  1. I think it is quite staggering at how people just vote according to what the unions and other people say without actually getting the facts for themselves.

Everyone is saying that having an elected mayor would cost more in terms of running costs for the city over the current system. What they neglect to tell you is that the extra funding that could be bought into the city would easily dwarf the marginally higher costs, if any.

The £1 billion settlements designated to Leeds and Manchester is now at risk for NOT electing a mayor. If Sheffield actually elected a mayor, it would have been very probable that what was destined for Leeds would have ended up in Sheffield.

Having a person which everyone can associate with for a given city is not a bad thing. People tend to give Boris a hard time for how he runs London. However, the Olympics was built on his watch, which bought in billions to regenerate a very deprived part of the city. How we would wish for such a thing to happen to Sheffield.

You all forget that we should be concerned with what is best for the city of Sheffield and not so called facts that are fed to us by political parties or unions which expect us to vote a specific way because you have always done so in the past.

I suppose it is too much to expect for people to think longer than 5 minutes for a given topic so they can reach an informed decision.

  2. Well, the Scottish politicians are already steps ahead of you all. They have been considering legislation to have all air weapons banned! This is actually quite funny as the national rifle coach for the GB shooting team is based in Scotland, so it would be interesting if he needs to travel south of the border just to train lol.

The people most likely to be hurt from more stringent legislation are people like myself who have legitimate sporting interests which are the majority. For example, I am a 10m air rifle shooter which shoots at a club at county and national levels. The reason I decided to specialise in air rifle shooting is the fact that it is much cheaper than .22 smallbore shooting and easier to get into because of there being much less red tape. If you bring the legislation requirements for air weapons to be equivalent to that of smallbore weapons, then you are actually going "increase" the number of smallbore rifles out there because people will just migrate to that discipline instead if there is just as much hassle to get into either sport.

It just goes to show the people who have least understanding of the subject, shout the loudest.

  3. Don't get the Crucial C300s. A load of users are having issues with the 006 firmware, just look at the Crucial forums. From what I have read, all the users having issues seem to be using Intel chipsets.

If I was to buy an SSD now, it will be an OCZ Vertex 2 because the Sandforce controllers are the best out there. I would also consider the Kingston SSDNow V+100 which is effectively the same as what is being used in Apple's Mac Airs and they have really good garbage collection (probably a bit too good lol).

Just be aware though, Crucial's C400 and OCZ's Vertex 3 are just round the corner.

  4. Why is there a warning on toothpaste,

Because there are actually parents out there stupid enough to feed their kids toothpaste? All warnings are present to prevent litigation more than anything else. Also, you'll have to cater for the most stupid of people to ensure everyone understands. Are you stupid enough to feed your child toothpaste?

For crying out loud, a hot cup of coffee has a warning that the contents are hot!

  5. Thankyou retep, brilliant link. May be we can start and vote these corrupt and unwise councillors out who are letting Sheffielders down.

Wow, so anything that is put up on the internet is considered a good source of information? :loopy:

    Go to a library and actually read up on established scientific journals for an unbiased and reasoned conclusion on the matter. This is probably beyond you, but at least I tried;

  6. how can people calm down when their kids are at risk from a poison which has no place in milk. If you took a pole ,which this thread has tried to do, who wants flouride in kids milk then I would wager a majority would say no! So what's it doing there.. Who profits out of flouridation?

Until you can show me the proven benefits of flouride milk then it shouldn't be allowed , never mind being introduced creepingly..

I beleave flouride makes you un creative, accepting , and makes you far less likely to question things. I also beleave it contributes to some cancers and bone conditions .

Your post proves how ill educated people like yourself can be of great detriment to your children. Do you have any evidence that fluoride additions are harmful? Absolutely none. It's just your poor misguided beliefs on the matter. I wish people would actually do some research and READ up on the matter instead of spreading these blatantly false fears.

Fluoride additions in our water supply in different parts of the country has shown countless times that not only is it harmless but of exceptional benefit.

Maybe you should take some fluoride supplements to improve your spelling.
