  1. It's basically two stores next to each other selling pretty much the exact same thing as each other. I went into both yesterday and only saw a slight difference in the stock. Not impressed to be honest. The only good thing I found was that Heron's was a lot easier to get around as it did not feel as cluttered as Fulton's. Also, Fulton's had plenty of staff on yesterday and it was fairly empty, but there were no baskets available at the entrance.
  2. This development has been approved today despite objections from the local community. Although the approval has only just been granted, work commenced back in February and is at a fairly advanced stage. Wonder how much the developers gave the council to pay them off?
  3. Please can people, if they are against this development, please submit an objection on the link at the bottom of page 2. The deadline is Thursday 17th March. So far there are 13 objections and no support.
  4. Yeah they have already started doing things to the building. I thought it was just the windows and stuff, but apparently shower screens have been delivered. Like you said, it sounds like a done deal. We aren't even getting a letter, despite the fact that the windows overlook our garden, and there will be an entrance at the side of the building which will also overlook us.
  5. Planning permission has been submitted to convert the pub into a 30 bed HMO. The neighbour consultation period has not expired (17th March) and work is already being done on the building. http://publicaccess.sheffield.gov.uk/online-applications/applicationDetails.do?activeTab=summary&keyVal=O2SH2DNY0IS00 And planning permission has been granted to turn the garages next door into a community centre, despite objections from neighbours in the immediate vicinity.
  6. Really disappointing. Yeah it's a bit pricey but the bakery section in particular is good. Also, as a vegan, it was nice having somewhere local that not only does a good selection of food and BUAV approved toiletries, but also labels them as such. Does anyone know what's happening with the staff? Most of them have been there for ages.
  7. If you are on Facebook, try joining the Sheffield vegan and vegetarian group https://www.facebook.com/groups/390834354436314/?fref=ts There's some good tips and ideas for places you can eat at easily in Sheffield. There's also vegan supermarket finds groups. And obviously, google is a great help. Good luck with trying it out, it really isn't as hard as it may seem
  8. That's a really good idea. I'll definitely do that.
  9. Oh right. That's a bit of a relief, I was a bit concerned about their lack of activity. The dead fish re-appeared so I ran around to a neighbour who has now removed it so that is one concern gone. I'll just keep feeding them as per the instructions on the tub of food and keep an eye on them. Yeah it is a bit odd but I think it must have just slipped their mind. Hopefully now things should settle down.
  10. I'm not sure what you mean by plec. I really do not know anything about fish... Yeah I won't attempt to clean it, too afraid I would mess it up too much. I couldn't see the dead fish when I went back to remove it... There was also three catfish that I noticed this time. They seemed a bit more lively as well. I'm wondering if maybe they have asked someone else to come and look after the fish, although it doesn't make much sense to have 2 people coming and going, but that's the only reason I can think of for them not to even mention them to me... I really can't believe they haven't left me anyway to contact them.
  11. I have agreed to look after my neighbours cat whilst they are away for 2 weeks, letting her in and out and feeding her. Tonight was my first visit to the house and I noticed they had a fish tank. I initially thought it was empty as it didn't look very clean. Then I noticed a dead fish floating on the top. Looking closer I also saw two live catfish on the bottom of the tank. I was not told about the fish, I know nothing about them, I am actually quite scared of fish. Is it possible that the dead fish is a food source for the catfish? I found a tub of catfish food and it said to feed them 2 to 3 times a day so I sprinkled a bit in and they didn't even acknowledge it. What should I do about cleaning the tank? I can't get in touch with them as they haven't left me a contact number, which already had me worried because the cat I am looking after is really old...
  12. If only it was... Horrible, inconsiderate business who let their clients stand out on the fire escape screaming and shouting, and don't know how to close windows to keep the noise from disturbing their neighbours. Fingers crossed.
  13. There's noise and then there is excessive noise. The pub behind my house is ridiculously loud. It wasn't like this when my parents bought the house 29 years ago, or up until about 8 years ago. They have their windows open year round so all the noise comes out, and they let their customers out onto the fire escapes where they shout and chant. I am currently sat in my living room watching TV, with all of our windows shut, and the living room door shut, and I can still hear the music coming from the pub fairly clearly. How is that acceptable? And it is not only like this on Friday and Saturdays either. It is pretty much all through the week. If they kept their windows shut (and the fire escapes) then I'm sure the level of noise would be acceptable, you would hear it outside faintly but that is all. Pubs can operate successfully in residential areas but they need to show respect for the neighbours.
  14. Today has been incident free One of the dogs had an operation on his paw a few weeks ago and has not been able to go out on walks (under instruction of vet because he keeps opening the wound) and I'm wondering now if he is acting up and the other one is just joining in? It does seem like the weather is playing a part though because a few people seem to be having similar issues.
  15. Thank you vwkittie. Yeah I think they probably are unsettled by the weather, but I wasn't sure if that was it because it doesn't stop them going outside. I'll keep a better eye on them inside definitely. I don't think the tinfoil thing is that practical for this because they aren't just using one small patch, it seems to be the whole of the dining room lol, but it is handy to know for future reference. Hopefully the weather will calm down soon.
