  1. This Casualty actor is noted on Wikipedia as being born in Sheffield? However other sites say he was born in Leicester? Just wondered if anyone knows what the truth is, he does seem to sound like he has a Yorkshire twang.

  5. Hi, around the time you mention and in the same area a burglar fell of a roof and died. Its a vague memory but he was possibly being pursued by the police and fell. Does anyone else remember this incident?

  7. I went there but in the 1970s, they had their centenary year in 1973. Nice little school we played around it a lot as kids with living nearby.
  8. Looks like this was in Ripon north yorks and was a gang initiation murder committed in 1982. David Milner was a 9 year old boy killed by a 16 year old scout.

  10. `Eric Mangle was sentenced to nineteen years reduced to twelve on appeal. In September 1964 while working in the prison laundry he escaped from Dartmoor with 3 other inmates. They did this by overpowering a warder and getting over the wall. On the run for 8 weeks he was given an extra six months on capture. Eric was released in 1970 after serving nine-and-a-half years.

  12. He lived on Holland road as you go from Asline about half way up on the left. I think his sister was called Leslie who I seem to think was a WPC? Could be wrong. I remember Eric's dad worked for Frank Phillips Skips. I did see Eric some years ago also driving a skip waggon

  14. Hi, I do remember the Johnsons, Andy was a good snooker player often seen at Langtons. I never seen that documentary you mention but would love to see it, I presume you have no contact with the Crowther's? Can you remember the approximate year it was made? I have just looked on Facebook but no direct Crowther links? Did they move out out of town? Perhaps their the only people who have a copy, just a thought.
  15. I remember Mathews next door to the little newsagent, later belonged to betty, army stores, the cafe mid to late 1970s though. There was a bloke called Ron who ran a cafe on Asline road, He later had a second hand shop somewhere on heeley bottom.
  16. I remember your family name but cant put a face to it as its so long ago, did Martin & Karen Crowther live on the road behind you? Remember Michelle Morgan? Do you mean the Johnsons who lived on Fieldhead Rd? Remember Craig Flemming and his younger brother well, my old friend Dean lived close to them. Seen Danny Davies not to long ago.
  17. Yea went to school with Danny and Karen, also remember her brother. Remember Stans shop and the other shops Deborah Nash? Some of my friends friends lived on Bramhall lane. Was your dad a security man back then by any chance?
  18. I didn't go to Lowfield's but know people who did like Everton Harper, Jackie Spriggs, Tony Greyson, Beckinghams? But to name a few. I know the Davies family lived near to you but they were a little older. I lived across from Lowfield school but round the corner near the Chinese.

  21. Im not sure but would have thought so. I remember Noel as I hung around with his youngest brother Dean who went to Lowfields school.
  22. Years ago I had an old astra diesel van that I put about half of a tank of petrol into by mistake. I then drove about a mile or two before it started spluttering so pulled over. What I did was took the fuel pipe off and added a pipe to it leading to a container. I then just pumped the petrol out using the ignition to engage the fuel pump, luckily I had a great battery. After getting most out I then filled up with diesel and after that it ran fine. I would guess it would cause more problems though should this situation happen with modern diesel engines.
  23. Hi Plain Talker, how have you been as we have not seen you for some time on the forum? In fact its been about another two and half years since we heard from you. Hope your ok or perhaps one of your many friends will know how your getting along. Come back to us if you can as we all miss you.
