action taking place. I just can't see OSC doing that.
