  1. In certain parts of Manor Park, you can get quite a good view of North Eastern Sheffield. But which area exactly is it in the far distance? Is it Keppel's Column I can see or maybe even something further afield? It always amazes me just how far you can see from high places. In this picture from the top of Hoober Stand in Wentworth, you can see four chimneys on the horizon. Believe it or not they are in Knottingley on the other side of Pontefract. Any other good views in Sheffield?
  2. A nice Nigerian man who emailed me said he could set one up for $300. I sent him the money but haven't heard anything back....
  3. So they are going for convenience. In that case you may want to improve your delivery service, looks a bit rubbish compared to some of your rivals to be honest. Especially when some of them deliver for free on orders over £xx. The timing of the delivery is pretty unspecific and that is not convenient is it? People may end up paying more for a bed and not spend that much more overall because of the free delivery, plus they can go into the store to pick one out and try it. It will be more convenient too because they can book a specific delivery time. I am not having a go at you, just pointing out how customers will probably think about it.
  4. Well you surprised me! Thought people would want to see something like a bed in person. Who did you survey, any particular group?
  5. So have you done market research to see whether people will want to view an item like a bed or a mattress before buying?
  6. Ah I see. So what will you do if a customer asks to see one of your beds before deciding to buy?
  7. Just a minor detail. At the bottom of your front page you have contact details. If it were me I would replace the mobile number with your landline one, and maybe include the address too. Just makes it seem a bit more trustworthy, if you see what I mean? How are you going to get around customers wanting to see the product and sit on it / test it out before buying? They are going to use it every night so need to be sure it is comfortable. Do you have a store they can drop into or not?
  8. Exactly right, anyone old fool can come along and offer a lower price. What you should be doing is convincing them WHY they should still come to you for the higher price, better service or whatever.
  9. You are not Mark Zuckerberg are you? My reply somewhere above said that facebook can be very useful in the right circumstances! What is your opinion of google+ by the way?
  10. I don't disagree that the internet is a powerful selling tool when used correctly. But people go crazy about SEO, as if just by getting people onto their site they are going to make money. That is only the first part of it. When people go on a site and they are simply confronted with paragraphs of text littered with the same two or three keywords they are not going to take it seriously. I bet you have all seen that somewhere! My prediction is that people will soon catch on and start ignoring the first few results in the same way they ignore spam email. For the same money and amount of time spent there could have been other much more useful methods of promoting a business.
  11. Well it was a good definition of market research. But that is only one part of the process. You woudn't call an egg a cake would you?
  12. Haha I see. I am more into Carlinology than Hicksianism. By the way, take a look on Bill Hicks' website and see how much stuff they are trying to flog with his name on it.
  13. I don't know of anywhere, sorry. http://www.sheffieldforum.co.uk/showthread.php?t=472605
  14. I assumed you were talking about this? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hicksian_demand_function The mathematical part makes no sense at all to me I'm afraid.
