I can't speak for all Blades fans but I've been saying that all summer and I think I said it in the Blades vs wednesday game thread, too. Just coming up from L1, of course your goal is to survive, i'd still take 4th bottom now. I'd be a little disappointed given the start we've had but if it means Championship football for another season, bring it on.

If their recruitment was anything like when Tesco Savile Street did their's, they had to widen the net as a lot of people from around that area were not suitable for any positions.

As much as I enjoyed the result I was nervous throughout, the Blades were head and shoulders above the wednesday players and we shook them with two early goals. Was surprised with the inclusion of Brooks but oh my, did he turn up. That result has been a long time coming, well done Blades. But we've achieved nothing yet, it's on to the tough Wolves game. I still say survival is our main goal and whether we finish above or below wednesday, as long as we stay up, I'll be happy. Not all Blades fans said there was little to no gap, I know the difference in quality between L1 and the Championship. Of course there is a gap, the Championship is now PL v2, with the money going around it's crazy and we can't compete with that. Boro spent 43m in the summer yet only just beat us, you need to find the right balance between spending money and finding good players from the lower leagues. At the moment we've done one of those... As I said in another forum... If we had the quality to keep the ball and then do something with it, we could be half decent. So until these things can be implemented I can see similar results to come. I'm sure Wilder and Knill know what's required, the big question is whether HRH and McCabe want to stay in this league. They cannot wait until January and then spend.

Sounded like we didn't put up a fight really. It was always going to be a tough game after they won their first two games but I expected us to at least give them a game. Some who went said it could have been 3 or 4 nil. Sounded like Billy was missing again, he'll get us goals but he won't produce like he did last season. I'm also concerned with the Stearman injury, hope it's not too bad. We have no final product, we get in and around the box then the ball goes backwards. RS kept going on about a penalty we should have had in the first half. I've not seen it but we really can't keep using excuses like that after a defeat. The bigger issue is that many of our heroes from last season aren't cut for the Championship. The North Barnsley game on Saturday is a big one, after their win against Forest, they'll be up for it, we need a result. Can't be getting bogged down in a relegation scrap already.

Boro far the better team as soon as they scored. Up to that point we were well in the game. Clark had a great chance to score and should have shot first time. We still lack pace and unless Wilder addresses this issue it'll be our downfall his season. Not impressed with Blackman, against Brentford he did well but his kicking was suspect but he seems to lack command.
