  1. I remember when we moved into our house, it had been owned by an old couple. I was told that the fella was housebound and a pipe smoker and all the ceilings were stained yellow from years of tobacco smoke. Do you remember them?
  2. Lol, we lived at 32 !! You must have been there when we moved in then? I'm trying to think back to who lived there before Jennifer. It's all a bit hazy!!
  3. Ha ha, you know me, the shy retiring one at the back . I'm happy to rediscover it with everyone else.
  4. I might show my face for this one, if you don't mind me joining you again. I love Roche Abbey.
  5. madowl, I was looking at the pic of Chaucer School football team from '83. I recognise a few faces on the back row, they were a couple of years younger than me in my brother's year. I lived on Winster Road from about 1980 onwards. I've had a really nice evening reading through all the memories on here. Even the ones that are before I was born are great to read - strange when you see posts from people who lived on the street you were brought up on but years before, maybe even the same house. Never knew there used to be a stable on Winster Road!! The corner next to the B&B was a tool shop when we were kids. My brother used to drag me there to stand looking in the window at all the treasures. I vividly remember them putting a sign outside that said "shovels for sale due to lack of weather" and it appearing in the paper the next week. I was so proud, you'd have thought it was my sign!!
  6. If you look on their announcements page here it tells you: - ***Slowness in Search Results*** November 21, 2009 | 11:17AM PST/PT We are experiencing some issues with a delay in search being displayed. We apologize for any inconvenience this may be causing. We are working to get this resolved as quickly as possible. Regards, eBay
  7. I completely understand how you feel - you've been through a horrible time and this is probably the last thing you need. But I really don't think the RSPCA can legally take the rabbit out of your house unless it is already the subject of provable cruelty or neglect. Telling them it is going to be neglected is not something they can act upon. Do you know any of his friends that you get on with who would be willing to ask him for the rabbit?
  8. I'm with Ginger Daddy on this one - I think he's paid enough with the public humiliation and hatred. What will any further punishment prove?
  9. A big thank you to everyone who helped and offered help and to the RSPCA who brought the story to its happy ending.
  10. Great news - took Chloe to the RSPCA this morning to get a vaccination and they had a look through lost and found. Long and short of it is they found her owners!!! They only live a few streets away from me and haven't seen her since September. Her actual name is Misty and it sounds as though she is going to be thoroughly spoiled for a long while. They had her microchipped before they left and apparently tears were shed as they had given up on seeing her again. I'm so relieved and it's great to have a happy ending!
  11. Hi Sez, please don't feel bad, I get myself into these pickles I let her go out today as I just couldn't deal with the upset the other cats were getting themselves into - who'd have thought that one cat could cause all this trouble! I've spent the rest of the day worrying about her - and she's just this minute come back! That means that hopefully I can just keep her in over each night if necessary until the RSPCA find her a space. I just hope it isn't too long as I'm back to work next week so won't be able to spend all this time messing about with her. Obviously it would be much easier if I could find her a proper foster home, but I know you have a full house already so it would be just as difficult for you as it is for me. So if anyone else out there is reading this and can lend a helping hand it would be really appreciated.
  12. Well if you think they would be make a good pair, I am happy to send you a message when Thomas is due to go up for adoption. I would think it will be a couple of months from now. And you are more than welcome to bring your friend to meet him in the meantime, as long as it won't upset her if things didn't work out with adopting him. One broken heart is more than enough in this story
  13. thanks Seadog - I just looked through his/her post quickly and it looks as though she has the cat back she was looking for. I'm in a bit of a quandry at the moment as I've had to put her in my kitchen while Thomas is in the front room. Now my cats are getting upset, with Fudge having a bit of an accident on the stairs last night. They are used to having other cats around but not used to being shut out of so many rooms. I feel like I'm living in a prison as I can't get from room to room without planning for escapees. Chloe is crying and crying to go out, and I'm really tempted to let her go. I'm hoping she will come back when she gets hungry. It just seems such a shame that I have her here safe and there is nowhere to keep her.
  14. That sounds ideal. Unfortunately I have no say over who adopts the cats as they are the charges of the RSPCA and they would make that decision. Wouldn't hurt to contact them though and let them know your friend would be really interested. I'm sure they would make a note of it for when he goes up for adoption. And thank you - it's good to know that there are people who look past the surface and see the scrumptious cuddly purry creatures inside. Here's a pic of him snoring last night - Thomas and another
  15. No idea to be honest ladyB. I took him to the vet this morning and he has another 4 weeks before they will xray his back leg to see how it is healing. Once that is sorted and the fixator is taken off they will make a decision about his front leg. Are you tempted?
  16. Things haven't worked out too well for Chloe. Unfortunately she is a little rough and Mummysaz and myself feel she would be better somewhere without children, just for safety's sake. Sezbetz, I was going to ask if you could try with her, but from your pm I see you have a child as well, so maybe it wouldn't be a good idea. Is there anyone else that would be willing to take her on just for a week or so till the RSPCA have a space for her? We've discovered today that she is fine with Mummysaz's kitten and two big dogs. I'll provide the food and the RSCPA will sort the vacs and rehoming out. Please help!!!
  17. Yay!! Thank goodness - I was driving away waiting for my phone to ring - I was sure she would have a total hissy fit when she met the dogs. Chloe suits her really well - she's a dainty little lady. Thank you so much for looking after her, it's a weight off my mind, and I can actually move from room to room again!
  18. Just a bit of an update - I took the cat to the vet with me this morning and they were kind enough to check for a chip and give her a quick look over. She doesn't have a chip unfortunately, but he doesn't think she is pregnant. He couldn't listen to her heart as she was purring so loudly!! The RSPCA have agreed to put her on their waiting list for a space in the shelter and will take responsibility for her, and I'm hoping we will have her sorted with a temporary home by tonight. Thanks ladies at the RSPCA shelter if you are reading Mummy & Sez, I'll pm you shortly. Thanks Here's a pic of her this morning - Sleepy head
  19. yes, she's here in my front room with me. I'm just a tiny bit concerned as i have the foster cat scratching at one door to get to her and my cats scratching at the other door. She's really calm and happy though, so we'll be fine as long as they don't all keep me up all night meowing at each other
  20. Lol! I know, I'm the same. I'd keep them all if I could. If she doesn't have a chip, and one of you is good enough to take her, I would obviously do all I can to find her a home. I wouldn't just leave you to it. I have some food here that I'll bring with her and would be happy to keep supplying it if necessary. I've taken the problem on and won't just pass the buck to someone else.
  21. I know she is scared of my neighbour's dog, but I'm not sure what kind of dog it is - they live quite a way from me and I don't really know them. If it comes to it I'd be happy to bring her to either of you to see if she is okay and bring her back if she isn't. I just don't want her to end up out on the street if there is another choice.
  22. If it's awkward for you don't worry. I'll try keeping her in my front room for tonight. I have to take the foster cat to the vet tomorrow so I'll take her with me and see if the vet will scan her for a chip. If she doesn't have one and we can't find who she belongs to, then I really am going to have to find somewhere for her - my house is tiny and I really can't keep her in the front room indefinitely. Is it okay if I contact you tomorrow Sezbetz? Edit - just seen your edit. No worries, I'll have a rethink.
  23. Thanks Sez, I would bring her to you, I wouldn't expect you to come here. She's snoring loudly on my sofa at the minute. I think she's decided that the more cute she can be the less likely it is that she'll have to go.
  24. Thanks Sezbetz. I'd feel awful having to throw her out in the cold tonight, but can't think what else to do with her. I'll pm you in a bit if I don't get any other replies.
