  1. I know you only need a licence for an auction. I have done tombolas/raffles before and no licence is needed as long as the prizes arent age restricted and over a certain value - but thanks for the concern. Think we will get in touch with the organisers first to check it's ok with them though. Cheers, Luke
  2. Hi All, Weather permitting me and mrs are wanting to do a carboot on Sunday 19th. Prob either the Hillsborough Arena or Norton - which one do you consider to be better? Also, we are just wanting to clear out as we're moving house - so we are thinking of sticking a raffle ticket to everything and doing it like a tombola. Is this something that is allowed at a car boot and do you think it'd be a success?? Was thinking 3 tickets for a £1. Look forward to hearing your thoughts, Luke
  3. Hi all, We're looking to do our last car boot for the year and have some quality items to sell, as well as some not so quality ones lol. Thinking about going to pacers at high green this sunday (2nd October), but have never been before. Has anyone else been? Would love to know if it's any good or any other suggestions of other car boots this Sunday. Need to go out with a bang! Luke
  4. I agree, they've definitly not realised the knock-on effect, considering they failed at the Motorpoint arena but have not learned any lessons and adopted exactly the same strategy in a different car park. In fact, probably a worse car park considering how good the one in Hillsborough arena (just next door basically) appears to be. I think I'm definitly going to try the one at Hillsborough arena this coming Sunday because of what I've heard on here. Although I do prefer to go to the car boots that are kind of one offs. ----Can anyone tell me if Hillsborough arena is actually Hillsborough park? Do you just enter through the car park at the side of the Wednesday ground?
  5. I got handed a flyer for the Owlerton car boot on a night out in town the Friday before, which seemed quite strange. Totally expected it to be rubbish as it sounded like it was run by the same people who intended to do the ones at the Motorpoint. We attempted to do our first car boot at the Motorpoint - got there at 5:50, sat in a queue with others til 6:15, then news filtered out that it had been cancelled. Luckily we had enough time to get back home onto the laptop and find another car boot at Loxley (which was really good!). We were really annoyed though, as we had gone to look around the Motorpoint one the previous week, informed the stewards we were planning on coming the next week and they obviously had no idea it was going to be cancelled.
  6. Hi - I've just joined up to the forum. Checked this thread out before when looking to do our first car boot a month or two ago. Ended up at Loxley and it was a really beautiful day and good fun - only down side is that my arms were as red as tomatoes after forgetting the sun cream :-S We are hoping to do another car boot this coming Sunday (31st July), but don't know what's on - so any suggestions on where's good to go would be really appreciated. We're moving house and need to get rid of a lot of stuff.
